Looks like they learned a thing or two from Paradox:

New Portrait Pack: Faces of Good and Evil

A brand new Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition portrait pack by acclaimed artist, Kieran Yanner is now available on Steam for $1.99 USD.

The Faces of Good and Evil portrait pack includes six brand new character portraits (three male, three female) for you to create charismatic heroes and dastardly rogues and adventure through the Sword Coast.

I don't think it will sell much but the artist is a pretty good one. He makes fantasy pictures that aren't manga or comic book style which is a rare art nowadays.

Why not buying it together with BG2 EE and make an EET install? I wouldn't want to play the expansion without a complete replay.

Yeah, would have made more sense by selling it with a male and female voice set together. Hack, they could have made this and split it up into a male and female version and charge each 1,99. But 6 portraits is a bit underwhelming...

Those portraits are atrocious, no idea what you are on. The faces look photoshopped in and the style clashes with both BG1 and 2, and even SoD. Charging for portraits still hasn't become not-disgusting since Paradox tried to shit this trick out, are they that desperate?

I think they are testing the waters for micro DLC and gauging the fan reaction. Probably planning on stuffing their next release with a bunch of this shit.

Except you're wrong. Ok, for BG2 you're right but for BG1 it exactly matches the style.

Even the technique is different, let alone the style lol. Have you checked your eyeballs lately?

It's photoshopped and painted over. That's the same technique. BG1 portraits are more colorful. But these are made for the Dragonspear expansion which comes with a darker art style (not better art style).

... the style clashes with both BG1 and 2, and even SoD. ...

When it comes to the "Enhanced" Editions, who can even tell anymore? It doesn't have anything resembling an art direction. Everything done by Beamdog is shitty-mod-tier. They're just sorta gluing shit onto the sides of the games. Hell, I was annoyed when BG2 portraits were mixed with BG1 portraits from the start (and I always hated the BG2 portraits by comparison, partially for that specific reason), and now Beamdog is just adding shit to add shit.

If they actually would've created all-new portraits for everything and everyone, it would've been another matter, but nah, that'd produce something resembling a quality product of some kind, we can't have that shit. The art has to match the writing, after all.
What a bargain. You can't be called a fan of BG unless you have these portraits.

Are you being sarcastic?
Is that question for real?
