This game was quite capable of moody setpieces. Too bad the tech was wasted on goofy shit and mostly bad art direction with garish, overbright lighting.

Enjoying it, though. I've heard it gets a lot worse after Cyseal, but after spending 20 hours in the first map, I feel like it was already worth the price. What a shame that the sequel was ruined. They had something special on which to build here. Oh well.

I really liked that you could fight each of the king's lieutenants separately in the field outside the cathedral, the Baron fight was especially amusing (and quite tough). The king fight itself smoked me the first time, but upon reload I duly cheesed the doorway and the AI was unable to deal with it.

This is the sort of shit that should have been worked on in the sequel, not adding that retarded armour system and fucking up initiative. That, and levels being the most important stat in the game, by far. Nothing makes as much of a difference as simply increasing in level. This sort of MMO-inspired design has no place in a game that is supposed to reward creativity.

Okay then. Let's hit R to target the nearest enemy.

Then you are supposed to hide in the minefield from a bunch of TIE Advanced until reinforcements arrive. I barely escaped with broken instruments and the reddest of hulls. Cool mission.

The Majestic will send 6 shuttles to the Glory at once, one of them with the kidnapped Emperor on board (I'm assuming he is just going along with it for his own amusement). The objective is to find the Emperor and disable the shuttle with Ion Cannons, preferably before Zaarin's squadron of TIE Advanced arrives. So I inspect the shuttles, find the Emperor, shoot a missile to lower its shields, then disable it no problem. Two seconds later I hear laser shots and the shuttle explodes. What? Emperor dead, mission failed!
How? I didn't do anything. Maybe the other shuttles were trying to kill me and hit the Emperor's shuttle by accident? I restart the mission, locate the Emperor again, disable the shuttle, and... it gets blown up again! What am I supposed to do?! Who is killing the Emperor?!

I asked the briefing guy.

How about Shift H to send them home!
You can't trust these guys.

Otherwise this mission was easy, underwhelming even, considering it's the final mission of the main campaign.

My skill is too big for 16 bits.

I'm going to tackle the DLC Expansions later.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
After refreshing Heretic campaign I finally started searching for some custom campaigns. Heretic Treasure Chest looked really promising, since it's got 3 episodes. It was interesting to see how designers would put their skills to use in a game that was quickly forgotten due to the Hexen release and feeling overall like a Doom total conversion.

Mostly there are small / medium sized levels, which are really nicely designed and I could see most of them in original as well. They have also many traps and design that Raven still didn't think about when making their first move in FPS genre. But in each episode there is a behemoth like level that will make you sweat seeing their size and number of enemies. You need a lot of patience and attention to keep your progress and find the exit. It's like you would merge a couple of smaller levels into one.

HTC was made to run on limit removing ports such as Gzdoom, and you can see why. The difficulty level is way higher in the vanilla, and we must always keep our eyes on the surroundings. Clearly it was made for those who have already finished the vanilla 7 times and want more challenge. I wish someone make a similar Treasure Chest for Hexen.

You're playing the win95 version. Did you manage to make the midi music work from the original CD ROM version? Music in this version are just CD tracks from john Williams' original score for SW.
I know, it's a real shame. I did some research beforehand and found this mod that replaces the music with a re-orchestrated version of the original soundtrack.
