To this I can say inasmuch that I never had any problems. I had the luck that my first boss had travelled in muslim countries extensively, and he taught me many basics. For example in countries like Yemen or Sudan you go directly to hiring an armed escort for you - then you are absolutely safe. Or if you make an arrangement somewhere in the desert that some people wait for you with gasoline, you can 100% rely on them being there with the delivery, but you need to arrive at the agreed time and have the money + some extra.

Now the big difference between you and me is of course that in foreign countries I directly go and befriend and treat some people with respect, whereas you seem to expect it is enough to just run around with a sour, contemptful face. If you have even been to a muslim country, I highly doubt it.

FWIW, I like a place where you get to see people's kooky, shameful deformities prejudices in the cold light of day. In most other venues you get an incomplete picture of their motivations. The Codex is a bit like a nude beach, in a sense, with perhaps fewer, um, breasts.

All that really matters in a mostly uncensored forum, though, is the prevailing behavior of the majority. Most of the people here seem interested in rational dialogue, sometimes (even if not always) about CRPGs. They should attract like-minded new participants into something like a coherent ecosystem. There's always the danger, though, of the cool forebears being overrun by endless waves of idiots until all the interesting people leave and you are left with nothing but undifferentiated shitposting and the heat death of the universe.



The Codex is somewhat protected from this fate by the sheer unpopularity of CRPGs among the general public. It is a particularist sect. The broader the appeal, the quicker the devolution into madness.
