Mission VI : Fury Of The Swarm

20171111131617_1quspq.jpg

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

My Queen, our scouts have just discovered a massive wave of Zerg in high orbit.
Hundreds of Zerg have landed upon Tarsonis and are even now approaching our location!
A number of our outposts are already under attack by the renegade Swarm!

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

So, the UED is testing out their control of their pet Overmind.
I had hoped to lay low after we razed Korhal, but it seems the UED is intent on forcing my hand.

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

Shall I rally your forces, my Queen?

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Yes. We've got to defend our remaining outposts and make sure that the renegades can't gain a foothold in our immediate vicinity.
Once we've secured our perimeter, we'll begin to take the fight to their hive clusters.

Objectives :
- Destroy the renegade zerg

20171111152147_140s6o.jpg

The mission start with a quick attack on four Hatcheries that you can see on the map. The only one that will remain after that is the central one. There is no sense to try and save them, since the Zerg forces are too big to even consider a counterattack. Sadly we need to let them be destroyed.

On the positive side the mission objectives quickly changes after that. I don't need to deal with broods directly. Instead it's a much easier task - kill all UED scientists. And we already see the whole base and it's location. I will be using Mutalisks / Guardians / Scourge, as it's the fastest way to finish the objective, which is less demanding than killing Zerg forces.

20171111152542_1yssno.jpg

20171111152939_1ursub.jpg

The most annoying are the Guardians attacks occurring from time to time. It's good to provoke them in the beginning with Hydralisks close to them. Later on, a couple of Mutalisks or Scourge will make them disappear quickly.

20171111153152_1v4s5h.jpg

It's good to keep at least 12 Hydralisks in south and north that will help Sunken / Creep Colonies with the ongoing attacks. They are really frequent, and while I'll be really busy with navigating through Terran's base, I want to be sure that nothing happens to my only base before I reach the goal of this mission.

20171111153400_1nvspd.jpg

Hmm, too much Overlord raids on this spot. I've got a proper way to fix it.

20171111153443_1ilsua.jpg

20171111153651_1p3sdg.jpg

Now the base is being way safer. I can start my little invasion...

20171111153712_13cspq.jpg

But first I checked the first location, where my other base was located. Well, it turns out that there is a lot of Hydralisks burrowed there, so I quickly change my mind and just concentrate on the objective.

My little Guardians are preparing the starting point for the Mutalisks. As you can see, the scientists are just wondering near the building, and there is no need in destroying a specific structures to find them. It makes the task even easier. While the 30 numbers seems to be big, they are mostly in small groups. I need to look out on the Turrets, Bunkers and Wraiths for the most of the time.

20171111155719_1uyqwk.jpg

While they are some units, that could be influenced, I have more than enough power to move through the whole base without problems.

Mission VII : Drawing Of The Web

20171111161921_1lyr0m.jpg

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Cerebrate, it's time we returned to Shakuras.
I have some unfinished business with the Dark Templar Matriarch, Raszagal.
I'll need to steal her from her tribe before we can finally assault the Overmind on Char.
However, her defenders will not simply allow us to take her away.

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

The pylon clusters are generating some sort of electromagnetic field that is preventing our flyers from maneuvering.
We won't have any air support at all.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Then we'll need some new strategy...

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

Perhaps it would be best if we staged some kind of diversion, my Queen, and claimed the Matriarch during the confusion.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

What did you have in mind, Duran?

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

The Protoss outpost of Talematros is built upon a large mesa and is essentially impregnable to ground attacks.
However, Talematros is fueled and supported by a number of adjacent pylon clusters.
I believe that if we can cause a surge within those pylon clusters, we can cause Talematros' power grids to overload.
The resulting explosion will be the perfect cover for retrieving the Matriarch.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Clean, simple, devious. I like it. Make it happen Duran.
Cerebrate, you'll provide cover for Duran as he infiltrates the pylon clusters. Let nothing stand in our way!

Objectives :
- Bring Duran to each zerg beacon
- Duran must survive

20171112112319_1zaqct.jpg

While the previous mission was easy, "Drawing Of The Web" is the complete opposite. It's one of the most difficult scenarios in the campaign. Protoss forces have all the buildings already built, and as you can see it clearly, he has a huge advantage when it comes to ground coverage. What is really horrifying, is that there is no way we can build air units, or upgrade Overlords to transport ground forces. The most important factor here is time and a proper first phase, where we need to make an attack on a specific place.

