None of this makes it a true RPG. It is still first and mainly a RTS.

What exactly are you arguing with? The game's thread is in the Strategy Gaming forum. We've never posted any news about it on the front page of the site except for Bubbles' visits to Gamescom. Nobody is saying it's a true RPG, felipepepe will openly admit that he put all sorts of genre hybrids in his poll (and also in his book).
Did you put some people in this topic on your ignore list that you need to ask this?

I'm still true to my "Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game" mentality but I'll definitely pick it up on a Steam sale. It's probably better to wait anyway since they are still patching it.

It is one of the best games from the last year,it is worth the 20 bucks. Had a lot more fun with it than with D:OS2

Being more fun than D:OS2 isn't much of an accomplishment but the game definitely looks very interesting. I like that THQ Nordic are somewhat single handedly bringing back AA productions like this and Elex, allows smaller developers to put their idea in a game without things like Kickstarter.

Played through it the last few weeks and quite liked it. The only problem I had was the gay dwarf (really?) and the German "schuldkult" which poured out of every zest (reeee genocide sorcerers just because they are different).

Also as soon as the worldmap opened I thought this game must be HUGE, was quite disappointed that there were only "a few maps" which you have to visit a few times, but perhaps there will be an or more addons to fix this.

But damn those beautifully crafted maps.

From what people report, it's obvious it's a bit unfinished and rushed. Launching with only 3 races is eyebrow raising as well, since the RTS part isn't so in-depth to sustain that (unlike, say, Starcraft), Spellforce 1 launched with 6 (!) races. I do hope they make enough money for expansions, though, and to be more daring in terms of creativity and design.

How do you kill the monsters in Mulhandir afterwards when you are alone? Can't take on a 2000 HP Golem on my own.

level up more, get better items and don't be afraid to use your consumables. Also it depends on your main character, I got a two handed warrior that leeches life when he hits.
If you are a ranged char or mage kite a lot.

Is there a way for mages to be able to use more than 3 abilities?
One of the most often brought up criticisms of the game.
No idea who came up with the nonsensical notion that you can only have three abilities at once.
Quite baffling, really.

In other news, there has been quite the update:
Changelog
16th February 2018
v1.32
MULTIPLAYER BALANCE UPDATE

GENERAL CHANGES
- Hero leveling speed decreased by about 30%
- The unit AI will now ignore targets that are currently invulnerable
- Units and heroes will no longer be slowed during combat to encourage more active fights

ITEM CHANGES
To give you more options to specialise your heroes and define your playstyle, but also making your choices more significant, we added new defensive item options, increased the cost and effectiveness of specialized gear and placed more items all around.

- Shields added
- One-Handed weapon options added
- Additional armors added

HERO CHANGES
We are adjusting the overall power levels of all heroes to enable more different playstyles and hero combinations.

- Heroes will no longer be slowed down in combat to improve their micro potential
- Occultist / Bloodcaller
-- Assassinate irresistible damage when target is bleeding reduced by 50%
-- Shadowstep cooldown on Lv2+ increased from 2 to 5
- Renegade / Berserker
-- Tear Down on Lv2+ will now deal damage in an area around the target
- Elite Ranger / Bowmaster
-- First Aid reworked to be primarily an out-of-combat healing ability:
--- Cooldown increase from 15 to 30
--- Cast time increase from 1 to 2
--- Level 1 heal is reduced to 25%
--- Level 2 adds 10 seconds of strong health regeneration
--- Level 3 adds an immunity against debuffs
- Shaman / Spiritualist
-- Totems reworked to be more situational
--- All cooldowns increased from 10 to 20
--- Protection totem: resistance increase reduced by 33%
--- Protection totem: Level 2 healing effect reduced by 50%
--- Fire totem: Now damages every 4 seconds instead of 2, while dealing 12 damage instead of 6, including Level 3
- Commander / Guardian
-- Kiss Of Tiara: Level 3 no longer heals
-- Kiss Of Tiara: Level 3 Shield increased from 30 to 60
-- Kiss Of Tiara: Cooldown increased from 10 to 20
- Hierophant / Priest of Tiara
-- Judgement: No longer is a damage-over-time ability, instead deals moderate damage at once and applies impaired for 3 seconds
-- Judgement: Is now cast instantly
- Necromancer / Defiler
-- AI will now ignore spawning zombies while they are still invulnerable

UNIT CHANGES
As with the heroes we are also adjusting the powerlevels of the RTS units to make them more significant in combat.

