Merlkir , I see the new Runequest Glorantha did a little revisionism to the Orlanthi, giving them a more Mycenean look. It feels more inspired by the Illiad than, say, the Icelandic Sagas as was apparently the case in KoDP.

Question: What's Six Ages take on them?

It's not just Runequest, this has been the case for some time, even from before the Guide to Glorantha I worked on. That's the "canon" look now, and to whatever extent it was (;)), that's what we worked with.

My bronze age Orlanthi -

also this is one of the first ever Glorantha pieces I did, for the Sartar Companion (?):

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind comes to the iOS App Store on 28 June, with preorders starting 21 June. It will sell for US$ 9.99.

We’re currently developing the game for other platforms, and expect to release them next year.

To get a taste of the game, you can watch our launch trailer.

Although we have a build approved for the App Store, we’re still fixing bugs and making small changes. There’s not much time left before launch, so we’re trying to triage issues to make sure they aren’t likely to break anything unexpectedly, and that QA will be able to verify that the change actually works.

We’re also still busy revamping our web site and marketing.

We hope that Ride Like the Wind is the first in a series of six related games. You’ll be able to play them in any order, but the idea is that you can continue the story of a clan through the ages.

The designers of King of Dragon Pass, David Dunham and Robin D. Laws, have refined the classic game.

Compared to King of Dragon Pass, play is both simpler and richer. You’ll get to make more decisions in combat, and can appease an assortment of spirits as well as build shrines to your gods. You’ll explore an unknown land about four times as large, and can choose a special action to perform each year. Food production is less complex.

Of course, you will still have advisors with unique personalities, and will follow their stories over multiple generations. Your cows will show your prestige. And you’ll be able to visit the land of the gods.

We’re working hard to do the last final polish, so you’ll be able to enjoy the game at the end of the month!

Maybe look at it this way - you'll already get an updated version on release? (there will most likely be some content added over time)

Some info from the website:
Life between myths. Clans, cows, choices.
The spiritual successor to King of Dragon Pass, Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind combines interactive fiction and turn-based strategy. Your small clan’s survival depends on its relations with the warring gods and their followers. Play involves actions such as improving pastures, exploration, trading with your neighbors, and raiding. You can even travel to the Otherworld to visit your gods. You also need to deal with crises ranging from marauding dinosaurs to diplomatic requests to illicit love. Your choices have a politico-economic impact, but some consequences might not be obvious for decades.

There's also a Discord for SA, if you're into that: https://discord.gg/Jkb9z3M

Also not sure if Codex would be into doing that for the mobile version, but:

Well, I hope you get enough revenue from applepeople to stick around and do some post-release. I'll buy it the moment it's on something else.

Wow. That's... disappointing. As someone who was really not a fan of the various "Quality of Life" features that the iOS version of KoDP introduced, it's disheartening to know that Six Ages was designed from the ground up for mobile platforms. Seems especially weird to me what with the focus on hand drawn/painted art. Nothing like looking at a high quality piece of art on a 2"X4" screen.

Regardless, Six Ages will be a D1P for me, KoDP certainly bought that amount of faith.

Going to go into spoiler mode now will and not check this thread until the *ahem* PROPER release. Best of luck with the initial launch (no trolling).

Now...i’m a Pc gamer myself, but have you ever seen an iPad? The screen is very nice and I’d say ideally big. Playing KoDP or 6A feels like reading a book with pretty pictures.
It almost sounds wrong to me now to imagine playing the game on a monitor. (That’s just habit, it’ll play perfectly fine)

But if you’re worried about some visual downgrade, why? We have the art scanned and processed in 4k, if that’s ever needed.

edit: KoDP scene art, btw, is 640x360.

While I appreciate your thoughts, I've been playing games on a monitor for the last 25 years and it'll be a cold day in hell before I buy an Apple product, which I loathe with every gram of my computer-building, OS-customizing, open-software-supporting being.

That said, I'm only upset because it was never really clear that the game would only be available for iOS at this time and I've been watching the "IT'S COMING SOON" announcements closely because of it. So fuck it, I'll curb my enthusiasm like everyone else for a year.

No disagreement on Apple, I only got my ipad for testing purposes. It’s not bad, but yes to all that about openness and crappy business practices.
