I've added the Socialist-Feminist Matriarchy on Mars, and made a permanent link to only the database file in the first post. Everyone should PM me what they'd like their free initial 10 000 RP spent on, and then either give guidelines or a design for their free freighter and colony ship (Cannot exceed 40 000 tons).

I've confirmed the mineral situation on Titan is just fine. Many bottles of Vodka will be launched into orbit in celebration.

Martian tech-cult, no contest.
I'm going to go with this. I think I'll be able to make the tech-cult more interesting than Mongols in Space. And, since you're playing a nation of rabid Hellenic nationalists, you may recognize one of the symbols I've pick for my nation.

PQFcMWH.gif

Name: Noctis Ordered Union of Syndicates

Empire Theme: Ancient Egypt

Main Commander Theme: Latin

Other Commander Themes: Ancient Egypt 25%, Ancient Greek 25%

Government Type: Technocracy/Theocracy

Starting Planet: Mars

Dug deep into the sprawling valleys and canyons of the Noctis Labyrinthus region of Mars, the Noctis Ordered Union of Syndicates, or NOUS, is a state governed by a union of various sects of Machine Priests, who preach that technology is a manifestation of divinity, and a means by which all minds can become closer to that of the Godhead. Originally founded by groups of radical transhumanists, with the intention of forming the first post-human society, strengthened by the rigors of a harsh alien environment, these colonists gradually, sometimes through subtle coercion or open violence, came to accept the various machine cults as the leaders of their new society.

Perfectly. You'll still need to furnish me with a password and your plans.

The discovery of Trans-Newtonian materials in the 2030's brought humanity its first real hope of dealing with mounting crises on all fronts. Colonization of space would be the panacea that cured environmental destruction, overpopulation, and resource shortages, and it was embraced wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, it came too late.

World War III has left the jewel of humanity a hollow shell of its former glory. In 2055 Glorious Hellas stands ascendant, the Phalanx program and its Trans-Newtonian infantry having served it well. North America and Eurasia have been reduced to ashes by nuclear fire, and the shattered remains of Earth's once titanic orbital infrastructure still nightly falls like incandescent tears.

In the midst of this horror and madness, the colonies seized their independence swiftly and with little opposition. Critical damage to the support structure of the cavernous underground cities of Novyy Kiev and Svyatilishche left millions of displaced refugees to be deported back to Earth for their Terran sympathies. Hundreds of Titan's great factories now lie sleeping beneath the ice for wont of workers to operate them, while unemployment soars in Hellas as her post-war population swells with foreign refugees from the colonies.

The Socialist-Feminist Matriarchy and the Noctis Ordered Union of Syndicates have reached an uneasy truce on the red planet, suddenly Humanity's most populous world. To date, both have been solely concerned with casting off the shackles of the Technophobic Reactionary Capitalist Patriarchy of old Earth, and only now, on the eve of their freedom, have they had the opportunity to evaluate relations with what once may have been sisters in arms.

THE SOCIALIST-FEMINIST MATRIARCHY OF MARS

Excerpt from the first public speech of High Administrator Mona Janssen:

...As the ravages of war, greed and pestilence have scoured the old Earth, leaving hardly any survivors. For too long has the madness of unchecked Capitalism, fostered and sheltered by the malevolent Patriarchy, been allowed to oppress women and trample their gifts. Well no more! I say it is time for Sisters everywhere to unite and bring forth their Goddess-given talents! To work in harmony, to bring prosperity and peace to all! I promise to you, there are no obstacles large enough to deter us from this shining path! As for men, our poor, misguided brothers, we must take drastic action to safeguard our future...

winged-goddess.jpg

The winged Goddess has become a popular symbol in SOMA.
SOMA is a newly established nation based on Mars. After the calamities of the Third World War and the resulting disruptions in supply and economy, which led to starvation, disease and widespread chaos, two women rose out of obscurity to create a paradise on Mars, where all were equal and wealth was fairly distributed to those in need. High Administrator Mona Janssen and Rear Admiral Nora Lindqvist led the fledgling state through turmoil and struggle to victory and bright future! While the cost was high, all citizens of SOMA can now breathe in relief thanks to their heroic deeds.
-Excerpt from the New History of SOMA textbook

Downloaded the latest .mdb, checked it and this is what I see:

FKz9syR.png

Only 1 or 2 units produced per year due to horrible scarcity.

