Video games are a horrible hobby. 60$ for a game that you might not even like? What the fuck.

Books, movies, music and even television are better.

You should stop playing video games.

I will leave you with a timeless quote from Phil Baroni. These are truly words to live by:

Interviewer: Are you a nerd at heart, like play video games or read comics?
Phil Baroni: Fuck no. I hate that shit with a passion. I think it’s gay as fuck and a waste of time.

Interviewer: Do you have any advice for the nerds on how to get girls?
Phil Baroni: Do steroids, lift heavy weights, get contacts, go tanning. And stop playing all those gay fucking video games. You can’t get pussy in front of a TV playing games with your geeky friends. Go out to night clubs and bars, hit the beach. If you got money, floss. Whatever you do, don’t be yourself.

The key to enjoying any hobby is to be really into it for a few years then stopping and getting a new one.

I do think games were better 10-20 years ago. I think too much money/time gets spent on things like graphics and voice acting. Its abit like how CGI has led to alot of mainstream films relying on it over substance.

Take skyrim fo example, the world is really nice but the content and plot are horrible.

There is some truth to that, let me refine it for games.

The key to enjoying games is to be really into it early on and play everything and then retreat to only buying 1-4 games a year. Only buy the best, that you really care of and make no compromises whatsoever. The latest game has huge amount of hype? it gets 9.5 everywhere? Who fucking cares. If it's not exactly what you want, now that you have a deep understanding of what kind of quality you like, then don't buy it. Take some distance. You have the wisdom of a gaming expert, use it to only play the best and then ignore everything else. Use the time you've gained more wisely. The real losers are those that are in their 20s and 30s and still get all wet over the latest Nintendo first party release or every flavor of the month.

I'm trying to imagine the current corridor of duty fanbase's version of newshit decline a decade down the road, when they will be the one called entitled bitches living in the past

probably something like online login system and a reasonable gameplay service charge of $0.10 per minute, 6 dollars an hour and 60 dollars for ten hours, pay as you play, all the level scripting and other vital components are streamed and decrypted from servers like D3 so you can't play offline or be a filthy pirate or worse second hand customer

savegames and achivements stored online only of course

go on kids use daddy's credit cards, he won't mind

if you get stuck a company representive will take over the controls and remotely win the level for you for an additional fee

$60 for ten hours? That would be anywhere from a 2 to 5 fold improvement on games today.

I'm thinking more of factors like that fellow in the bioware forums who said that he had been replaying dragon age origins once per month ever since it was released or all the people who said they played through each variation of class and gender in DA2

that's a lot of gameplay service charges

hrrmn, I can see many games getting multiplayer component like ME3, except with F2P subscription method and quick access to microtransaction store or premium subscription for exclusive classes and weapons

why sell overpriced popcorn when you can sell someone +5 bullet damage for less overhead

Yes, video games are shit in general. Nobody has created anything that could be called a truly great game.

    He's dead bro.

Games are just a form of escapism, let's face it.

That's pretty much what I do, and have done for years. But it's not usually even 4 games a year.

I've become much more interested in the creative and design side of the hobby, so at least all my experience won't go to waste.

Its completely acceptable?possible? that people be allowed to (literally) consume shit. Whether its good or bad for their health is another issue.

Oh... right. He died in 2007. Nevertheless, he still rocks, even after his death.

Now, if the games are form of "escapism" what is or where is that "thing" from "we" escape of?
