There's a popular saying I know: "someone who has a thatched house don't play with fire". And that's basically why most developers avoid openly talking (bad things) about of other games, whether or not they're direct competitors.

But VD's house is like Cleve's bunker. I would say, nuke'em hard. :salute:

Steam doesn't force developers in any way. You submit your proposed discount and duration and Steam either accepts or rejects with explanation.
Are you going to do a discount? I think it'd be a good idea, at least for a little bit. Lots of people will be perusing Steam looking for good deals.

Game on a generation ship?

Will there be any inspiration taken from Space Mutiny?

edit: I'd avoid making energy weapons use separate skills if they are supposed to be rare with limited ammo. It would just make energy weapons useless as is. Instead have them function off a combination of guns and mechanical or computers

An CRPG similar to Pohls' 'Gateway' would be awesome as well. Taking alien space probes off towards unknown destinations...hoping to strike it rich...

I've never heard about it, but I don't pay much attention to the Obsidian forums, and especially wouldn't read a Skyrim thread.

'Don't pay much attention' = has the private email passwords for only 3 of the moderators.

'Especially wouldn't read a Skyrim thread' = Considers it a waste of time - already bugged the phones and tv's of most of the posters, so she already knows all their gaming and pornography habits anyway.

Congrats, Vault Dweller ! Playing my first "official" playthrough right now!

...and to think you could never have done it without the sporadic and spotty text editing and grammatical help of some special guy. ;)

About Meru, Baalzar and you...
Is it possible to have Balzar possess Meru, and then you become a God? Some kind of 3 way battle between him, Agatoth and Yourself?

No, because the "god" you're actually imprisoning in yourself in the become-a-god ending is Balzaar. If he's in Meru already it don't work.

Ok.

Just "free" Balzaar from his flesh prison then. And I think it's more assimilate than imprison

Hey Vault Dweller -- do you have plans to release any modding tools? I have whipped up a simple-but-fully-functional dialogue editor that I may publically release, but your internal tools are probably nicer. (I don't imagine you write that XML by hand.)

I believe the former works. I think "imprison" is correct because as I understand it the "sleeping god" in the Abyss is a guy that used to be a vessel for a god that was subsequently ejected somehow (and what's left of the guy ain't too healthy). I still don't quite understand what the deal with the warded vessels in the Magi era was tho. Maybe they should have screened their people to have 7 int and 7 con.

I don't think they wanted to create gods, they wanted to take their knowledge/become better magi as a result. The wardings only failed because the Qantari were cucks and intentionally ruined them. (Although the part where the magi just turn a blind eye to the Qantari and delegate important tasks to them seems really out of character and dumb and one of those "well the plot needs this to move forward, so the magi are suddenly retarded just because" moments.) Hence why the wardings work perfectly when you use them, since the Qantari aren't around to fuck it up anymore.

The real WORST KEBAB are the magi who worshipped Agathoth though, the reversal of the ritual was 100% effective, if the rebel magi hadn't been swallowing Agathoth's dick 24/7 the empire would have been mostly fine, and as I recall it's implied the rebel magi were the ones who wrecked Ganezzar, not the Qantari or gods.

Vault Dweller What are you considering for dialogue system of the colony ship RPG? Do you try to design the keyword system in the vein of Wizardy 8 and Daggerfall, like you mention in this article? (Image links are broken, btw.) I hope so.

No (not for this game, at least). I want to try something different and see if it works. If not, we'll go with what we did in AoD.
