I played Prismata back in 2014 when it was a super simple prototype and didn't think much of it. I came back to it last week and hooo-weee has it changed. After blasting through the trivial campaign, I started with the Combat Training that teaches you how to properly play the game better than any tutorial on any other game through puzzle matches.

It's NOT a CCG. Units are pooled for both players at the beginning of the game so you don't build your deck. The game unlocks units progressively, but never randomly. It doesn't have random packs, unit unlocks, or power levels. The game costs a fixed amount of money, and has IAPs for cosmetics.

The AI is amazingly good at the game, apparently they got awards for it and all, so the single player bot can really kick your ass. The game will never be MTG, but has enough depth to be fun for a long while.

Grab the Codex by the pussy
Yeah, this has been on my wishlist for a while. I may give it a whirl at some point.

My only gripe with the game at all is that there are, very rarely, sets of cards that lay out a very clear optimal path, which is basically just a cointoss as to who can get the winner card first. But I've only had like 1 game like that out of probably a hundred so far, so it's still a billion years ahead of all the games that allow any sort of mana screw/curve failure effect to occur.

The game went F2P a month ago. It's pretty great! Literally zero RNG, if that's what you're into.
