Role-playing. Or maybe role-observing since most RPGs don't have much C&C.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Numerical character progression, C&C and exploration. And some semblance of a story that's above the quality of Feargus' goodreads stuff.

Coming face -to-face with real-world such as racism and sexism. It wasnt until I played as a Dark Elf that I realized how awful white people can be.
Great point.
Dark Elves are pretty racist too though.

I like playing top-down rpgs with grounded proportions of characters and items with preferably no trace of anime influence and game mechanics that encourage good old-fashioned brainwork and a story that is intimate and human.

Lots of things I like about RPGs, but my absolute favorite is creating and developing a character that faces challenges the way I imagine that he should. For this process to be satisfactory, the challenges need to be hard, and there needs to be significant C&C within character building.

Feeling like I have to pick through every single highlighted container like a hobo desperate for some liquor.

No wait....that's what I dislike the most. My bad...

You a queer or something - that's the Hallmark of any good RPG

That's the hallmark of every RPG...doesn't mean I like it. It's a mechanic that should go away....like you. Go away.

According to the modern playerbase, EVERYTHING is an RPG. I kid you not. Back in my day games like XCOM and Jagged Alliance 2 were called strategy games, now they are just "rpgs".

Assassins Creed Origins has exploration, story, inventory, skills, etc, it is an RPG.

Call of duty has equipment and skills, it is an RPG.

FIFA has a story mode with a footballer you can improve, it is an RPG. You can even roleplay a coach.

Speaking of coaches, Football manager series are RPGs. You roleplay a football manager.

Euro Track Simulator is an RPG, you roleplay a truck driver.

Tetris is an RPG, you roleplay a mason.

Dark Souls, a 3rd person metroidvania, is an RPG.

Batman Arkham games are RPGs

MOBAs are RPGs

Counter strike is RPG.

Writing on a forum is RPG.

You kids need to educate yourselves, seriously.

To elaborate on my previous point:
RPG, like almost no other genre and certainly no other genre dealing with more or less individual level storytelling, allows player to own their experience.
You are not just playing someone else's vision or a series of random RNG coincidences. You are co-authoring a story that is your and no one else's.
