Zombra I think I figured it out. I *think* it's because I'm in some new game + cycle since I started doing speed runs and stuff at one point, trying to 100% the game. My pawn has the maxed versions of the basic skills and I need to do the run to Gran Soren to be able to swap them.
Cool, I switched to another Strider and enjoyed some success against a hydra. Please ignore it if I sent Ylara home with a lump of coal and an insulting note.

Meh, she would've been useless. It even unset all her augments so I know whatever happened wasn't some plan. ;)

Anyway, I did the slow yak escort and am just resetting everything now. If you use her again, let me know if she's back to being good because I don't remember exactly what I was using when I was playing this regularly. I haven't looked at it in months.

I remember getting fairly annoyed with all the walking around I had to do in this game, at some point though (half way or so?) I decided to speedhack and was having more fun.

I have the same problem this time around as the first time i played this.

The core combat is fun, the class are varied and hybrids are great.

It just lacks enemy variety.

You fight goblin, then bigger goblin then biggest goblin.

You fight wolves, then white bigger wolves.

You fight harpies, the white harpies.

The bosses are cool but when you fight cyclops or chimera for the dozens time it lost its charm.

If you take advantage of ferrystones as well as the 5 portcrystals present in the Dark Arisen version (up from just 1 in the original), then you should be able to use teleportation to sharply limit the amount of backtracking necessary, which in turn will limit the amount of time you spend fighting the more common smaller enemies.

That being said, they did oddly backload the larger, more interesting enemies, so that you'll want to make sure you progress through the main quest in a timely fashion. And it's possible to never encounter a (fightable) griffin except for a certain mandatory quest, even though griffin fights are one of the more exciting types.

Bitterblack Isle, of course, adds a number of new enemies, while also containing most enemy types from the base game.

Guys what do you think about this mod compillation? I'm thinking about using it to make another walkthrough. I will also play with inclination tweak mod to avoid frustrating pawn behaviour.

http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/193/?

The Quality of life changes like unlimited sprint seem undisputable IMO.

My question goes to other aspects like RC rewards, and specially this augments balance table:

I don't like unlimited sprint because. Being a weak guy who can't run very far in the beginning, to then being able to sprint from your hometown to Gran Soren is :incline: Being unable to out run and dodge monsters after getting pushed around is part of the game. It's just pure popamole to make sprinting unlimited. In many ways it trivializes the combat. The port crystals are popamole as well, traveling was supposed to take time, or come at a high price. It was better that way.

I hate coming into this thread because all the people here started playing on PC with Dark Arisen. You are more casual fans of the game. You don't get the importance of it. You just don't know.

The only mod I'd add to this game (besides nudity lollol) would be to allow Warriors to equip 6 skills. That would be a really cool change.

You have no fucking idea what are you talking about. I had made 2 walkthroughs on PS3 way before this releasing on PC.

I got the game (Arisen version) in disk 4 years ago, some random day walking around FNAC and finding the game at 20 euro price. I was in love at that time with Dark souls so I though I would like it, and was a great price for a recent game.

Next time you go brag about your "uncasualness" do some research to stop embarrasing yourself with stupid comments. Also I'm pretty sure some new "casual" PC gamers here have more insightful comments about this mod than you.

How about this one: The mods you describe sound like easy easier mode bullshit. Play vanilla, fag.

I wasn't aware I needed your permission to post.

Enjoy your easy mode mods. It's okay if even you know you suck at everything you've ever tried, just ask your mom what she thinks and she'll tell you you're cool.

I don't like unlimited sprint but that's just me. I like how sprinting balances taller and shorter characters: giants recover more slowly but they don't really need to sprint in order to dodge enemies. Their walk speed coupled with dribbling does the trick often enough. If its unlimited outside of combat, then its great. Otherwise, I wouldn't enjoy it much.

Most rules changes and buffs are overkill, IMO. Dragon's Dogma is plenty easy as it is. That Articulacy buff is crazy.

And of course, cosmetics is just cosmetics. Its almost never a bad idea.

One mod that'd be awesome to see is an UI overhaul. Like SkyUI.

Yo, my dude. I was a console peasant for this one game. The only hardcore thing about it was the framerate drops.

you don't know what you don't know. noone said anything about hardcore. truth is that most people are more casual fans of the game who started playing on PC with Dark Arisen. That's just truth bro

One day I'd like to write a thing about Dragons Dogma. It never got enough good media. I will post it in this thread, whenever I finish.

Looks like pure easy mode. Even that "tweak" list is hilarious - it's not tweaks but a list of colossal buffs. Like, seriously massive. Vanilla bonuses are doubled, triped, quadrupled, a few are quintupled! Jesus christ, if this game is too hard for you, go for it I guess. Play with one hand so you don't have to get Cheeto dust on your controller. But say goodbye to any "gamer cred" or self-respect you may have started with.

Yeah, Articulacy is over the top. I think also Sanctuary is a bit much, I seem to remember there were immortal builds below 30% HP already and dishing out sick damage, even without this change.

There are a few tweaks on that list I'd say are reasonable (the bug fix on inflection is a no brainer, and the rank one augments on that list are utterly useless without the buff) but everything else is huge cheese, basically.

Also, boot is right. I played the game right after it came out, it received a lot of 'balance' changes since then that made it a lot more easy and casual. Although, what the game really needs is a mod to limit consumable spam. Making all the consumables take effect over like a 10 second period and only one can be used at a time would make things soooo much better.

Been playing this a lot, and I so wish the pre-Grigori fight part of the game was longer. Bitterblack and Everfall are good dungeon crawlers, but they're just that. It was the weird non-combat quests and small 40 minute dungeons (usually tied to a quest) that sold the game for me.

If there was a bit more of everything, but keeping the scope and length Zelda-sized like it is now. It's another "I guess it's an unique and quirky game that I love, but it could be bigger and better", MGS V comes to mind.

i think pre grigory game was lame as fuck. post grigori makes the world more interesting, tougher enemies, i wish there was more and tougher post game content in gransys. at that point, the strong bosses that spawn were to weak.
bitterblack though, is awesome trough and trough.

That is what the unlimited sprint does. You don't recover stamina while running. It just stays the same. Abilities still use stamina. Even outside of combat when using something like cutting wind because it's faster than sprinting you still drain stamina. Because you can just pause and use any number of restoratives, it comes down to whether you want to spend more time in the game pausing and going into inventory and recovering stamina because you're running to a quest location. And you don't even use running in combat, you use abilities to close the gap on opponents so I don't think it makes a big difference besides in the non combat part. Also just checked the mod out. It actually also has a side effect of slowing stamina recovery when walking or standing still. So it's balanced.