After a quick start I move one of the workers to make another Hatchery in the south. I need to gather quickly resources and upgrade them as well.

20171112113306_192pwt.jpg

20171112113619_1njogk.jpg

Oops, a little mistake here. Luckilly I was moving my Hydralisks here and corrected the error afterwards. The beginning is forgiving, when it comes to the numbers of enemy troops. But it quickly changes, and the Protoss is showing his true strenght and can really obliterate base if we aren't careful.

20171112113756_1b1pzs.jpg

20171112114541_15zri1.jpg

The main base is like a fortress full of Sunken and Spore Colonies. I need to look out for Reavers later on to not destroy them.

20171112114942_1vxpzp.jpg

20171112115044_159q5v.jpg

I make another Hatchery in the north. All three bases are operating with 12 + 4 workers gathering resources.

20171112115216_1l1o1l.jpg

20171112115305_1horbv.jpg

The western parts, where the enemy is pushing us back are mostly attacked by Dragoons / Zealots / Dark Templars but sometime he adds new unit to them. The most devastating can be High Templar if we are making a counterattack near our creep colonies.

20171112122031_1pmqpc.jpg

It's good to keep Duran occupied in the northern spot. This is where the Reavers like to appear for the most of the time. Keeping some Lurkers is a must too.

20171112122152_1puo83.jpg

All right, it's time to make a deciding attack on our own, which will decide of a win / failure scenario.

20171112122154_2d3rkt.jpg

20171112122155_1qqryl.jpg

20171112122559_1ykpqb.jpg

This base, fu.... In the beginning it won't be noticeable but later on the reinforcements from here choke our own forces and it's basically a war of attrition which we can't win for the obvious reason.

20171112122715_188qt9.jpg

:positive:

Excellent. I have secured the place and can build another Hatchery. It's time to prepare for phase two and start moving to the beacons with Duran.

20171112123322_1vjq8y.jpg

20171112123724_1iyono.jpg

The first time is always the most hard one. Each beacon is heavily guarded, and even if we destroy some troops using for example the Queen, they are quickly being replaced by new one. What's more troubling is the retaliation after each attack. As I mentioned before, Protoss is not messing around and I need to be quick and need to move to next location.

:mixedemotions:

I hate Reavers, especially when there is more than 2 of them. The best way is to just use cloak power that Duran has and move on to the other beacons.

20171112124917_1xfoy2.jpg

20171112125026_16grzt.jpg

Eastern beacons are secured. Now it's the time to build another base, which will be the last one.

20171112125054_1p1rvk.jpg

20171112125705_1jnoxy.jpg

Since I'm very close to the beacon on the right, it will be my next mini-objective.

20171112130419_1boqcs.jpg

There is something I didn't mentioned before yet. In this mission there are dozens of Dark Archons, which really like to use wolololo on our Overlords. I usually used at least 4 of them during the raids, to avoid any problems.

Very nice, only two beacons left.

20171112131700_1ocpkz.jpg

My little Zergling scouted some area near the beacon. The resistance is minimal.

20171112131746_1oupqy.jpg

Since I already picked up everything, I just use the workers to make the northern wall of Colonies that will be a great defense against Carriers and Shuttles dropping units.

20171112131750_141pf4.jpg

The southern perimeter is prepared as well.

Mission VIII : To Slay The Beast

20171112132521_177pvz.jpg

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

The time is finally upon us, my minions, to destroy the wretched Overmind and the last of its Renegade Cerebrates.
We can count on the UED providing us with heavy resistance, but not even they can stand in our way.
Now that the Matriarch, Raszagal is in my custody, I possess the means to attack the Overmind with impunity.

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

But my Queen, I thought only the Dark Templar's energies could harm the Overmind and its Cerebrates.
Even with the numerous Broods at your command, any attack we launch against the Renegades will be in vain.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Not so, Duran. As a matter of fact, I'm expecting my secret weapon to be arriving very soon.

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

As you say, my Queen. But I still don't understand wh-
We are receiving a transmission from an unidentified Protoss Carrier...

