This was my 3rd time trying to finish the game due to a few people saying hey its not that bad especially after the patches. First was on release version hard where the game became braindead after first 1/3 of the game. Then I tried it on potd where it again became braindead passed first 1/3 of the game. If any fight was actually challenging I could just put my tank in doorway and cast random shit on enemies - ez game ez life.
Then came the "patches fixed the game" codextards. Again I start on POTD The patches put band aids on unsalvageable game. It's like installing mods for witcher 3 to make combat less braindead - it doesn't fucking work. The game is broken at the very core. Yes some of the abilities and tactics didn't work so well, instead having swarms of teleporting crap to deal with.
_Combat_ (POTD fuck off if you played diapers mode)
* Nearly every ability/spell in the game is completely useless and not worth the time it takes to cast. The abilities that are useful you just spam over and over. Choices here are illusions. The few spells that aren't useless are mostly boring acc buffs.
* The only "strategy" in the game due to the shit engagement system is to put tanks in doorways. Since the last version of the game, this doesn't work sometimes. If you have massively teleportating gameplay situation you can surround your squishes with tanks at a corner so that enemies can't teleport on top of them.
You can do the really tedious abuse of the game where you send you tanks first wait until everything is engaged and committed and then bring your backline from a mile away. Alternatively the easiest way to deal with new bullshit is just don't have a backline. Make a party of primary tanks and secondary tanks who use long reach dicks.
* Engagement system makes mobility during combat highly restrictive. Why would using physical movement/positioning as a strategy be something that needs a mechanic against? This is such an incredibly dumb design decision. Fun is not allowed boys.
* Why the fuck are there 1000000000 different "tanky" attributes. Yea that doesn't even sound like a good idea ON PAPER.
* Combat is so fast that you can spend nearly all of it in pause mode. If the speed isn't the issue, its because the visibility is so poor you have to pause to let your mind make sense of the shitstorm happening.
* The optimum way to play seems to be to buff the shit out of your accuracy and do 1000000 dps with pure physical dps characters and ignore the shitshow that are abilities/spells.
* Endurance system is poorly thought out. Winning feels very unsatisfying because you can still win despite losing because your characters just get up. Alternatively you lose despite winning because you still have to go back to town for camping gear because of sheer amount of copy pasta encounters that like to teleport on top of your squishies that apparently develop victim mentality that lowers their maximum endurance.
_ Items _
* Unique items are uniquely trash at being unique.
* There are basically two viable choices for armor. Light and ultra heavy. Who the fuck thought that doing everything 30% + slower would be acceptable for a few + dr especially in a game where combat is both over fast and casting/reloading takes so fucking long.
* Why are half of the enchantments specific to a prticular creature type? Yea let me spend money real quick so I can do +1 damage for just this encounter. ???
_ Game / Story _
* What was the point of spending all that money on the keep? That was obviously an unfinished feature.
* Outside of few main encounters the quests/atmosphere lacks meaning. Too many mmo style fetch quests. And how could it be any different gives how many of them there are? It is like instead of throwing out the trash ideas they just made a separate quest for each of them.
* Writing is mostly walls of text for little reward. Skipping text became irresistible urge very fast. There are very few charming, clever, morally interesting situations to want to explore through text. HELP BRING ME THIS SHIT K THX THE END
* Traveling through the same places gets old really fast especially to finish the trash quests that send you back and forth or refill your 2x camping gear.
* C&C is basically an illusion during conversation. Every conversation choice is basically : I am jesus please give me an item instead of gold. I am decent human being but I like gold. I am an edgelord who will rape and pillage your town because I am on my second play-through.

I rate this game - if you have nothing to play to a point of attempting this game, you should just read a novel.