:negative:

*Edit: Disregard it. Aurora can't recognize 7.777,77 7.777.7 and 7,777.7 as the same number under different separators and I thought I only had to change the decimal separator to fix that, but clearly not.

You can clearly see that's incorrect. Your annual production is between 1 and 2 for those minerals and you have 480 mines. There's something wrong with your Aurora client, or somehow the database wasn't loaded correctly. When I log in as your Empire and view Titan I see very respectable mineral reserves.

Do you have your OS localization set to use north american style numbers (i.e. . for decimals and , for digit separators)?

You're only seeing the first three digits of numbers. Those 1's and 2's are actually 1,XXX and 2,XXX. The reserves are, similarly, 5 or 6 digit numbers.

All orders implemented for the SOMA, Novaya, and Hellas. Still waiting on JagreenLern for orders before we can begin. Peruse the save at your leisure to ensure you're satisfied before we kick off. The first few rounds will be 5 years, plan accordingly and make sure you provide plans that match the time scale.

Alright, if I don't hear from JagreenLern by tomorrow I'll just make up some orders for the NOUS and we'll get underway. He can chime in whenever he feels like correcting the course.

I've definitely let the momentum slip on this one, sorry about that. This weekend I'll write up the half decade if I see anything key I've missed and get to implementing the standing orders. I'll schedule in some time weekly (Maybe Saturday afternoons will be Aurora time) and see if I can't keep this going at a clip until we hit interstellar empires. It would be nice if wars didn't default to total by virtue of only one colony.

No worries, Random Word, some delays are bound to happen.

It would be nice if wars didn't default to total by virtue of only one colony.
I would like to suggest a gentleman's agreement to prevent just this sort of thing. It would be nice if we could all agree to refrain from ground warfare until each player has established a certain number of colonies. What number seems reasonable to you guys?

Well, that's difficult to measure because colonies are not equal in Aurora. You might have a dozen colonies but all your CF are in your main colony and losing that means game over.

Or you might have a starting satellite that needs you to waste constant IC in underground infrastructure because its gravity is below the minimum, to the point migrating fully to a new planet, leaving only automated mines and some mass drivers behind, is economically justifiable in the long term.

Good point. Corrected human tolerances to +/- 0.9 G instead of 0.7 G. Titan now has acceptable gravity, as do many other moons. Sorry about that.

Didn't get as far as I'd planned today due to technical difficulties. Windows, how does it work? January 1st, 2061 is up.

NNS Amathaunta launched, begins orbital mining operations around comet Wolf-Harrington.

Hellenic Lunar Colony reaches population of 8 million, Sorium extraction begins.

FSM begins another massive round of shipyard expansions, pundits wonder when the first starship will launch.

NOUS successfully tests Trans-Newtonian missile system in orbit around Mars, Hellenic military observers reassure Citizens that this technology is no threat.

The MNS Succor delivers colony construction materials to Europa.

June 2061 Edition of Time: Special Report on the New Colonies

Matriarch Ester Hansson runs a tight ship on Europa. Her intense, hands on style of government led to her appointment, and many hard-line progressives who believe the SFM isn't going far enough to tear down the entrenched societal patterns which enforced the old patriarchy have flocked to her banner and signed up to colonize this hostile new world. Ester believes the deep crevasses running through Europa's rocky exterior are eternal reminders of the ruts of old fashioned thinking into which humanity became trapped before the revolution and the liberation of her sisters. Their explosive destruction to make way for new habitats thus becomes ever so much more satisfying. Despite her extremist political leanings, she has the unswerving support of Matriarch Mona Janssen on Mars, as evidenced by her appointment, and her loyalty to the Party is unquestionable. She works tirelessly to better the lives of her fellow colonists and root out outmoded social moores. A lack of any notable heavy industry, and the absence of even cursory geological information have left the colony completely dependent on supply shipments from Mars, but many colonists have taken this opportunity to explore mediums like poetry and sculpture, both inspired by the stunning views of Jupiter through the deep and majestic crags, and working with the silicate crust itself as a medium.