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

That's what I love about the Protoss... They're so punctual.

zeratul-starcraft-23.n1qq7.jpg
:

Kerrigan, this is Zeratul. I demand to know why you've taken our Matriarch.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Actually, Zeratul, she's not the one I'm truly interested in.
I stole her to get to you. You see, I need you and your brethren to kill the Overmind for me.
The only way I had of assuring your cooperation was to take away that which you value most.
However, I give you my word that once you've killed the Overmind, I'll allow her to return to you.

zeratul-starcraft-23.n1qq7.jpg
:

As if your word held any value...

raszagal-starcraft-brveo9b.jpg
:

Zeratul, my faithful servant.
You must aid Kerrigan in this endeavor. The Overmind is our common enemy.
It must be destroyed to insure that our people will survive!

zeratul-starcraft-23.n1qq7.jpg
:

You ask me to aid this vile creature?

raszagal-starcraft-brveo9b.jpg
:

I do not ask this for myself. Nor do I ask it on Kerrigan's behalf.
I ask you to do this for our people, Zeratul. Obey me as you always have... Trust in my judgement.

zeratul-starcraft-23.n1qq7.jpg
:

Very well, Matriarch. The Overmind will die this day.

Objectives :
- Destroy the Overmind with Dark Templar
- Must be able to have Dark Templar

20171112135725_1fwqzh.jpg

After the last mission we have another contender for the most hard one in the whole expansion. This time we start with a Zerg and Protoss structures. As you can see I can only make Dark Templars. It may seem that their available numbers are small, but they will be a great help and operate as a living choke points in the base entries. They are great for dealing with lonely Tanks as well. We are forced to fight with UED and Zerg broods which are controlled by them. It's another scenario which demands from the player maximum efficiency and fast building / attacking to have any chance against the massive resistance which we are facing.

My Zerglings quickly scout the area, and they find on the hill at the west another great spot to make a Hatchery.

20171112140135_1gtqjm.jpg

I won't need big defense here, but some Spore/Sunken Colonies are of course mandatory.

20171112141022_1cuokk.jpg

I'm building my counterstrike forces. At the beginning the northern perimeter is being constantly rendered by enemy, and I need to prepare for them since they are growing in numbers.

20171112141131_1yto55.jpg

Hmm, I know what will be the perfect addition to this Sunken wall.

20171112141910_16hrxz.jpg

Much better! It's good to keep other ground units nearby and intervene when we see Tanks or Wraiths. I'm preparing to make another quick move on the north from here. There is a little Terran base here which I shall destroy.

20171112143126_1k4rlq.jpg

20171112143825_161pkq.jpg

Everything is going smooth for now.

20171112144027_131pgb.jpg

20171112144820_16sr33.jpg

20171112144927_1p2qjx.jpg

One great thing about this mission, is that you can use Queens and their parasite ability to have a cheap spying devices, in this case Overlords and Dropships. Overlords are superior since they also see invisible / underground units. And since they are used for raiding my positions I will scout their bases with no losses. Best deal!

20171112145310_12qopd.jpg

Man, the structures and units are just bursting at this base. It won't be easy to beat such numbers, that's for sure.

20171112145542_1e9o1k.jpg

I keep some of the Hydralisks at the second base near the cliff. I can't make any more creep colonies, because of the terrain. You can see on the map the Orange brood. This is my next target, since it's easily reachable by ground unlike the White Zerg and Terran.

20171112155308_188pbj.jpg

Yeah, time to bring some pain.

20171112155321_1dfpdl.jpg

20171112155451_1vkohe.jpg

20171112155557_1h7ovg.jpg

It is done. Another base coming up!

20171112155935_1dyr7d.jpg

It started. The orange zerg is sending Mutalisks / Guardians / Devourers in big packs. Making Spore Colonies at the edges of the base plus Hydralisks / Scourge is mandatory. Also the Defilers are great, if we can foresee the aerial attack. Using Plague on big groups make them way easier to defeat. I kept at least 4 of them in different spots to help normal units.

20171112160033_1jmpid.jpg

The Terran tries to attack my Devourers. I keep them here as the bait for Valkyrie's which are easily provoked.

20171112160613_17qp9r.jpg

20171112160656_187oas.jpg

As if the Zerg weren't enough, I need to add Battlecruisers to my list.

20171112160714_1alqfw.jpg

:smug:

20171112160734_1f6oca.jpg

This is the phase, when the aerial attacks are very frequent, it's almost non stop fight. Usually when it stops the enemy changes the strategy and puts troops on the ground via Overlords / Dropships.

20171112160754_1tsph6.jpg

20171112161427_1dqog5.jpg

Nice, my base is packed up with ground units, and I have some cash reserve as well. But I need to find another Vespene Gas geyser, some minerals wouldn't hurt as well. Almost after every attack I need to build some Hydralisks to keep me going.

20171112161429_1aoo7p.jpg

20171112161758_14hoen.jpg

My little Zerglings quickly found a perfect place for me. Another Hatchery coming up.

20171112161829_17tq2w.jpg

:negative:

Fuck. But I still have some Queens which helped me quickly to get rid of the problem.

20171112162602_15vp73.jpg

20171112164025_1wjoem.jpg

My mini-base is ready and operational. The remaining enemy forces are huge when you look at the map. I have almost depleted the opportunities for making any new Hatcheries. Hmm, I wonder what is in the south east from here...

20171112164143_1orojx.jpg

20171112164616_1iupar.jpg

The attacks continue, but it's finally time to wrap up something and deal with the base on the north.

Oops, looks like a little welcoming committee. I need to bring something more than single Overlord here.

You will be avenged.

20171112171410_1l3qrx.jpg

:salute:

20171112171727_1yeofe.jpg

20171112172356_1yup9e.jpg

After that I move part of my regular hydralisks along with flotilla to deal with the enemy.

20171112172416_1blq6d.jpg

Using Defilers is a quick way to shut down the production of troops.

20171112172503_19roo9.jpg

20171112172552_1eoo7f.jpg

Mmm, I like what I see here. Total devastation, and I will have easier time navigating.

20171112172609_1tdpkv.jpg

Damn, talking about having a big advantage. This Geyser has 11k left, but I will leave it. My last Hatchery will be situated in south east as I previously intended. That place has mineral....

20171112172901_1wiopo.jpg

:what:

Zergs are mad with power. He attacks like a rabid dog without any hesitation. Those gigantic raids are just keep occuring. Absolute madness.

20171112173657_1onoqm.jpg

Finally, after some time and quick breath I move part of my forces to the SE. A perfect place to fill the gaps, after I start the attack on the orange brood.

20171112175349_13mr2x.jpg

20171112175430_15yowd.jpg

I observe both bases to plan my attack. Nuking it from orbit would be the safest approach, but since I don't have such option, Guardians for Sunken Colonies / Bunkers will need to suffice. I need to bring some Overlords as well. No doubt there is here more than meets the eye.

20171112175434_13kr21.jpg

20171112175600_1o0rc1.jpg

Oh shit, looks like orange Zergoterran is preparing to move into my last base. Total War !

20171112180603_11zp79.jpg

I lost part of my Hydralisks squads, the flotilla of Guardians have engaged with remaining forces. Meanwhile the fucking white Terran moved as well. I have a surprise for him though.

20171112180753_1l6rpp.jpg

20171112180823_1a7omn.jpg

I was too busy to keep managing the units in this phase. It was a very good move to replace killed Hydralisks and Ultralisks with a pack of Guardians in a quick swing. Right now the enemy is scattered and trying to postpone the inevitable by making new units. But I've got him by the balls, and he can say goodbye to his all structures.

20171112181151_1i0oh6.jpg

Now that was a very satisfying outcome of the huge battle. I kept some Devourers as well, because of the Valkyries at the beginning. Now it's time to finish the last Terran. I will do it with maximum cruelty and efficiency.

20171112181442_1jvqd8.jpg

:yeah:

20171112181609_1jqq0t.jpg

20171112181646_1oer1j.jpg

20171112181723_1weq4n.jpg

20171112181758_1afq1r.jpg

It is done. Now I need to kill the Overmind with my Dark Templars.

20171112181812_1ikqgs.jpg

After that we have another "cutscene"

We have trolled Zeratul, and right now I have all the aces in our sleeve. What will he do after that, only time will tell. I need to laid down for a minute.

Mission IX : The Reckoning

20171112182030_1cfsvv.jpg

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

My Queen, with the Overmind and its cerebrates destroyed, all of the Zerg in this sector have reverted to your direct control.
The remnants of the UED fleet have fled the planet, but I have no idea how many functional ships they still possess.

We have finished relocating your primary hive clusters to this orbital platform.
However, we do have a problem. Somehow, Zeratul and his brethren were able to bypass our defenses and steal their Matriarch away from us.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Damn Zeratul! He is a formidable adversary.
Where have they run to, Duran?

