I'm fairly sure Ulminati is just joking.

The artist portrayed poles as pigs because it was an animal he felt neutral towards.

Actually, someone once told me it's a reference to what Goebbels said about Poles, like Jews as mice is a reference to Hitler's words.

Referring to it doesn't necessarily mean the author identifies with that metaphore.

Thanks for posting this, good read. Also, I see from Wikipedia in Poland the pig thing is more offensive than in the states, which apparently the author was unaware of.

    Mind posting the quotes?

No luck with Google Fu, but like I said this is just something someone told me.

Another nationalistic Polak with minority complexes. The pogroms on jews by Poles done after the war and systematic antisemitism are also "documented things", just as the crackdown on jews by the communist government in 1968, with broad support among the populattion.

    http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antysemityzm#Antysemityzm_na_ziemiach_polskich

The characterization of Poles from a Jewish perspective in Maus is rather mild. Racism against jews is still rampant today in Poland - you just need a minimal dose of honesty and experience to know this - even though there are almost no jews in the whole country.

After giving it some thought I realized there are no jews whatsoever in my circle of friends, among the people I have passing relations with from social activities, people I recall meeting at parties or at work. Christians? Sure. Atheists/Agnostics? Tons. Muslims? Yes and they've generally been decent sorts. hindus? A few. Buddihsts yes, and they're some of the BROest people I've met. People with weird new-age pseudo-pagan religions? A couple of really embarrassing cases that I try to avoid. Jews... Nope. Not a single one. Maybe they're extremely low-key about their belifs. Maybe I move in the wrong social circles. Maybe I simply don't carry enough wealth on my person. They are conspiciously absent from my everyday life through no conscious effort of my own to avoid them.

I guess we can hereby conclude that jews are imaginary and germany never performed genocide! :troll:
