The irony is that you are able to dodge many attacks in D3. Not all, but many.
Shit, I think all bosses have patterns that just beg you to exploit them, dodge and hit in return.

Especially Diablo....I avoided most of his attacks with my WD, my gargantuan zombies tanked him pretty well, all I had to do was avoid the area attacks and attack him.

The obvious solution is that Blizzard needs to add more lag so that you can play the game properly.

just get a stack or two of nephs valor, 5 stacks is guaranteed rares from what i've seen. I'm trying to experiment with hot swapping into my magic find gear when the boss is at 1 percent but i'm struggling a bit. (barb)

Don't let Blizzard hear that. According to them you are a dirty exploiter and this will get nerfed if they catch you doing it.

My monk feels pretty different after the last few "hotfixes".

I don't know what it is, but it seems like I used to be able to "dash" toward those deadly shooty-birds in Act 2 and kill them quickly, but now I cannot use any of the "mana" abilities at start of an encounter, because I never have any residual "mana" from previous fight.

My frequency of executing these abilities feels nerfed, the game feels more difficult but less fun at the same time, because the variety of things I can do has been limited by the mana shit, so I end up mostly using the same attack. It seems like the damage created by the mana abilities no longer increases your mana at all. I dash toward something, it dies, then I can't dash to the next one.

    Something's off. Something's amiss.

Blizzard got too big/successful for their own good. Those pictures are actually disgusting in light of all the problems D3 has...

The game wasn't even designed by the key employees from Blizzard North (now disbanded), how can this possibly be a proper Diablo game?

I say wait for Torchlight 2, which actually does have former key Blizzard North developers working on it. World of Diablo's fires are burning fast.

It wasn't designed by the Diablo 1/2 guys, but you can't say that Torchlight is an example of the genre done right, at least in my opinion. It's a pretty shit and easy game, and I wanted to like it. Torchlight 2 seems better than TL1, but... eh. TL1 looks like Diablo 4 Kidz, and TL2 looks like Diablo II 4 Kidz.

Those pictures are pretty gross, though.

All things considered, I wouldn't be surprised if D3 doesn't have as much longevity as D2 has had. I maintain that the game is fun, but it seems hollow compared to D2. I think they would have been better off forgoing a storyline that you follow and just making the game a lot longer and bigger, with a lot more items and stuff like that.

They have the randomization down: they should have put in a never-ending dungeon that uses the various layouts/monsters which gets progressively harder but gives progressively better loot, kind of like D1 but never-ending. Fuck, now I'm sad that they didn't do something like this. I guess Torchlight has this feature, which makes it even more surprising that they didn't do it, since there's the precedent for it.

Sort of how D3 looks like D2 for kids? :smug:

Some areas of D3 are pretty gruesome, far more than the previous games. Impaled corpses, corpses strung up and split apart over sacrificial altars with ribcages and guts hanging out, etc. Not really "D2 for kids" if you ask me.

(boss name spoilers ahead if you give a shit)

Anyway, I just finally finished normal difficulty hardcore. The final act comes across like it's rushed - it's maybe 1/4th the length of Act 1? It's weird how Diablo is one of the easiest bosses, too. It's also weird how Belial is by far the hardest boss, at least to me. Those poison circles and his physical attack are way out of line in damage compared to other bosses.

I'd definitely recommend hardcore mode over the regular game. I think that after a certain point it won't be feasible to continue safely, especially in Inferno and probably Hell for that matter, but having only 1 life makes the game way more exciting and meaningful. The normal game is fun for mindless slaughtering and loot whoring, but it's more or less a rollercoaster ride with virtually no penalty for death. Oh, and hardcore has no real money auction house, either. :smug:

??? All that was in the previous Diablos...

Why shouldn't the Blizzard guys party? D3 is a huge success and if you were't in the latest bout of lay-offs, you'll feel like partying. And the number of people suffering from issues in D3 is "exceedingly small". One afternoon of partying doesn't mean they've stopped working on support.

belial is really easy after you figure him out. With the Barbarian, I used the frenzy with the healing rune, 2 damage reduction abilities, and the templar with all the healing abilities, and the fight reduced to me standing in place occasionally pressing 2 and 3 (the keys I binded to the damage reduction abilities, don't remember the name). Generally the bosses in this game are not really funny.

I want to repeat that I found the game really good and really funny, but I'm starting to feel some tedium near the end of the third act (I'm in that hellish crater with the hellish tower of sorts, I don't even know how many levels of that thing I descended). I can't imagine being one of the people who finish this game at all the difficulty levels with multiple character and that farm the endgame incessantly- it's something that would rot your brain

Even if the game is a turd and the guys in charge are soulless aboninations, those guys on the picture probably put in 16-hour workdays for a solid month prior to launch. I'd say they deserve a chance to chillax.

All those guys are probably artists and shit that have jack squat to do with the actual game at this point. All the game's balance problems can probably be ascribed to one angry fat dude in his cubicle, and he wouldn't be fixing it if he had more time on his hands.

Mm, technically speaking there are a lot of dead bodies, bits of corpses etc. in Diablo 3. But every single one of these environments come across as generic fantasy Evil Hell Lands. Also, there's something like one area in the entire game where any of the dead bodies are women. Compare The Halls of Agony - featuring braziers full of decapitated heads, body parts strewn about, stinking charnel pits et al - to the various Monastery dungeons in Diablo 2, where there are the naked bodies of tortured and violently dismembered rogues all over the place. Obviously a lot's been said about the terrible writing, which certainly doesn't help with the horror vibe, but in the end I think it comes down to the blocky, cartoonish graphics. I was browsing the Path of Exile vids, and whilst the assets are of somewhat mixed quality, they reminded me a lot more of the smoother, semi-realistic direction of Diablo 2.

I'd say that Diablo 3 has graphics that gives more of a hand-painted (maybe something along the lines of a oil-painting) vibe, especially act 2, rather than cartoonish and blocky (it is certainly not blocky).[IMG]

Playing on 1920x1080 with everything on max, and many of the assets (particularly the character and enemy models) look blocky as hell to me. Will try poasting some screenies of the worst areas later today.