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

Our scouts report that they have regrouped with a number of Protoss survivors on the surface of Char.
The Matriarch is being held within a stasis cell, leading me to suspect that the Protoss will attempt to take her home to Shakuras.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Heh. They still believe that she can be saved from my influence...
Zeratul will be very dissapointed to learn that Raszagal is beyond redemption.
How much time before their fleet is ready to debark for Shakuras?

duran9rqkt.jpg
:

They will be capable of dimensional recall within thirty minutes, my Queen.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

That may be all the time we need.
Cerebrate, mobilize all of my broods and send them to the surface of Char.
I want you to bring both the Matriarch and Zeratul to me alive. Terminate the remaining Protoss with extreme prejudice.

Objectives :
- Destroy the Protoss base within 30 minutes
- Recover the Matriarch and Zeratul

20171114183119_1yns9s.jpg

After playing the time consuming earlier missions, "The Reckoning" is a perfect break from them. I have only 30 minutes to destroy the Protoss base.
What I need to do:
- Overlord transportation upgrade
- Nydus Canals
- Lots of workers to harvest resources as fast as possible

There is a Terran up in the north, but compared to the earlier scenarios, he isn't dangerous. Some Zerglings and Sunken Colonies suffice. The most important factor is of course time. While I prepare my attack squads, I move the Guardians to clean the hill from the Photon Cannons.

20171114183436_102sn3.jpg

20171114183948_1rksps.jpg

I make another Hatchery on the island, where the Protoss is preparing for evacuation. This way I will make more Hydralisks in a shorter time, and I will add Nydus Canal to move the rest from my main base. It's good to use most of the available units from the beginning as well.

20171114184544_1v5so1.jpg

All right. Attacking the Pylon with Guardians would be unwise, since the Protoss would send into my position some High Templars and Dragoons.

20171114184608_130s3l.jpg

Meanwhile the Terran reminds me, that he still breaths.

20171114184708_1c1s91.jpg

Time to gather my minions.

20171114184830_11lsek.jpg

Ah, perfect. With some upgrades I shouldn't have big problems with the onslaught of the Protoss. Damn, I have only 16 minutes left! I will loose many units since the Protoss is always tough to beat during the initial strike. Of course I use the Guardians as well, who helped with eradicating Photon Cannons and High Templars which engaged my Hydralisks.

We start the bonus mission with Zeratul, two Dragoons and four Dark Archons. They will be a great help, since they have Mind Control ability. I will be using them to convert Terran units to my side and with their help reach the goals of this scenario.

20171114190215_1b8s4v.jpg

Zeratul is invisible, and the enemy isn't using Comcast station so I use this to my advantage.

20171114190244_1jlsbi.jpg

First converted unit, Science Vessel. He will be helping with scouting and detecting any trouble way better than what I came with.

20171114190329_1jvslr.jpg

20171114190402_177s8w.jpg

Another addition, a single Tank on the hill which would destroy my Dragoons and Archons. Sadly, the Science Vessel was blinded.

20171114190432_1dbsmg.jpg

I point target with Zeratul.

20171114190537_1mksah.jpg

Aha, now that is a glorious moment. My first Battlecruiser which will help tremendously in attacking the enemy troops. But wait, Zeratul find in the north a stasis cell.

Meanwhile my Archon converted SCV, and I gain some resources as well thanks to him. This will help me to repair the Tank and Battlecruiser.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Cerebrate, our scouts have just identified three separate fleets approaching this platform.
With Duran having dissapeared, and the bulk of my broods still on the surface of Char, you'll need to hold off the invaders by yourself.

arcturus-mengsk-starc0trx9.jpg
:

You sound worried, Kerrigan. Have I caught you at a bad time?

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Not at all, Arcturus. How'd you manage to scrape up your new fleet? Been raiding the salvage dump again?

arcturus-mengsk-starc0trx9.jpg
:

I called in a few favors. Made a few concessions. You'd be surprised to see how many special interest groups in this sector want to see you dead.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

I'm sorry to have to dissapoint your new friends, Arcturus. But you really shouldn't have attempted this stunt.
It'll take more than your three little fleets to bring me down.

arcturus-mengsk-starc0trx9.jpg
:

Three fleets?

