Unfortunately historicity isn't Darklands' best feature.
In fact, it would probably have been more successful had it been slightly less historic and more fantastic. The game's fantastic elements, drawn from religion and folklore, are much more interesting than the "historic" elements.
If you are a fan of Darklands, I recommend Martin Scorsese's movie Silence. Now that would be an awesome faux-historical rpg setting.
As for other computer games, I think the closest would be Crusader Kings 2 and Sid Meier's Pirates!
Which he will start making, right after he joins Larian. You can also wait for Sawyer's resignation from Obsidian so he can make his dream turn-based historic game set in HRE.
Well, Sagrada Familia is still being builtWhy nobody builds gothic cathedrals anymore? because nobody would pay for them/buy them.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Wasn’t the original developer going to release a sequel but it was canceled or something?

Building cycle of several hunderd years is pretty normal for original Gothic churches too. Look at Notre Dame or Cologne Cathedral.Well, Sagrada Familia is still being builtWhy nobody builds gothic cathedrals anymore? because nobody would pay for them/buy them.
