ITT we point to things BAD games actually did RIGHT. No, we're not saying such games suddenly became "good", when push comes to shove they are still "bad". But we give credit where credit is due. I'll start:

- The Shivering Isles of Oblivion looked REALLY good and the whole "bipolar dimension" thing was interesting and fun.
- PoE has beautiful 2d backgrounds.
- Dragon Age Origins had a decent and fun spell combo system. I think DOS took some inspiration from DAO, maybe?

Inb4 "X game had a nice 'uninstall' button". Yeah, don't be predictable.

Fallout 3 made Deathclaws look pretty sharp (pretty close to the original concept model, actually). Fallout 3's interpretations of the Mister Handy robots and brainbots also honestly looked pretty decent. Rivet City was actually a pretty neat idea at its core. Liam Neeson has an interesting voice.

PoE has good party building.

Tyranny's concept is pretty fucking solid and many RPG's should copy it.

Might & Magic IX was the only thematically sound MM game.

Dungeon Lords is (probably) fun in co-op.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance - see above.

Fallout 3 was the logical successor of Fallout due to FO 1) being basically a single character game because of fucking stupid companions and 2) being combat heavy but combat was super boring and not engaging.

Arcanum like FO had dumb dialogue, taking attributes beyond pure abstraction.

TES: Arena is just fucking beautiful and atmospheric and a fixed class system is much better and more :obviously: for a TES game.

Ultima VII / BG had an interesting foil/ nemesis.

Lands of Lore II had panthers flinging what looked like lethal poo at you, cracks me up every time.

Inquisitor has interesting character building options (not talking about how viable those options are).

Baldur's Gate does a good job of capturing the D&D/high fantasy feel. Combat is shit.

Also, character progression compared between different class archetypes doesn't feel as fucking bonkers as games based on 3E and beyond.

Every game that has a creative or interesting take on dreams looks better compared to To The Moon.
David Cage has been surprisingly successful for someone with a single digit I.Q.
Rambo for the NES had a creative and unusual game world despite being completely unplayable.
Musya is sort of fun despite having wildly inconsistent controls and terrible level design.
Prehistorik had a mediocre sequel, which was far better than its unplayability.
Albion has a creative and detailed game world, too bad it is impossible to get anywhere in it.
Darklands has a great storybook style in towns, too bad that the game stops being fun the moment you leave or get in combat.
Adventures of Batman and Robin for the Genesis makes the awesome SNES game look even better by comparison.
Phillips somehow managed to sell 250,000 CDIs despite the fact that everything about that system was shit.
Lufia and the Fortress of Doom inspired the excellent Lufia 2.

Risen 2: Dark Waters™ might be troubled in a variety of ways but it still offers deep-seated insights on the imperial mentality typically rife in your average male Caucasoid which is so very topical, and essential.

Pillars of Eternity might be troubled in a myriad of ways but it had an irate miniature blue guy which you could slip right into your pocket for quick reference.

Dux Bandicoot 3: Electric Lynching Party might be troubled in multiple ways but the R-18 patch sort of made up for it.

Dragon Age: Inquisition, widely considered a truly shitty RPG (ahem), had a rather innovative way of presenting its world map in the form of a "war table" around which the main characters of the game would congregate and strategize their next move. It featured interesting "chess pieces" and allowed you to visually track the progress you've made and allowed for easy fast travel.

While certainly not unique as a game in this approach, its implementation was well-done, one of the few things the game got right.

Planet Alcatraz - you can use potatoes to heal your wounds
Inquisitor - you can burn heretics
Might&Magic IX - better dungeons than previous games (up to World of Xeen)
Beyond Divinity - plot twist before finale
Icewind Dale - Enhanced Edition - best EE from them all because nobody made any incloosive mod with garbage NPCs
FEAR 3 - ending song
Hopkins FBI - soundtrack