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Don't play dumb, Arcturus. I've already spotted the other two fleets.

artanis5vocu.jpg
:

Kerrigan, this is Artanis. My brethren and I have come to avenge the deaths of Fenix, the Matriarch, and all of the other Protoss who fell before the Swarm!
It is long past time you paid for your crimes against our people.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

When it rains, it pours...

arcturus-mengsk-starc0trx9.jpg
:

Hah ha ha... The Protoss, too! Care to take a guess as to who the third fleet is?

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

No need to guess. It's DuGalle and the remainder of the UED fleet.

admiral-gerard-dugallzgyec.jpg
:

That is correct, Kerrigan. This is Admiral DuGalle.
I am giving you one last chance to surrender your forces, and submit to the sovereign authority of the United Earth Directorate.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

Gee, that's a tough one, Admiral.
You'll have let me think for a minute... You know, Admiral, I think I'll just massacre your remaining troops now and watch you die in agony.
How would that be?

admiral-gerard-dugallzgyec.jpg
:

You vastly underestimate me, my dear.

i25k073zre95140875929kguvs.jpg
:

I don't think so, Admiral. You see, at this point... I'm pretty much the Queen Bitch of the Universe.
And not all of your little soldiers or space ships will stand in my way again.

admiral-gerard-dugallzgyec.jpg
:

So be it.

Objectives :
- Destroy all enemy bases

20171114193642_1yas2d.jpg

All right, the last mission. We start in a really tough position, in the center of the map. As we already know, there are three fleets. This means three directions from where the attack will be occurring. Time is of the essence in the beginning, and if I not prepare for upcoming first strikes I already can say goodbye to my brood.

20171114194755_1tms4z.jpg

Making lots of Sunken and Spore Colonies is essential to support the Hydralisks, which will be the main unit for a long period of time. Making some additional Lurkers from them is also a good idea, especially for the Protoss.

20171114195149_1z9sqc.jpg

20171114195656_1nts7n.jpg

One really good strategy, is to keep Hydralisks buried. This way I have an element of surprise, and at this path, I won't have them slaughtered by Tanks. This is the favorite path of Mengsk's forces. Later on he will add nuclear attacks.

20171114200022_159snb.jpg

Making additional Hatcheries is a must as well. Our units will die in the beginning when they aren't upgraded to the maximum. And it's also good to be able to quickly react if we need to make a full squad.

20171114200025_1s2soc.jpg

20171114200027_1wns9g.jpg

This northern spot is being attacked mainly by the UED ground forces - Marines, Firebats, Goliaths. They keep coming in a big waves, so keeping the entry they way you see it is great strategy. While they will try to maneuver through, I pop my Hydralisks from the ground and block their path. Sunken Colonies will start killing them and we don't have be afraid of a forceful entry. Unfortunately later on there will be added to this equation Battlecruisers, which makes it more difficult. Devourers and Scourge are best for them to keep our Spore Colonies alive..

20171114200029_1z3smy.jpg

The third spot, which will be "liked" by the Protoss. I make Spore Colonies on the right, to keep Shuttles from dropping Reavers and other units directly. The rest is up to Sunken Colonies.

20171114200933_12lsv2.jpg

20171114200953_1jis3g.jpg

Speaking of the devil... It starts!

20171114201052_1j8sjm.jpg

At least 12 Hydralisks at each entry will make your live easier. I will add two Defilers at each place as well. They can really change the tide of battle in a quick time manner. Especially with the Protoss, who can't heal his troops. But while I'm writing this, I almost finished digging through the minerals and I need a new fresh Vespene Gas geyser as well. Time to take my little Guardian pets for a flight.

20171115172252_11csaq.jpg

Lucky me. There are only some Bunkers and Turrets here. On east from here there is a perfect spot for another Hatchery.

20171115180411_116s35.jpg

That's better. But I'm in a really crucial moment here. I need to carefully move my forces to the north via Overlords raids and help them with Guardians / Devourers. Time to face DuGalle forces.

20171115182258_1u3sdf.jpg

20171115182310_17fsu1.jpg

20171115182359_13dsf7.jpg

The base is really huge. While there are many Valkyries they can be killed quickly by Hydralisks. I just kept my flotilla nearby to provoke them to attack.

20171115182533_10zs68.jpg

20171115182850_127s77.jpg

I move some of the Zerglings to scout the area and find any other UED structures.

20171115182942_1b9s62.jpg

20171115183020_17vs0z.jpg

All right, it seems to be everything that was nearby. Still there is a lot of terrain that I didn't have scouted. DuGalle is crippled right now so he can't do me much harm.

