I'm sorry, but Morrowind simply is not a good 'game' but it is a good digital world

-hopelessly generic NPCs who's dialogue system is entirely copy+pasted, almost all unique dialogue is only for people involved in quests
-copy+pasted dialogue is not even good/immersive, everyone talks like a GPS/wikipedia hybrid (this along with the above bullet point is my #1 problem with the game)
-HORRID combat, even after you get your skills set up so you don't miss anymore it just feels like shit and involves 0 actual skill, directional attacks are completely pointless because one of those attacks does more damage than the others no matter the situation
-Vivec city, the largest grouping of structures in Vvanderfall, is six identical, boring giant hut like buildings with copy+pasted interiors (interiors DO have some unique additions, but for the most part are copy+paste)
-travel system, esp. early on, is anti-fun incarnate, unless you like holding shift to walk around while you stare at the ugly swamp enviorns of the bitter coast
-speaking about graphics, the world itself has a decent amount of variety and art direction is actually great, but technically the models, textures and animations were ASS for the time, only the water was impressive
-Balmora is suppose to be divided into unique districts based around class but everything looks more or less the same throughout the town
-0 power or benefits to becoming guild leader, most guild NPCs won't even acknowledge you as the leader

edit: also the quests were ass for the most part, less back story for most guild jobs compared to even Obliv/Skyrim YIKES

Morrowind is pretty much objectively a 6 or a 7 out of 10, completely buoyed by its (admittedly incredible) lore and world. If the lore/world sucked it would be like a 3

-Likely wears merchandise sold by a Twitch streamer.
-If a new tab is opened on browser, the first immediate link is to a Blacked porn video.

These games are worse than Morrowind, they aren't even RPGs.

Also I'm waiting for a reply to my critiques? You guys don't just worship Morrowind because of some sort of pathetic, illogical herd mentality, do you? I'm sure you have an actual reason for why you think Morrowind has good gameplay, right?

that sucks, I like pork and booze

As a Swedish Muslim you lose the following traits:

-Rationality
-Physical Appeal
-Hygiene
-Peaceful Neighbour

You inherit the following bonuses, innate to your kit:

-Gangrape (Requires 2 or more Muslims (not restricted to Swedish)
-Cultural Destruction (Once per day you begin construction on a mosque)
-Albanian Entitlement (+3 to your Conviction stat when holding a conversation with any Christian Folk)
-BOOM (You self-destruct, taking the lives of many Infidels with you. The radius of this explosion is increased based on how high your Conviction and Faith stats are)

In addition you have 40 points to spend in Trapmaking, Preaching and Torture as you see fit.

You probably weren't around back then, were you? When it came out, it blew people off. In the magazines, people wrote rumors that the full potential of the graphics engine still wasn't unlocked and would unlock once better PCs would come out. It was crazy. When I saw it, I thought the graphics could never get any better and that we had hit the ceiling.

I was. Morrowind looks worse than Deus Ex, which also looked bad when it came out btw

Crysis 2 looks better than Skyrim, but the genre is different.
Same thing with Morrowind.

GPU requirements are different for open world games, since they require different rendering techniques.

I.e. for its genre, Morrowind looked stunning. Consider other 3d rpgs that came before and how they looked in comparison. Like take MM7 and compare the two. The difference is revolutionary.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I've reached a point where I just don't fuck with these first person walking simulators anymore. They're so mind-numbingly boring, I can't handle it. That being said, I'm neutral on the OP's comments. Hard to disagree with him though when I have yet to see a single comment refuting the points that OP has made to explain why Morrowind is such a good game.