- Units will no longer be slowed down in combat to improve their micro potential
- Decreased the Elven movement speed bonus in enemy and neutral territories reduced from 30% to 10%
- Human Helbardier: Upgraded range reduced from 28 to 24
- Human Helbardier: Health reduced from 384 to 322
- Human Soldier: Upgraded health regeneration per hit increased from 4 to 8

BUILDING / ECONOMY CHANGES
While Elves are a very strong faction at Tech Level 1, their economic power falls off in the later stages of the game. The following changes are adressed to giving Elves a more active economy.

- [All] Capital II upgrade time increased from 30 to 45
- [All] Capital III upgrade time increased from 75 to 120
- Elves now have stoneworks on Tech Level 1 again
- Elven Defensive Outposts no longer increase population cap
- Elven Economic Outposts now increase population cap: 15/25/45
- Elven Capital upgrade population cap increase reduced by 20/30 respectively
- Elven Outpost I new cost: 10 Planks
- Elven Outpost II new cost: 20 Planks / 10 Brick
- Elven Outpost III new cost: 20 Planks / 20 Brick / 15 Food
- Elven Capital II new cost: 22 Planks / 10 Brick / 10 Food
- Elven Barracks cost reduced from 30 to 20 Planks

These changes as well as your feedback will be closely monitored by us and we will make further improvements to the multiplayer in the future.
We hope that you will enjoy these changes and thank all of you for the continued support of SpellForce 3!

See you all on the battlefield!

v1.33
- Fixed crash in loading screen at 57%

v1.34
BUG FIXES
- Fixed player being able to become stuck in Old-Haalayash
- Fixed world map becoming inaccessible after revisiting certain locations
- Fixed a possible crash when loading savegames on maps where Orcish Shamans were present
More items and fixes are always good, of course.
But the balancing changes seem a bit odd, given that there should be more urgent things to focus on - like the 3 abilities restriction.

Yea the 3 abilities limit is irritating but I don't see them changing it since their default control scheme is about using keys on keyboard 3 for each of 4 heroes in party and there are not more than 3 keys on keyboard for that.
Best they could do is like in Diablo 2 expansion create synergies where leveling other skills gives general bonuses for different skills.

I think they thought you'd use all your heroes as a sort of meta-hero, combining their skillsets as if that. It mostly creates a MOBA-like feel, though.

Now that you mention that, my A team was dwarf (Isgrim?!), elf healer (Yiria?!) and the Guild Mage guy (Untranth?!) and my character. And then when you reach middle point of the game, game removed all of those (that I also gave best items and even bought those expensive permanent potions for) and gave me 3 other random party members LOL for that one mission.

How does it remove them ? Only one that left for me was the gay dwarf because he was retarded and wanted to become Zuckerberg and control the world. I even became lover with the elf girl.

You might be talking about something that I have not yet get to. I am talking about
when Mulandir gets attacked and you have to defend 4 points

What do the two special potions you get from your commanders at the greyfell attack do? I noticed nothing when drinking them?

It just gives you more focus and health, it just doesn't update right away.
How does the extra damage work tho? Lets say you do light and fire damage, does it split 50/50 or does it pick the best damage considering the enemies res?

Even 750 ml of vodka, if drunk fast enough, can get you into the toxicology department at Pirogov and may possibly kill you, regardless of your tolerance. You'll be dead long before you've drunk 3 litters.

He’s clearly been at it all day, so divide that by sixteen odd hours? Since whenever his posts started to get wobbly. He’s still posting now, presumably not dead. Maybe an imperfect grasp of the metric system? I know that’s really unusual in Europe, but he loves Spellforce 3 and that game was such a huge goddamn letdown.

Less than the sum of its parts.

Edit: I take it back, he’s been dark for a few hours—probably asleep? I doubt he’d really drink three liters. Alcohol overdose is so passé.

A lot of people post drunk on the Codex. I like the fact they think about it while drunk, if that's not true love, I don't know what is.