20171115183112_1mzss0.jpg

20171115183609_1g6s3u.jpg

Aha! Another perfect place to make a Hatchery. It will be closer to the mother base, and the gigantic mechanic things will block the enemy troops.

20171115183922_14bs7j.jpg

20171115184034_1w6s4t.jpg

Haha, I was moving some of the Hydralisks and the UED forces were politely moving with them without attacking. Time to scout more area.

20171115184154_1ies9c.jpg

Nice, there is no big resistance at the moment so I can destroy this mini-base quickly.

20171115184310_1nhsl7.jpg

Meanwhile Ghosts are keeping me occupied. That platform makes my life harder, since they can be dropped and laser lock my Spore Colony at the edge for nuking. I usually move some Mutalisks / Guardians or Queen and use spawning broodlings to get rid of them if necessary.

20171115184552_178shq.jpg

Speaking of Queens, I use one to infect one Command Center just to have some suicide bombers that I can use later on if needed.

20171115184619_17yswr.jpg

20171115184810_1r1sjy.jpg

The Zerglings finished the job with the base, and they have found another good place for a Hatchery. Nice. It's strange though, that I haven't received any message from DuGalle after destroying that second base. Oh well...

20171115184829_1nfsl9.jpg

The Protoss stopped attacking my main base and right now he loves this one. I don't know why, but overall it's good since my main base is being left untouched by him.

20171115185002_1y3ss3.jpg

Speaking of untouched, that what happens after Tanks are raiding your base. Time to fill those destroyed colonies.

20171115185420_10fsor.jpg

Protoss fleet is going rabid as well through this air corridor. I add some Spore Colonies.

20171115185755_1rwse3.jpg

Oh really? Popping out with full squad and killing Ghosts like that is very satisfying.

20171115185945_1qms39.jpg

It's time to pump up the numbers of troops and move onto the next target, which will be Mengsk. The only sane option for him, is to attack with 12 x Guardians , 12 x Devourers and a couple of Overlords for detection. Why? Because there is so many Bunkers and Tanks that it would be a suicide attacking with the ground units.

20171115190052_1tusd3.jpg

Artanis seems to be the most flexible, when it comes to choosing the way of the attack. But he came up at the wrong moment, when I've prepared the whole batch of new Guardians.

20171115190604_180stc.jpg

It's time to fight with Mengsk.

20171115191449_1ihs0h.jpg

20171115191544_1vxs08.jpg

While I'm crushing his forces, Protoss has shown up as well.

20171115191618_1scsh2.jpg

20171115191621_1dcs18.jpg

20171115191629_1vxss6.jpg

20171115191939_1p0s57.jpg

All right, I can continue my task.

20171115192209_1eosse.jpg

Again! I move some of the Scourge quickly.

20171115192252_16ns2e.jpg

:hero:

Hmm, so I did omit some DuGalle buildings after all. I need to scout the are more carefully.

20171115192455_1kus42.jpg

Hah, that SCV has balls of steel. I've made another Hatchery here to keep the resources flowing.

20171115192851_1uhsp9.jpg

Now Artanis has divided his attacks to different bases.

20171115193105_1nksl3.jpg

I make the last Hatchery here and fill it with Spore / Sunken Colonies. There is still a huge mineral field on the east.

20171115193616_1dasu6.jpg

:whatho:

Holy shit, UED had started building new base from the ground. That does it, time to finish him off for good.

I've reached the conclusion of the Brood War. While I'm not a big fan of RTS genre, Starcraft still shines thanks to the great gameplay. Although during some missions I was frustrated as hell, when the battle wasn't going as I've planned, and the pathfinding made me raging it was still a blast. I don't know, if I would play it 7 times for the story, but it still was worth it thanks to the huge battles at the end of each campaign. Now I'm really curious, how the plot went after that, as I didn't have opportunity to play the sequel. For now, I'll keep SC on my HD for some random skirmishes.

Thanks for all the support from my little audience :M

And to zerotol as well, who made this LP being brought to life.

Thanks for the refresher! Now I'm ready to play Starcraft 2's campaign, and see how it does compare. I wouldn't call it the original Starcraft "retardo-olympics" level, but some situations are indeed forced and the story doesn't look that great nowadays. Of course, since RTS games are virtually dead, there aren't that many examples nowadays.
