Whenever I get a package of plain M&M's, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I make them have M&M duels.

Taking two candies between my forefinger and thumb, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the 'loser' and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner get to go to the next round.

I have found that, in general, brown and red M&Ms are tougher, while the blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense ring of competition and cracks under the pressure of being in the modern candy and snack food world.

Occasionally I will come across a mutation, a candy that is mishapen, pointier or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this seems to be a weakness but on very rare occassions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the candy continues to adapt in it's enviroment.

When I finish the package, I am left with one M&M. The strongest of the herd. Since it wouldn't make any sense to eat this one as well, I package it up with a letter that says "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes" and send it back to M&M Mars, A division of Mars INC in Hackettstown, NJ

They wrote back this week thanking me and gve me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of M&MS.

This weekend there will be a tournament of epic protortions.

There can only be one champion.

I dont understand, a couple of weeks ago Grimoire had sold over 4000 copies and now it is back to roughly 3000; does that mean the numbers were screwed up or were they down after 25% of its buyers refunded or what is going on? Honestly I thought it would have reached 5000 by now but that is kind of depressing... now that the game is stable to see such low numbers

Now, when you say between the forefinger and the thumb, do you hold them overhand or underhand? Also, wouldn't it be less bias if you pressed them together between the thumb of one hand and the thumb of another? Or, perhaps, between your palms? Maybe your wrists?

I'm assuming you use either the tip of your index finger or the outer ridge facing the thumb, both of which provide much different surface area, and, in return, a variance in pressure being applied. This results in a handicap for one of the combatants. I would almost bet that most of the champs have come from "under the thumb" in no small part due to the larger surface area in comparison to the contenders rather pointed handicap.

The best comparison I can make, is like being trapped between the hood of a lambourghini and the side of an escalade.

To hack the Pentagon you need to send both a GET and a POST request to "https://www.defense.gov/wp-admin", this will create a cross-origin request and it will confuse the website and make it stop looking at your TCP port. Because of this, the website will give you the login page instead of a 404 request. Now is the hard part, you will have to brute-force the fibonacci sequence in order to create a string full of binary bits, and this will be able to be converted into bytes. Next, you need to plug those bytes into the graphing function y = mx + b. Since you are hacking the Pentagon, you need to use the letter P. Because Russians are known for hacking, you need to use their alphabet. Р is the 18th letter in the Russian alphabet, Russia's population density is about 8, so (18/8)^2 % 8 is about 5. Now look back at your graph and look for the number at x = 5. Open Tor and type in the bytes you had, and ".onion" at the end. This will take you to a website that will give you a list of possible usernames. Copy the username that is in the place of the number you got from the graph. Go back to your web browser that has the login page open, type in that username you copied. Now convert your byte to a hexidecimal value and use that as the password. Congratulations, you have successfully hacked into the Pentagon.

I remember when it was about to release, I predicted that it would sell much lower than PoE and I thought it would struggle to sell 400k in six months. It turned out I was even too optimistic about it.

Expect Banner Saga 2 to get a decent spike. It's part of this month's Humble Monthly. Pillars of Eternity got a boost from that.
10 days later, and the game has gone from

Owners 153,741 ± 13,384
to
Owners: 237,543 ± 13,764

As I suspected, that's a significant leap.
Yeah but the previous 150,000 were at decent price while they might get $2 dolars a pop from the last 80,000... still very good money especially for an indy but still

True, but they're working on The Banner Saga 3 right now, so they want more people playing the previous game, hoping it will translate in more sales for the third one.

So Humble Monthly has at least 80,000 subscribers (how many did not activate it, how many already had it)? Not sure if that's a lot or too few, but it's probably a sustainable number.

Yep, initially the Humble Monthly looks good, and it even lets you check out many games, but most of them want to upsell later with either DLCs or sequels. It's not necessary a bad thing (you can get into a new IP cheaper ans easier), but still something to be aware of.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 should be moved in the upper category in the OP. It's now at about 830k on Steamspy, which means it's probably at about 1 million total sales (or even a bit more) since it's been on the best selling games on GOG since before its release.
Oh, and ELEX has just surpassed 100k sales. :M

It's been about a month since my last update, so let's take a closer look at the way things stand at the end of October.

A few things worth pointing out:

- Divinity: Original Sin 2 continues to climb the charts, although at a bit slower pace. The older Divinity titles are also getting boosts due to the release of D:OS2.
- Elex has crossed 100,000 and makes its debut on the chart right between The Age of Decadence and Dead State.
- Shadow Tactics was featured in the November Humble Monthly, so it should get a nice boost during the month, and probably inch closer to 250,000 sold.
- Wasteland 2: Director's Cut is currently featured in Tier 3 of the Humble Jumbo Bundle 10, it should also get a decent boost in the next 10 days.
- Some of the Avernum and Avadon games were bundled during October, and they also get a slight increase in sales.
- Darkest Dungeon had a 66% sale on Steam, which explains the significant increase. The Shadowrun games were also bundled during the Halloween sale, so I assume many people picked up the ones they were missing for cheap.
- Huge jump for Bloodlines, which was 75% off during the Halloween sale, but still... very impressive.

Games that have moved up a tier - Legend of Grimrock 1 & 2, Battle Brothers, Avernum 2, Quest for Infamy, Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition, Caves of Qud, StarCrawlers.

Some of the games with significant increases:

Divinity: Original Sin 2 +180,000
Darkest Dungeon +90,000
Pillars of Eternity +65,000
Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced +60,000
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines +50,000
The Banner Saga +45,000
Shadowrun Returns +30,000
Wasteland 2 +25,000
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition +20,000
Shadowrun Dragonfall +15,000
The Banner Saga 2 +15,000
Tyranny +10,000

While a lot of these would have been sales, some are also re-calibration by SteamSpy itself.

West of Loathing is selling well indeed, already up over 100,000 owners on SteamSpy.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 has slowed down a bit, and is hovering between 880-900k. Meanwhile Tyranny has surpassed 280,000 owners after two recent sales in a row, and is now top of its tier.

D:OS2 has officially surpassed 1 million copies sold.

Nice performance. Even with regional prices (25 - 45) included.
Larian did good.

What is the minimal price in US/EU, btw?
