Some investigation:

After a few hours, on a refresh (F5), you can see that at first the right video is displayed, but immediately after that it seems to refresh the content and the wrong video is inserted. AJAX?

You're right, the videos and sequence stays the same. A new article has been posted and they shifted again. The new top-most one(s) don't show the new ones, but the previous ones.

I use Firefox, with only uBlock and some download extensions. I didn't check in Chrome. So, not that I know.

Trust me, it isn't.

This problem has been since forever. For me, a reload has pretty much always fixed the issue.
It usually happens to me when I visit the front page, but it is outdated. In that case, it seems to insert videos one article upwards (or downwards?).

This more or less happens randomly all the time. You could call it one of the Codex's worst-kept secrets, except nobody really cares because it goes away on refresh.

It's not just videos -- it can happen with any sort of embedded content, such as SoundCloud tracks.
