WHAT LIES BEYOND?

Ancient Space is a story driven single player real time strategy game where you take command of a fleet embarking on a scientific mission to chart undiscovered reaches of space called ‘The Black Zone’. Overcome overwhelming odds and fight for your life and the survival of your ship and its crew.

Ancient Space features real time strategic starship battles that encourages tactical maneuvering. In time honored RTS tradition, you build and upgrade your fleet as you complete mission objectives and gather resources which allow you to progress further into the game. Chart your approach – from defense to offense and everything in between such as escort and stealth missions.

Embark and explore the darkest recesses of space in this tale of strategic resource management and engrossing interstellar warfare.

MAIN FEATURES:
RICH ENGROSSING CAMPAIGN
The single player campaign comes with a compelling story that follows epic battles and tackles philosophical questions about humanity and fate whilst posing the question – what lies beyond?

DEEP SPACE EXPLORATION
Each mission advances the plot further and shows of a new angle of the world being explored with new secrets to discover and react to.

A STELLAR CAST
The game is voiced by big names from iconic Hollywood Sci-fi shows and movies and TV series in Hollywood.

CHOOSE YOUR CREW
Before each mission, choose up to three officers with special abilities that aid your progress through the missions. Recruit more crew members along your journey.

UPGRADEABLE PROGRESSION
All human units can be upgraded. Various upgrades to the ships is applied throughout the campaign. You decide what to enhance and what to leave behind.

COMMAND YOUR FLEET
Build, maintain and strategically use up to 13 ship types to deploy into battle, each with distinct tactical uses during grand strategic space warfare.

I, uh...guess these guys aren't finding Kickstarting a game particularly time-consuming?

Watch the pitch for Hard West. If this is the rts in question then it's already done, and it's also the reason why they needed to kickstart Hard West in the first place (or rather: the fact that Paradox felt like sitting on it instead of releasing it immediately was).

Wait I am really confused, so is this game already finished? The release date says Q3, but isn't the quarter about to end this month or next?

Might this be the reason Paradox did bid on Homeworld IP?
Bingo! Now, it could be interesting to hear official announcement of H3 by Gearbox (i.e. Shipbreakers by some of the former devs). Not to mention rehash of previous titles. Seeing how quiet it is around this project for like a year, Paradox decided to give it a go with their title. Plus a bonus successful kickstarter to promote the announcement.

EDIT:

So, it is actually not Paradox (or at least not only) but this guys:

I am intrigued. Nice jewing with this "cross-promotion" :excellent:

Half of what made Homeworld great is the backstory. I hope they're putting effort into it.

If you ask me Id prefer a type of Battlestar Galactica scenario that we also has in HW1 (remnants of some race running away as a fleet) rather than the "scientific expedition" approach. But well, both can work well if properly executed.

In their Kickstarter they said the game has been finished for awhile now and is waiting for release at an 'opportuun' moment. Decided by the publisher. They also seemed rather upset about it all.

Game meanwhile looks like nothing other than a bog standard gameplay rts with a neat setting and spaceships instead of tanks. Meh.

How many space strategies are here? This year?

If it would have enjoyable gameplay it might be decent.

From what I seen from chinese cracked GalCivIII, it's a crap.

The threshold line
For all their talk of full 3d, the battlespace was looking awfully 2d in those videos.

This. I find that ships lack verticality, and what little there is is lost in the blocky design... Also the interface looks... intrusive... for lack of a better word.
Just nitpicking, I would love a nice 3d RTS so I keep my fingers crossed...

yeah... Every time I see one of those space based RTS that don't make use of 3d space I get disappointed. If the game uses the traditional simplistic rock, paper and scissors kinda of gameplay, I will be disappointed even further.

 Sure they were upset about it. Well since they got people to fund their next crappy game hopefully this one won't be anywhere close to it.
