Prepare for this teasy PR bullshit for years and years to come. Hashino himself said somewhere recently that P5 gave him a lesson on how to market shit, and that basically means years and years of leaving snippets of PR faggotry here and there.

It's turn-based RPG in Unreal Engine 4, heh.

A 3D ancient and fantasy RPG console game is created by Beijing Joyfun(Wangyuan shengtang’s branch company). Users will have a fabulous adventure and start their own legend in a fictional world based China’s traditional mythology. The unique development team gathered the top talents from the Giant China by using UE4 and advanced motion capture technology mixed China traditional music and dance to create a musical and visual feast!

From a Mythology to your Dreamland

Once upon a time, there is a fantastic land named NINE Land. During the reign of Kingdom YAO, a disaster called “JING” eroded the whole land. Kingdom YAO hold the huge sacrificial ceremony and pray to the god “why suffering such disaster”. However, it failed, the North & South Stars disappeared, with a rumors of cutting off the Fate Line, the land has got into panic and the balance between countries smashed. But there is a tiny sparking in the dark, far beyond these chaos, a youth just start his journey….

The Visual Feast from Unreal Engine4
Unreal Engine4 as most powerful 3D engine naturally has used in the game. UE4 has the most advanced character bone animation system and physical collision engine, which bring the much more real RPG experience. A visual feast starts with delicate 3D modeling and rendering, latest DX special effect, large scene depth regulation, motion blur, advanced anti-aliasing, particle renderer, dynamic light cover, tessellation and other series of innovative technology.

b]Key Feature[/b]

We created an original battle mode: beside the typical fighting skill in regular RPG game, the weakness connection system, spirt's pledge system, assistance system and strategy movement will be the very important elements in a battle. when users know these strategy better, get down a strong BOSS could be faster.

Strategy Movement
In traditional turn base battle, user always be kncoked down by a boss in a lower hp or unable to attack in priority while standing behind. Therefore, the strategy movement can settle this problem down.

Friends Assistance
We has broken the rules of turn base battle, because the Friends Assistance system make it even better. In one battle, a user could use 3 main roles and choose another role help in battle, even NPCs are available.

Battle Enchanted Combo
This key feature includes four parts: weakness time, double hit, two system skill and spirt's assistance.

If you want to see the store page (this will likely not work if you're logged on Steam in your browser): http://store.steampowered.com/app/724970/_Faith_of_Danschant/?cc=tw

This released in its relevant regions.

Troubleshooter, nuXom-like turn-based tactical RPG from Korean developer, just released on Early Access:

story.png

Troubleshooter is a turn-based RPG with the story of Albus and the events happening around him. The story begins with Albus becoming an official Troubleshooter who then returns to his hometown to begin his journey as he meets new friends and colleagues on the way.

objective.png

The story of Albus will be updated with at least 1 scenario stage every week.

You will experience different events and meet different people and make it through the missions by playing as Albus and controlling his colleagues.

The characters appearing in the missions will have different decisions to make, and this will affect the relationships of the characters within the game to provide a slightly different story depending on the decisions.

relationships.png

The current version contains 6 scenario stages.

There are colleagues who accompanies Albus through the game. You will be able to meet different characters as you play his story. You might meet them during missions and become friends or you can recruit them to make them an official member of the company.

Users may recruit different characters and choose different combinations for each mission to suit their style of play.

The current version allows you to recruit Sion as your first colleague.

Looks like it's always online single player game.

Square Enix Has Finished the Score for Project Octopath Traveler

Now it’s time to finish the project’s name

Square Enix has shown the Nintendo 3DS plenty of strong support with fantastic original titles like Bravely Default and its sequel. Though it’s still working on similar support for the Nintendo Switch, the company has promised that there’s lots to look forward to for its fans. One such thing we have to look forward to is Project Octopath Traveler, a beautiful, untitled RPG that we received a demo for on the eShop some weeks back.

Though it’s still probably going to be quite a while before the completed game is available, Square Enix recently announced that it has finished the recording process of the game’s soundtrack, which sounds like it’ll be a fast-paced, symphonic ride. Here’s the video that was posted sharing some snippets of the music:

Edit: For those interested, there's a nice chunk of the OST available from the Demo. For what it's worth, the artwork is wonderful so far.

Dragon Fang Z, Mystery Dungeon-like where you can gain monsters' abilities. It was released on Switch last month:

ss_35946124225172171c2a85244f786a9887e501a9.600x338.jpg

Rose is half human and half dragon. One day, she wanders into a world called "Tree of time" with her nanny, Fairy.

It is said that there’s a powerful treasure deep under the dungeon. In order to return back to their village through the power of the treasure, they decided to face the challenges of the dungeon!

If Rose is defeated during the adventure, she will lose all items and her level will be reset. And because the dungeon transforms every time you challenge it, the quests will never be the same. Your courage and growth will be the key to clear the dungeon!

Features:

One choice, one victory: This game is turn-based. Both Rose and the enemies take turns moving. Players can think about what to do on their next turn. Wisdom and courage will bring you “small victories”, and these will eventually bring you “huge victories”.

The "Fang" system: Rose can wear Fangs of monsters and gain their abilities. There are more than 200 kinds of monsters. You can seek the strongest combination and arrange your Fangs however you like.

The "Brave" system: Rose powers up when there are no obstacles around you within 8 squares. This overturns the “battling within the passage” theory of the Roguelike game

This game also has the Ranking function, Item Warehouse, Monster's Database, Achievement, Mini Puzzle, and Dungeon for Advanced Players.

Artifact Adventure (Codex thread), an indie JRPG focused on C&C, is getting a spin-off. It is named literally Artifact Adventure Gaiden. It uses Game Boy aesthetics and combat is now side-scrolling action:

Out now.

Apparently the developer put Artifact Adventure 2 (with turn-based combat unlike this spin-off) on hold last year, and started working on a new open world, party-based RPG code-named Project Circle:

Wow, this and the first Artifact Adventure actually look pretty great.
Its main appeal is the high amount of little choices and branching paths to explore. They are served in an open-world with (simplistic) party creation, some freedom regarding party developpement and quick turn-based combat. Great it's not but I enjoyed my playthrough. It's also pretty cheap, especially when discounted ; you can get it directly on playism in case you prefer a DRM-free version and/or want to support Playism.

It seems that if you buy the game on Playism you only get a Steam key (the game is not tagged DRM-free). :( I wish more shops pushed the DRM-free agenda.

Zwei 1 will be released on January 24th:

What's up with all the Japanese game PC announcements today?

Japan finally figuring out that steam gets so many tens of million browsers a day? I mean doesn't it usually peak at about 15.8 million simultaneous users? Plus JRPGs(minus rpgmaker crap) are probably the one category of games on steam that isn't completely over saturated yet got to strike while the iron is hot.
