I believe he's said that he'll be remaking all the Geneforge games, but it won't be until after Avadon 3 and (the new) Avernum 3 are done.

I'm looking forward to it. Avernum: Escape from the Pit was the first Vogel game for me too and I liked it a lot. Will buy on release and gladly support the decline 
Also I like me a good questlog. I can draw my own maps, but a bad questlog is driving me insane.

iirc the original Avernum also had maps but no questlog. You could "save" some dialogue bits into the journal, though

Exile III had a good questlog. And automaps.
Well I haven't played that and didn't get it to run on Win 8.1 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure if I liked 2 or 3 best, they are both p. great. I'm also not sure if I want to play essentially the same game for the third time.
Me too, bro. Nothing special, but good passtime. Kind of reminded me of an isometric M&MVI/VII, dunno why.
EDIT: Wait, is this a remake of Escape from the Pit or a sequal? The first post makes me CONFUSE

Escape from the Pit is a remake of Avernum 1 which is a remake of Exile 1
Crystals Souls will be a remake of Avernum 2 which is a remake of Exile 2
So this is a sequel
