1. You're in a desert, walking along in the sand, when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise, Guest. It's crawling toward you. You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back, Guest. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that, Guest? Why are you not helping?

Any good prehistoric movies out there?

I'm talking Stone/Bronze/Iron age. Hunter-gatherer tribes, early pottery and smithing, paganism etc etc. Movies about the beginning of civilization, basically. I've done some searching and the only stuff I can seem to find is goofy 'man vs dinosaur' caveman stuff. So, do any good movies about this era even exist?

"Quest for Fire", maybe ? I've only read the book, which I really enjoyed, but there's a fairly well-known movie adaptation.

Quest for Fire and, uh... QUest for fire?

Yeah, I think it's pretty much Quest for Fire

You mean other than Herpasic Derp and Quest for Herpaderp? No. Not that I know of. But it would make a very good movie premise. So many things you could do with that.

That one was actually entertaining. Not at all accurate but who cares?

An accurate depiction could be very fun and informative. Like a Neaderthal/Saipiens encounter from either or both perspectives would be very cool. But who is going to tell Hollywood (or anyone else) to make a movie like this nowadays.

Oh, there are numerous cool documentaries. I've watched quite a few of those and they actually get better every year.

But I thought the OP was about fictional movies. Not any of them as far as I know are really very good at all even if you suspend your disbelief as far as it will go. They are just bad movies.

There's this movie. It stars Daryl Hannah but I never watched it. I'm pretty confident it's shit but you never know.

If it's anything like the book it blows serious chunks. I was visiting a relative and bored out of my mind so decided to delve into her book collection. I couldn't even get through a two chapters of this 'fantasy paleo-mandingo love' fantasy drek. That book really sucked. It was like a cavemen harlequin romance.

The Thirteenth Warrior is cool: Vikings vs. Neanderthals. It's fairly accurate to the writings of Ibn Fadlan, Chrichton, et al.

    And surprisingly on-topic.

    Also, great thread !
I have nothing to contribute, very unrepresented genre.

Movies hadn't been invented back then, so the answer to your question is no.

One Million Years B.C. looks exactly like the campy B-movie stuff that I don't want to see.

Quest for Fire looks kinda shi- wait, Ron Perlman is in it? Ok, I guess I'll have to check this one out.

Even though Olefas isn't exactly what I was looking for, I guess that Northern Europe was still very much in the Iron age before the spread of Christianity, so it kinda counts. Will check it out.
