i hate when they use a female voice over for male children.

yeah... he's awesome... back when MTV was a decent channel, they showed his shorts about the two guys who keep hurting each other, really great stuff.

There's a 10-gig torrent out there called "Various - Top 100 Animated Shorts (1906 - 2006)", as chosen by some Canadians, apparentely.

In short, it's awesome. You'll find something from every era. Some of Pixar's shorts are in there, as well as some Looney Toons, and the Japanese stuff in there is weird and different in a NICE kind of way.

Some of the highlights from that torrent (and are just generally awesome animated shorts):

At the Ends of the Earth. What it's like living on the edge. Poor kitty...

    Bambi Meets Godzilla Legendary.

Charade Why truly great people will always be misunderstood.

The Substitute (Surogat) The Pink Panther ripped this one off.

    It's a great torrent.

    Some other favourites of mine:

Symphony in Slang What's a matter, cat got your tongue?

The Dirdy Birdy Something I caught on MTV back when it was worth watching.

Then you won't like Mary and Max, the full-length feature film done by the same guy. Harvie Krumpet even cameos in it.

Ryan - An animated documentary about an old animator who ended his promising career with drug and alcohol abuse. Very personal.

The External World - A bizarre animated world filled with absurd comedy and psychological tension.

    damn... pretty creepy

eventhough this got an oscar mainly for the story, i think it deserved one for the mix of styles and execution
you can watch the documentary "Alter Egos" about "Ryan" and Ryan Larkin here: http://www.nfb.ca/film/alter_egos/

made me grin a lot and laugh a bit (especially the prosper-like part)... i think that may be a bad sign
