After reading the interview, I have arrived at the other side and now embrace "Disco Elysium" completely.

Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In
The art is really interesting, and detective stuff is refreshing.
The main character reminds of those old school hard core alcoholics who hate themselves, but can solve mysteries at will.

Wishlisted.

And now, without reading anything more about it, it's time to forget it until release.

Kurvitz said:
So in our game, the world is beautiful and extreme and terrifying enough for it to have a nickname, a way for them to express a love for this reality that they’re in, which is quite beautiful at times, too. They call it ‘Elysium’, and it’s a kind of amor fati world-spirit expression for these people, and your character can find that out by asking people.

So from that moment on I’ve felt I’ve owned this name. Of course since it’s taken 14 years for us to do it, some kind of cynical assholes have ran it to the ground already, but this is ground I won’t concede. This is a name I will fight for, and I wanted it in the fucking title. We couldn’t just call it ‘Elysium’ because Neill Blomkamp fucked up already, so we called it Disco Elysium because the dude has disco clothes on in it. But it is an introduction of our setting, which is Elysium, and we’re not backing off from it – we wanted to claim it for ourselves. It was a territorial power move on our parts, to get the title in there.
So that's the reason for changing the name?

Because the word "Elysium" has never been used before in video games.

Read the interview. He wants to claim it from the unfortunates who made the mistake of using it before in video games. “It’s a power move.”

Also now he’s on the record for being better than China Miéville. Them’s fightin’ words

It seems to me today is a kind of Christmas. Ho! Ho! Ho!

F**** incredible piece of interview! I'm serious.
Usually for me it's not easy to read this long pieces of text, they are boreing and bland in general - I have a feeling people talk long about things they could talk short, and are glad to talk about miniscule minor things instead of main things.

This acticle is different - I didn't even notice how I read all this.
Great staff, many parts was already spoken, something wasn't, and as a whole it bring better understanding of agame, the world it is set in, and of course the author.
Cheers, Marat Sar!

We didn’t want to make that classical RPG mistake of putting a lot of world-building first. We want the personal stuff first, and then we want you to slowly realise that this isn’t your world.

Yeah, there was a game recently, who did it in worst case scenario.

By the way, cabine of this thing - motor carriage right? - remind me the cabin of combine harvester, which I always thougt was cool.

Also this comment from article

Let’s make sure we don’t Spore or No Man’s Sky this game – that is to say, build it up so much that it can’t possibly ever live up to expectations. Be careful with the hype.

I agree with haha. I mean I think everyone have some examples in their mind how some song that is REALLY good, and sounds from every window, microwave oven and even iron to the point everybody start to moking that song and singer.

Art of this games looks so nice.
Dont understand what people see in the art. The skillset drawings are good but the portraits and the general "visible brushstrokes" style of the graphics, sucks.

What is this, a GTA loading screen?

Can any of the devs say why was this particular style chosen and what purpose it serves in the game, other than to say "look how artistic we are" and possibly to draw easily impressed audiences on account of vibrant colors?

I have to say that I am not a fan of the artwork. Never liked that kind of painting. However, if they were aiming for the turn of the 20th Century type feel, they got it pretty much down pat, what with the muttonchop whiskers and the like.

When you say the style of our graphics (sic!) I would think you´re talking about the art in the game (yes, inside the game. when you play it.) But it seems to me you´re confusing promotional art (in the quotes below) and in-game art (Screenshots and the like. Check Youtube for gameplay snippets and glimpses of the game in the trailers).

possibly to draw easily impressed audiences on account of vibrant colors?
So you´re saying that the promotional art is bad for being good promotional art?

Honest to god - people kept asking me on the show floor if it´s a post apoc/dystopian world bc it looks so bleak and colorless. Blizzard has really done their job well. Color is no longer a color unless it roundhouse kicks you in the teeth.
is this colorful enough?

Kasparov you got any Polacks in the art department? Getting some familiar vibes off of them pics.
No Polish brothers or sisters, but our sensibilities are well rooted in the Soviet and even longer Russian traditions - perhaps there´s a connection there.

All points in motorics

All points in savoir faire

Since all gunshot skills are based on motorics you will be a great fighter at distance. I wonder if toward the end of the game you have still 5 motorics and 200+ savoir faire....every criminal will be more able than you with the gun because you didn't invest??
