He wants to make alternate history game where there is magic(eew); KCD guys knows better not to ruin their game with nonsense stuff like magic.

Disagree.

The difference between historical and fantasy Rpgs is that the latter has the same things of the former plus a lot of more fun stuff.

Any fantasy game can reproduce historical stuff, like monks monastery or castle sieges, but not viceversa. So historical games are boring and dull as fuck. They are poor cousins of fantasy ones.

KDC is more accurate and realistic than the Witcher 3 but it is a lot more boring and flat. NOT WORTH.

FANTASY RPG:

Humans, Skeletons, Demons, Wild beasts, Dragons, Ghosts, Ghouls, Cobolds, Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, Vampires, and many others.

REALISTIC RPG:

Humans, Wild beasts.

"We have 30 dungeons in the game, they are awesome but we could only fit all of them with bandits because, you know this is not a fantasy Rpg."

How much more fun Alpha Protocol could have been if there was Skeletons, Demons, Wild beasts, Dragons, Ghosts, Ghouls, Cobolds, Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, Vampires, and many others, right(not to say AP is realistic in the truest meaning of the word).

Its your taste but I disagree that there have to be fantasy elements for some rpg to be fun, tho what Josh's saying is not your usual fantasy so there is some hope if he ever gets the chance to make it :P

Sorry if i wasn't clear, but i meant medieval Rpgs.

Modern times are better even if realistic because there are lot of weapons, planes, ships, and stuff.

Is Obsidian Entertainment an Illuminati front to promote death and despair throught the known world?
Don't know about Obsidian, but RPGCodex is definitely an illuminati front

Stop with the genre-gate keeping says Sawyer.

Except it's not gate-keeping, it's a simple observation and fact. It's kind of like saying "2+2=4" and some people protesting that we shouldn't "math-gate". An action game is not an RPG, like an RTS isn't a TBS, etc.

Genre isn't an arbitrary invention, especially one as strict as an RPG. It might be a very popular narrative that RPG is a nebulous genre that is hard to define, but it's not. Only degenerates and decline-enablers believe that.

Why is KCD not a RPG? I ask out of ignorance, I have not played it and know little of it except that it takes place in late medieval Kingdom of Bohemia.

It's a game in which stats determine what your character can and can't do, and/or you give orders that are interpreted (like the IE games). As opposed to action games where the character is an extension/avatar of you and depends on your own reflexes.

KCD is a mix of both then? An action RPG?

That's an oxymoron. It can't be an action game and an RPG at the same time, at best it's an action game that has stats that matter a little. Like Deus Ex and System Shock 2.
