Can you change the look of the main character? i don't want to play as a femboy with cat ears
Main character is that person in the suit. Basically low ranked male office lady without inferiority complex.

And you can change clothes. Once?

Anyone else got it as well?

Edit: Ok so I'm coming into this game without knowing anything at all and the first 5 minutes already confused the hell out of. So the main character is
The president of the United States? What?

Out on your local friend with black flag as well. So this area would be bit spoiler heavy. So animation is awesome, and these additional battles are nice.

Hm,initial reports are that the game is piss easy. That seems like a big deal breaker unless the combat system has some complexities(like in resonance of fate or arc rise fantasia),but i doubt it.

Seems like its got the same flaws as the original game. You'd figure the dev team would take feedback, but I guess they want these games to primarily appeal to Japanese children and beta anime fans only, so making it piss easy makes sense in that regard.

People online are saying that they wish it was more like the original one in terms of difficulty since it was a lot more punishing, so I think you're wrong there.

If people found the original game punishing or difficult in the slightest then they don't need to be playing video games to begin with. Get your opinions from someone else, or form your own.

Last boss in NNK1 was insanely difficult due to HP bloat and 1 hit KO special moves, so no.

Uhh, were we playing the same game?

You must have had a really shit party setup if you were getting 1 hit by the final boss.

Hp bloat? Yeah, but that's not difficulty. That's artificial.

Basically:

don't need to be playing video games to begin with.

Hmm, it was a long time that I played it, but I didn't find the last boss to be difficult, and I think I was carrying a party near level 70 or so.

So far I've sunk 11 hours into this. The challenge is certainly an issue, though that's not to say that there is no challenge at all. The main story is woefully lacking of any kind of challenge, but the optional content can get pretty tough if you don't over grind and out gear the side bosses before attempting it. It certainly does feel like it falls into the realm of setting the challenge for yourself rather than the game going out of its way to challenge you. That's my issue number one with the game. My issue number two is that the soundtrack is composed by Joe Hisashi, but there are no beautiful piano instrumentals. The soundtrack is fine, but it never feels like it hits the same plateau as his works in the Studio Ghibli movies, so that's a bit disappointing. Those are my only problems with the game, however. Gameplay is pretty good, especially considering that it's a Level-5 game. It feels smooth and responsive. The world map is pretty big and full of areas you can't access yet, chests you can't unlock and and big high level monsters around every corner; teasing the player with treasures and adventures that they won't be able to access yet for a while. The warfare and kingdom building is pretty basic shit, but they serve a purpose of breaking the tedium by adding something else to do every now and then. With the kingdom building you have to scout the world for extra quests to recruit new people who will be your workers to man your equipment stores and such.
Gud game, like it a lot. Wish there was a Hard mode so it'd be even better.

The one and only question of any importance. How is it on MKB?

Also, the camera auto resets to the most retarded angle when you move, thank god they allow you to turn this feature off.

Game is ruined by a few things...

1. No gorgeous 2d cutscenes

2. Voice acting is underused

3. No emotional connection with characters, unlike the awesome introduction of the first game

4. No more pokemon... Fuck this shit

5. The difficulty is non existent, I have never played an jrpg with such an easy combat system, it's ridiculous

I suppose there's no longer any "wizard's book" as well or anything like that, right?

The chibi world map is also the kingdom building thing, so I have no interest in this game at all.

Seriously, the Ghibli art style is fucking amazing. Why fuck it up with the chibi stuff?

best ghibli art style game I played was the first jade cacoon game. Also best monster sim. Better then all the pokemon, shin megami, monster rancher, digimon. Cause as your monster would level he visually slowly change in appearance grow a little larger, get wings etc. Also had a more captivating story then got to catch em be the best kid or lol kill god.

I don't like blocking and dodging are mapped to the same button. It feels awkward.

You can remap the buttons.

Anyway, played a little bit of this today and it's been pretty fucking terrible so far. It feels like an even more retarded Tales of... game, and that's saying something.

The artistic talent in the game does nothing for me (and I'm a big fan of Joe Hisaishi's works on Ghibli films, music here hasn't been moving in the slightest). The whole intro sequence is absolutely fucking retarded. I'd be willing to muscle through some bad/too easy gameplay if the game had some of those Ghibli movie vibes, but it really doesn't.

Pretty disappointed. Don't think I'm going to keep playing it. I'll just chalk it up to popamole becoming even more popamole. The first one was probably a lot better.

Hm,jumping from 5k to 20k owners on steam spy.I have a feeling it will break a 100k easily.
Also the combat system is better then the first which was a failed attempt at making a pokemon like mix of turn based and real time.
Also there is no way this game is more handholdy then the first. Even after several towns the game would still slowly tell you what to do like you just started playing it.
As for presentation, well you can't beat the ghibli style of the first game.

The first game, though cute, was an absolute chore to play. I have no love for it. Saying that it did anything better is so misguided that I don't even know where to start. Try playing it again, it's awful. There's a reason everyone stopped playing it by cat town.
And now: a clearly better game comes along that's actually done well, ported well, and combines about 3 genres seamlessly, let's all whine about it.

Have you played the recent Tales games, or really any recent JRPGs? The quality hasn't really been that good. This game actually has a fighting system, dungeons that aren't straight corridors, an open world with things in it, side quests. You now. Things that JRPGs used to have.

And yes this children's game starts really easy, but gets a little harder every 10 levels or so. It also does hold your hand a lot, but it could be a real clusterfuck otherwise with all the mechanics it has, so I'm fine with it.