Colonists on Mercury can't quite agree on which is harsher: Governor Biana Mikhaylov, or the weather. A controversial appointment, many believe she was sent to oversee the new colony on Mercury as much to get her off of Titan as to see it flourish under her heavy handed but highly effective governance. Her long tour as Minister of Bioengineering on Titan has given her extensive experience in hydro and aeroponic administration and deployment, and she has put this to good use sustaining her people under the harsh conditions of Mercury's nonexistant atmosphere, blisteringly hot days, and glacial nights. Just don't cross her, or you'll wish you were outside her well insulated walls. She fought the Central Authority's decision to relocate much needed terraforming installations - and the jobs that came with them - and the leviathan KNS Kresta back to Titan tooth and nail to no avail, and relations between Mercury and its mother colony remain as icy as Titan's seas and Mercury's night.

Archon Temel Yilmaz came out of left field to sweep Luna's first Citizen's General Election. Initially largely populated by non-Citizen refugee labourers and technicians, the small Citizen population of Luna voted overwhelmingly to elect superstar musician Yilmaz over rivals Anaxis of Megalopolis and Theodore Lambrakis. Yilmaz's combination of personal magnetism, stage presence, and wildly entertaining escapades have long kept him in the public eye, and this is only the latest in the long string of unexpected moves which have defined his career. When Geologists struck a massive reservoir of Sorium deep within the Lunar crust shortly after his election, he was delcared Luna's lucky charm. His lassaize-faire attitude towards governance coupled with a hands-on attitude which sees him constantly out of the office shaking hands with newly disembarked CEOs and representatives of major Hellenic corporations have made him popular with the wealthy elite who now call Luna home. Over half of Luna's 12.4 million colonists are Citizens, and it's become the new Athens of the Solar System, with thriving night life, hot new trends in fashion and media, and the fastest growing financial sector in the Solar System. Archon Yilmaz's more eccentric antics are quickly forgiven, swept away in the runaway success of this superstar and his Sorium fueled City of Light.

Lay Magician Milo of Pinara, Captain of the Amathaunta, and commander of the Wolf-Harrington mining operation is a difficult woman to see, in a multitude of ways. Ensconced within the technical marvel that is her Command Cocoon she is almost completely shrouded by the hundreds of superconducting command links which run directly into her neural interface ports. This allows her to directly oversee every aspect of the resource extraction operation going on far below her. Massive terawatt infrared mining LASERs blast segments of the icy crust of the majestic leviathan that is Wolf-Harrington, to be recovered by hundreds of smaller guidance and recovery craft and delivered to the Amathaunta for processing. Finally, the processed resources are transported to the immense Mass Driver which accelerates these containers to extreme velocities and hurls them towards Mars to be recovered in atmosphere and delivered to the many sprawling industrial complexes around Olympus Mons. The Captain herself would not even deign to speak to us until we supplied an interviewer who was almost entirely prosthetic, and resolutely denied interview requests until the Interfacing Committee of the NOUS Explorator Fleets had processed and approved our list of questions. She has a stubborn deliberateness about her, a singleminded devotion to her craft which leaves her superbly qualified for the important task before her. Even after speaking to her, in many respects she remains as enigmatic as her peers. Many fear the degree to which the upper echelons of the NOUS have drifted from humanity, but I find solace in the flicker of humanity evinced by her single-minded devotion to the beautifully choreographed dance of mind and machine. Only the luckiest of us can claim to labour with such love.

What sorts of information would people like to see? I think reporting on when starships come into and out of sensors range would be nonsensical with so many different sensor sources and mind numbingly boring, but I could report on every known non-civilian starship launched and what sorts of missions it's been on (For instance, the Novaya Krim have the KNS Kresta, a massive orbital terraforming vessel that I'm pretty sure I haven't mentioned). I could report on the current planetary administrators, or come up with more political and cultural events, but don't want to step on player's toes. Is there anything else people would be interested in hearing about?

Wait, you mean non-civilian? If you want an itemized list of every CIVILIAN ship, I can copy paste it, but it's going to be long and really boring.

Well, just general information on how the shipping lines are doing: number of ships, share price, amount of wealth.
