    alright... back to the thread.

i've watched some good animated shorts lately and i got the feeling like there must be a lot more of those around, which i've missed. let's make a list of good animated short films (preferably with links and short description).

    ###

    Dancing Animals in Love

bad furry lsd trip worth waiting for the end.

    Snowblood

    don't be mean to snowmen.

    The Backwater Gospel

a wild west town is expecting the undertaker.

The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello

steampunk silhouettes exploring life and death.

    The Saga Of Bîorn

a viking's quest to find an enemy who would secure him a place in valhalla. includes burning nuns.

ps.: please keep the animu to a minimum

There is a certain torrent for a "Beltesassar's Short Animation Festival", a compilation of around 300+ animated shorts from various periods from all over the world, that come in 16 or so parts, spanning 24+ GBs. You can find the parts 1 to 13 in a single torrent by the name "Festival korotkometrazhnyh" and the remaining parts individually. And don't be discouraged by the low amount of seeders; they are true seeders like 3rd world immigrant breeders.

Get it while you can. Worth every bit of it.

    edit:

Here and here are the links for the internet niggers anyway.

    All of them

CalArts graduates usually post their graduation of midterm short on Youtube which have some gems among them.

Also, the Oscars have a Animated Short category.

you're welcome to... if you find some good ones, let me know

there's just too much self pity in russian animation (as in "firing range", which you've linked)

true... so do vancouver film school, animation workshop and a lot of others but some of it is rather boring and i'd like to get codexers' personal faves

arguably one of the less shitty categories when it comes to content but still just marketing

thanks for the links... the animation style of "The Old Man And The Sea" is pretty awesome

[edit]include the posted stuff in the first post or keep it like documentary thread ?

Your uneducated, generalized opinion disguised as fact offends me greatly.

Actually I believe that the same director made the long version and Burton was only a producer but yeah the movies is quite a disappointment. Maybe those who didnt watch first the short version actually found the long one good, but for me it was quite bad.

Thankfully, the thread subject is animated shorts lest we might have been discussing full blown series spanning multiple seasons.

excellent... reminded me of the line "If I ever just disappear into the woods, it’s because I’ve found my sanity." worked in an old people's home for a about year once and the most fun people there were those who had completely given up on pretending that what society thought mattered.

    marriage parable detected

pretty cool... liked the atmosphere and the 'monster cam' they got from evil dead

i'll add this to the post apocalyptic shorts (even if it has very little animation):
    Gone With The Blastwave (fanmovie)

a short based on the excellent Gone With The Blastwave webcomic (writer is a lazy finnish fuck who updates once a year or so)

most impressive flash animation i've seen so far... the timing to the score is pretty much flawless
(if you're into flash animation in general, take a look at albinoblacksheep )

wouldn't have guessed that it was a 2003 film... the amount of work that went into this is amazing

ah supamonks... wouldn't mind a longer version of the end bit as well

i remember seeing "Oktapodi" in some pre oscar hype when it was nominated in 2009. in the end it lost to the non-animu japanese animation "Tsumiki no ie".

Tsumiki no ie (The House of Small Cubes)

a much better version of waterworld
