:
Cerebrate, our scouts have just identified three separate fleets approaching this platform.
With Duran having dissapeared, and the bulk of my broods still on the surface of Char, you'll need to hold off the invaders by yourself.
:
You sound worried, Kerrigan. Have I caught you at a bad time?
:
Not at all, Arcturus. How'd you manage to scrape up your new fleet? Been raiding the salvage dump again?
:
I called in a few favors. Made a few concessions. You'd be surprised to see how many special interest groups in this sector want to see you dead.
:
I'm sorry to have to dissapoint your new friends, Arcturus. But you really shouldn't have attempted this stunt.
It'll take more than your three little fleets to bring me down.
:
Three fleets?
:
Don't play dumb, Arcturus. I've already spotted the other two fleets.
:
Kerrigan, this is Artanis. My brethren and I have come to avenge the deaths of Fenix, the Matriarch, and all of the other Protoss who fell before the Swarm!
It is long past time you paid for your crimes against our people.
:
When it rains, it pours...
:
Hah ha ha... The Protoss, too! Care to take a guess as to who the third fleet is?
:
No need to guess. It's DuGalle and the remainder of the UED fleet.
:
That is correct, Kerrigan. This is Admiral DuGalle.
I am giving you one last chance to surrender your forces, and submit to the sovereign authority of the United Earth Directorate.
:
Gee, that's a tough one, Admiral.
You'll have let me think for a minute... You know, Admiral, I think I'll just massacre your remaining troops now and watch you die in agony.
How would that be?
:
You vastly underestimate me, my dear.
:
I don't think so, Admiral. You see, at this point... I'm pretty much the Queen Bitch of the Universe.
And not all of your little soldiers or space ships will stand in my way again.
:
So be it.
Objectives :
- Destroy all enemy bases
All right, the last mission. We start in a really tough position, in the center of the map. As we already know, there are three fleets. This means three directions from where the attack will be occurring. Time is of the essence in the beginning, and if I not prepare for upcoming first strikes I already can say goodbye to my brood.
Making lots of Sunken and Spore Colonies is essential to support the Hydralisks, which will be the main unit for a long period of time. Making some additional Lurkers from them is also a good idea, especially for the Protoss.
One really good strategy, is to keep Hydralisks buried. This way I have an element of surprise, and at this path, I won't have them slaughtered by Tanks. This is the favorite path of Mengsk's forces. Later on he will add nuclear attacks.
Making additional Hatcheries is a must as well. Our units will die in the beginning when they aren't upgraded to the maximum. And it's also good to be able to quickly react if we need to make a full squad.
This northern spot is being attacked mainly by the UED ground forces - Marines, Firebats, Goliaths. They keep coming in a big waves, so keeping the entry they way you see it is great strategy. While they will try to maneuver through, I pop my Hydralisks from the ground and block their path. Sunken Colonies will start killing them and we don't have be afraid of a forceful entry. Unfortunately later on there will be added to this equation Battlecruisers, which makes it more difficult. Devourers and Scourge are best for them to keep our Spore Colonies alive..
The third spot, which will be "liked" by the Protoss. I make Spore Colonies on the right, to keep Shuttles from dropping Reavers and other units directly. The rest is up to Sunken Colonies.
Speaking of the devil... It starts!
At least 12 Hydralisks at each entry will make your live easier. I will add two Defilers at each place as well. They can really change the tide of battle in a quick time manner. Especially with the Protoss, who can't heal his troops. But while I'm writing this, I almost finished digging through the minerals and I need a new fresh Vespene Gas geyser as well. Time to take my little Guardian pets for a flight.
Lucky me. There are only some Bunkers and Turrets here. On east from here there is a perfect spot for another Hatchery.
That's better. But I'm in a really crucial moment here. I need to carefully move my forces to the north via Overlords raids and help them with Guardians / Devourers. Time to face DuGalle forces.
The base is really huge. While there are many Valkyries they can be killed quickly by Hydralisks. I just kept my flotilla nearby to provoke them to attack.
I move some of the Zerglings to scout the area and find any other UED structures.
All right, it seems to be everything that was nearby. Still there is a lot of terrain that I didn't have scouted. DuGalle is crippled right now so he can't do me much harm.
Aha! Another perfect place to make a Hatchery. It will be closer to the mother base, and the gigantic mechanic things will block the enemy troops.
Haha, I was moving some of the Hydralisks and the UED forces were politely moving with them without attacking. Time to scout more area.
Nice, there is no big resistance at the moment so I can destroy this mini-base quickly.
Meanwhile Ghosts are keeping me occupied. That platform makes my life harder, since they can be dropped and laser lock my Spore Colony at the edge for nuking. I usually move some Mutalisks / Guardians or Queen and use spawning broodlings to get rid of them if necessary.
Speaking of Queens, I use one to infect one Command Center just to have some suicide bombers that I can use later on if needed.
The Zerglings finished the job with the base, and they have found another good place for a Hatchery. Nice. It's strange though, that I haven't received any message from DuGalle after destroying that second base. Oh well...
The Protoss stopped attacking my main base and right now he loves this one. I don't know why, but overall it's good since my main base is being left untouched by him.
Speaking of untouched, that what happens after Tanks are raiding your base. Time to fill those destroyed colonies.
Protoss fleet is going rabid as well through this air corridor. I add some Spore Colonies.
Oh really? Popping out with full squad and killing Ghosts like that is very satisfying.
It's time to pump up the numbers of troops and move onto the next target, which will be Mengsk. The only sane option for him, is to attack with 12 x Guardians , 12 x Devourers and a couple of Overlords for detection. Why? Because there is so many Bunkers and Tanks that it would be a suicide attacking with the ground units.
Artanis seems to be the most flexible, when it comes to choosing the way of the attack. But he came up at the wrong moment, when I've prepared the whole batch of new Guardians.
It's time to fight with Mengsk.
While I'm crushing his forces, Protoss has shown up as well.
All right, I can continue my task.
Again! I move some of the Scourge quickly.
Hmm, so I did omit some DuGalle buildings after all. I need to scout the are more carefully.
Hah, that SCV has balls of steel. I've made another Hatchery here to keep the resources flowing.
Now Artanis has divided his attacks to different bases.
I make the last Hatchery here and fill it with Spore / Sunken Colonies. There is still a huge mineral field on the east.
Holy shit, UED had started building new base from the ground. That does it, time to finish him off for good.
Time to say goodbye DuGalle.
Now I can concentrate on Protoss.
Well, that was quick. I made a good entry point to the whole base. I'm unleashing on Artanis and hiss troops the wrath of the swarm.
As much as I want to hate DuGalle for his decision about Stukov killing, I felt sorry for him at the end. Still, UED made a whole lot of turmoil considering their numbers. R.I.P.
I've reached the conclusion of the Brood War. While I'm not a big fan of RTS genre, Starcraft still shines thanks to the great gameplay. Although during some missions I was frustrated as hell, when the battle wasn't going as I've planned, and the pathfinding made me raging it was still a blast. I don't know, if I would play it 7 times for the story, but it still was worth it thanks to the huge battles at the end of each campaign. Now I'm really curious, how the plot went after that, as I didn't have opportunity to play the sequel. For now, I'll keep SC on my HD for some random skirmishes.
Thanks for all the support from my little audience
And to
zerotol as well, who made this LP being brought to life.
