Easily one of the best games I've played in recent years. :salute:

Combat system is simply mind-blowing for such an old game. Great complexity and rare in such games clever mission design & great balance. Except maybe Angles, who rock da house.

Basic tactics: when attacked by soldiers, move the cavalry forward to protect your ballistafags:

But when enemy cavalry arrives, pull out the horsies and move your pikefags to the frontlines:

:obviously:

When attacked by wild Dothraki hordes, do as Romans do:

Errr, I mean what they once did...

Not sure who is to blame (original writers or translation team), but writing is top-notch too:

Every 10 levels your commanders can switch to one of 2 new classes, with different units, spells, stats and summons:

Final baddie in this path (there are multiple paths, with different endings) is just some emo demon girl:

New? It's BoS with both expansions (Moscow, Kuban). Kuban is not yet released, but most of the planes are (hence the Spitifire), and the Kuban map and last aircraft will be released this week. The full BoK release will feature a re-worked campaign mode.

Hello everybody,

as you of course remember, one of the key new features of Battle of Kuban is the new gameplay mode - Career. In this mode, you'll build your character, a military pilot. His career will develop day by day in the chosen theatre of war. Each morning (except the days with non-flying weather), the plan for the day is set and the outcome of an each sortie influences your squadron (the pilots can be wounded, lost, the aircraft can be damaged, etc.). The player character will participate in some of the sorties, while the results of other ones will be generated automatically based on the overall frontline situation, how experienced the AI pilots are and which aircraft with what armament they have, weather conditions and so on.

At the end of the day, all pilots stats are updated and in the course of the following days, they could be awarded and advance in rank. When the player character becomes the regiment commander, new tools are given to him during the planning phase to assign other pilots to a mission, set up their aircraft, weaponry, fuel and plot the flight route.

One of the planned features of the Career mode are historically correct weather conditions for each day (averaged for the theater of war), squadrons positions and what aircraft they had. The daily tasks reflect what the squadron was up to during the set timeframe. Overall, this mode will let you learn more about the battle of Kuban (and Moscow and Stalingrad).

After some time I'll try the warrior path. Conjuring orcs and animals was fun, reminds me of druid in Diablo 2. Also, those vampires at the end, damn. You really need to watch out for their melee attacks. Luckily slow plus crossbow did the job. Playing hide and seek with Hecubah was a funny way for the end fight.

Game: Dex

I've been playing this and having a blast. It's like a hybrid of Flashback and Deus Ex.

I haven't encountered any bugs so far, (mapping controls works fine -it seems this was an issue at some point). It looks like the game is more or less patched up by now.

It's pretty impressive that you've got all the world available from the start. You get some pretty cool quests that overlap/interconnect, which is great. You usually have multiple ways to tackle obstacles and one way doesn't block the other, which means you can attack, sneak, talk, hack, however you want it, if you have the appropriate skills of course. Combat could be better but it's not that bad. Interesting Cybernet environment, better than most games. Decent writing and surprisingly good voiceovers. Good quest structure, very nice exploration, beautiful 2D graphics, serviceable -if a bit bland- combat, multiple ways to deal with stuff, interesting cyberspace/hacking. There's some C&C too, which is pretty cool.
