I think if you count The Sims along all its expansions, it would beat even WoW, which is somewhat unfair to include in this list since it's a subscription based MMO.

Is this just counting boxed sales of WoW, or subscription fees too? The way it's listed with other boxed games makes me think that's just retail sales.

I don't think they count just retail sales since for example:

Mario Kart Wii -> $1.4 billion -> 28 million copies sold
WoW -> Over $10 billion -> 15 million copies sold

I don't know how reliable that list is, though. They also put a screenshot from GTA 3 in GTA 4 :M

Business Insider isn't really to be taken seriously, I wonder if they forgot to include other MMOs in there. Has Everquest made $1 billion? possibly.

    Damn that's a lot of money. 1 billiard dollars = 1 000 000 000 000 000 dollars.

I don't see how this list would interest any codexer in the least.

Isn't 15 million kind of a low number, taking into consideration that they have had 11ish million peak subscribers and that there are 3(?) expansions on the market? If 15 million is accurate (for the base game), that's some impressive addiction rate.

How lovely top 10 sales reflects the state of the industry. All of those games are pure shit. Maybe Sims when it started was interesting to try, and WoW in vanilla, but overall shit games sells. So Developers make shit games.

Unless totally streamlined and made accessible (you know what i mean) there is 0 chance of RPG to make to this list.
