And apparently the major event is in the middle of the day, in the middle of the working week in the US.
And practically at night for most of the EU.

Great planning, all along

If anyone is interested in watching the Citizencon livestream, prepare your wallet. You have to buy a digital ticket to see the full stream. Not joking

https://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/citizencon/faq

What is a digital ticket?
Digital tickets include live streaming access to all presentations, exclusive digital items given away at CitizenCon, including an in-game wearable duster jacket, access to purchase exclusive CitizenCon merchandise, plus an Imperator subscription for the month of October. (Subscription included will begin on October 9th and expire on November 9th)

Why do I have to pay for the livestream?
The scope of this year’s event, plus, the staffing and technical requirements of streaming two parallel stages, necessitates a ticket price. We strive to provide a digital experience that is as satisfying and comprehensive as possible.

Yep, this game is totally not a scam. lol What a shitshow. If you want a laugh, go check SC subreddit

I think it’s fully intentional. As is the pay-per-view stuff. Their goal is to discourage anyone but the craziest die-hard fans to visit the show or view it online.

Their dilemma: they have to do this event, canceling it would look really bad and raise even more questions about the project. At the same time, they have embarrassingly little to show, so they are intentionally trying to put less eyes on the stream.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
All I know and remember about this project:
It was gonna be great - but I didn't help Kickstart it.
It was gonna take forever to make - but would be worth your money.
Something about the developer and his wife making off with everyone's money.
Something about all of that not being true, they're actually working on it - but it was still gonna take forever, and it's still gonna be great.

Edit: How long has it been now? 6 years? WIll a single player campaign ever materialise, or something like X3?.

If we presented this to a specialist on cults, I figure they'd flip their shit and scramble to raise alarm immediately.

Other people have created whole games for 27k...
That is both funny and tragic.

I used to joke Chris Roberts will make people that bought the game pay again for the final release (if it even happens), but at this point it's becoming more valid.

The only entertainment we'll get out of this train wreck is when the ongoing legal case forces CIG to reveal how much of the backer's money has gone on hookers and blow. Although I'm really looking forward to a 'leak' of the source code to see what they've actually been doing all these years.

I have a theory that in STD clinics, whenever their patient has a positive result, they give them a discount coupon to the nearby tattoo parlour. But it only applies for highly visible locations.

A couple days ago I saw a video on youtube about "the most expensive virtual purchases" and half of that list was a game called Entropia Universe, that I have never heard of, despite the fact that it launched in 2003, that uses a direct 1:10 USD:in-game currency conversion and lets you pay out. And people have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for shit in it. I'm 99% sure that is a money laundering front.

Nah, is more like mmorpg gambling-gameplay world (like, to farm you need actual $$$ items, then sell the loot for $$$),

Now, star citizen is the actual money laundering thing. (hundred of millions for what? For those supposed 500+ "developers/staff" who actually produced little to nothing after years?)

Looks a lot like a Derek Smart game with a higher budget, doesn't it... No wonder he's pissed, this was plagiarism all along :D
