For some reason I couldn't get it to work before, but it turns out that dgVoodoo also emulates dithering (turn up the brightness if the effect isn't visible):

If you liked the first part, you won't be disappointed. It's another Doom + Super Mario interactive journey, with lots of cool levels which we will visit. They aren't big, but it still feels like one of the biggest wads ever made. We've got forests, swamps, snowy mountains, candy world, demonic world and more. The best thing, is that overall quality is higher and there is no decline whatsoever. Of course there are some underwater levels, or parts of them as well. There are some new monsters added as well, including bosses. People who don't like platforming in FPS games should not try it though, as later on you will need to do really timed and carefully made jumps to avoid the deadly cannons and spikes. The weapons have been changed, and you can upgrade them if you gather enough of big coins, which can be given after that to the various merchants in shops that we can visit to replenish our health,armor and ammo.

Right now this is a number I on Cacowards 2018 list for me. Excellent wad, and I'll be back to replay it with all secrets unlocked, after refreshing my memory with its predecessor after a while.

It’s always been a dream of mine to finish this one. I’ve been playing it on and off, and it’s taken me years to get to get to this stage. I finished the main campaign more than five years ago and got burned on it. I completed the first mission of the expansion (sorry, “Mission CD”) a year after, and I’m finally playing it again to complete it. Interestingly, the first expansion scenario is the trickiest because you have to race for the gold and get there before the AI; if you don’t get it first, you are pretty much doomed.

Four levels left. I can do it!

North America was much easier (and faster) than expected. The expansion maps are quite expansive (har har!) but this one places the enemy HQ rather close to yours. The yellow enemy wasn’t much of a threat since it didn’t have access to gold, but the red enemy did. We got stuck at a chokepoint.

Two chokepoints, actually.

Of course, the tried and true strategy is to build a fortress at the frontier, or maybe a watchtower. Those two buildings allow you to quickly and efficiently promote soldiers to general. The more soldier in a building, the more value per gold coin spent on that building. A catapult or two do not go amiss to dispatch enemy resistance if it has been upgraded with gold, else it’s faster to just send your own golden soldiers to kill their little n00bs.

This one was the shortest of the expansion set so far. Your enemies are very close to your starting position, but you also have easy access to gold, iron, and coal. The red enemy gave me some trouble at the start but, overall, it went as smooth as buttered sodomy.

Currently in South America. This one is rather intense because you have to clear a lot of stone and trees before you can make any headway, giving the enemy plenty of time to develop itself and upgrade its soldiers. The AI is dumb so it will hit a wall at some point, but progressing through their territory to locate their HQ is drudgery.
