That said, if he didn’t sign an NDA because he hates these guys and wants to be able to stick the knife in, when is he going to finally spill the details? Today’s tweets are the most explicit we’ve gotten right? It must have been really bad if he’s still this pissed off.

Guy has a passive-agressive angle to him like you said.

I wouldnt be surprised if these Tweets come from him having things rough lately and resulting in a little blow up.

It's a shame that he apparently didn't have any work lined up when he left Obsidian (shows how keen he was to get out of there I guess), I was hoping he'd have headed up and released a whole game by now. but hey, it's not like he was putting his name to a lot of stuff in the two and a half years before he left Obsidian either.

He's had several offers to lead his own project since he left Obsidian, but didn't take them for personal reasons.

He also had offers to lead projects inside Obsidian.
The only known offer post-FNV DLCs was a PS:T spiritual sequel for Kickstarter. According to Feargus, MCA turned it down because he "didn't want to go on another death march".

PoE was Sawyer's all along, and Tyranny was conceived while MCA was already working on PoE.

Wasn't there an interview/book/whatever that said something along the line of "Avellone spearheaded Tyranny"?

I think there was an interview where he hinted they pretended he was behind Tyranny in some way when they were pitching it to Paradox, because they knew his name on a game gets people interested but for some reason they didn't want him to actually work on a game.

It was either Paradox marketing or one (some?) of the devs hyping up his contribution, but he didn't do much:

No, he revealed that the contract between Paradox and Obsidian included exaggerating his role:

Speaking from experience, there are times where I have been misquoted or my response ignored/not transcribed in previous interviews (including the Codex at PAX East), and I mostly have to shrug and let it go.

Uh, do tell. (mindx2 What have you done)

Well that's a question I'd like answered from Chris himself....

I still have the entire recording and transcribed everything that was said (except for the ums, huhs, repeated words, ect.). Perhaps I misheard something or didn't catch it with multiple people talking at once...?

My apologies, should have clarified - it was at the point where I believe the question was "so this [Tyranny] is your baby?/yours?" and while I replied, "no" (because it wasn't, and with good reason - in general, baby projects are dangerous to everyone, including the father), there may have been a gaggle of talking at that point, but I recall speaking even more after that about Brian Heins leading the project as director along with other elements, but I think that all got lost.

Unfortunately, I got lectured for the "no" part, largely because of its simplicity, and there was no record of anything else being said. Ironically, attempts to explain this weren't listened to either, but I doubt it would have mattered, so I wouldn't sweat it. It all worked out in the end.

I learned later on after my departure that part of the reason for the lecture was because of how the Tyranny contract was structured with Paradox, which no one ever informed me of, despite my name being used specifically and despite my actual role on the project, both of which were kind of weird (and arguably insulting to the developers on the title). Whatever.

Obsidian later tried to remove his name from the credits, but the contract prevented it.

How would something like this come to light before credits rolling/released game which has his name in its credits?

Estelle had BETTER be a character in a game he is writing, a reanimated rotting corpse who is obsessed with the player character and keeps trying to kill him so they can be together in death.

Once again Avellone manages to upstage Mitsoda and not even intentionally.
