It reads like a monomaniacal schizophrenic's idea of academic philosophy. It might have some value as art brut but I can't get past the poor spelling: 'antic Persians,' 'vast areals,' 'histiography.' No.

Thank you for all your honest feedback and for your mostly positive critique.
A special thanks to everyone who has backed us so far.

I must admit that it is frustrating that the harshest criticism regards
spelling, grammar and expression errors we made in the description of our project.
We really tried hard and have a native english speaking team member, who grew up in germany.
That possibly explains some expression mistakes. These mistakes wouldn't have happend in a german description and it is frustrating that people are deterred by this.
We definitely need to and will improve this!

I want to emphasize that the english version of the game will not be a simple translation and is just as important to us as the german version of the game.

Looks very interesting. It could serve as a meta-commentary on art itself and the role of the consumer within it because of the game's interactive nature. The consumer of art is very often overlooked and even disregarded from the early 20th century onwards.

This comment.

Can't See Shit: The Game

To be fair, it's difficult to work with dark footage in videos because there are varying screen panels.
Moreover the YouTube compression of dark videos is horrible. KickStarters is even worse.

Some comments if Daniel is here.

- IMO the pitch video should have the Lacrymosa trailer bit up front rather than at the end. You need to catch people's attention from the beginning.
- The pitch needs proper captions. The narrator isn't always very clear over the game audio, and there's a lot of unfamiliar greek words. It's not a problem for Herodotus reading folks like us but others may have issues.
- I find the paypal option being available up front rather too optimistic? Inadvisable to split the campaign, at least for now.

Thanks for the advice. Did all of it!

It reads like a monomaniacal schizophrenic's idea of academic philosophy.

I'm not even mad...

You can't be PRESTIGIOUS without even trying (without having a PRETENSE or being PRETENTIOUS).
I agree that not every PRETENTIOUS thing is bound to become PRESTEIGIOUS, but it's always a good sign!

True.

We are now working on the next update featuring Great Persons ( a feature we didn't cover in the preview but we are feeling could be one of the most exciting ones in the game ) and animal companions as well as the labyrinths they can explore for you.
Please stay tuned!

Best regards,
Daniel Bill

Update I: Vote the Truth, DRM-Free-Version, Prospects

The campaign has been live for a few days now. Time, to thank all of our backers for their support.

Our “Vote the Truth” experiment seems well received and preliminary results will soon be presented. At the same time we are working on a larger campaign update that we want to release in the next couple of days. It will mainly cover animal companions that can accompany the players and explore labyrinths for them. More information soon to follow…

Lastly we want to clarify that every backer, no matter the level, can receive a DRM-free version of the game, if he does not want the STEAM version. Backers already receiving a physical version of the game, automatically receive a DRM-free version on disc and a STEAM version if they wish, so they cannot lose the game by losing or damaging the disc.

Thank you very much for all the interest – especially within the RPGcodex community.

Update II: First results of our "Vote the Truth" experiment

We have now finally released the first results of our "Vote the Truth" experiment. They can be found in the campaign description. Watching the development over the last few days was exciting. It seems like most of our backers lean towards a more collectivistic social system that perceives society not just as a "purpose-alliance" of individuals but as part of a greater task. The general welfare of the righteous is clearly central for all of the voters.

82a94d4034898b12cb1f7f64e34652a2_original.png

The Socialists are currently in the lead with almost than half of the votes.
Karl Marx is opening a bottle of cognac.

The Imperialists follow closely, geared up for battle, with 34% of the votes.
Napoleon Bonaparte has already started posing heroically.

Right now the Liberalists appear far behind with 17% of the votes.
John Stuart Mill is reconsidering his calculations.

Some people asked what the actual influence of the votes on the final game will be. So we decided to give you a hint. There are three types of government in the world of DEMIURGOS. An oligarchic-autocracy, a monarchal-empire and a democratic-republic. Your votes will influence one of these social structures.

We're excited and anxious how the vote will turn out in the end and are happy that our idea is so well received. Thank you for your feedback and your suppport.

Wow. I see we are already forgetting history. Seriously, are we so dumb and lacking in long term memory? We in the Second World are still feeling the effect of socialism and can't drag ourselves out of this economic hole. Unless people are voting socialist for shits and gigs.

Damn you guys are quick.

I think their understanding of socialism is more like sweden. Or Bernie Sanders.

Btw, don't want to brag but Warren Spector - the producer of my favorite game of all time - pledged as socialist.

'Socialism' typically now means a combination of 'capitalism moderated by state intervention, but somehow different from, say, Keynes', and 'ideal utopian future', and has nothing to do with ye olde socialism.

It doesn't mean anything that it hasn't meant before, stop being so naive. Socialism is a failure of an ideology and an economic disaster. It has never succeeded wherever it was tried and it will never do so. If people mean something else, then it should be labeled as something else or clearly described as such, and even then I wouldn't be so gullible to believe it's not a covert attempt at marketing socialism differently.

Yo if you read the update "socialism" in this game is defined as "An oligarchic-autocracy" so it's not anything near real socialism. Wikipedia describes socialism quite well "Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership and democratic control of the means of production".

Socialism (or even communism) as it has been implemented in reality is just state capitalism. A far cry from its revolutionary roots.

Update III: Over 100 Supporters and new Teaser

We have surpassed the magic number of 100 supporters. It makes us mighty proud to see some of the big names of the industry among the backers. Warren Spector, Josh Sawyer and Whalenought Studios for example. Thank you !

To celebrate this occasion and to make it easier for potential supporters to get an understanding of the game without watching the 20+ minute preview, we have placed a short teaser at the top of the campaign-page.

Thanks again to all the backers, supporters and commentators ! Wishing you a good start into the new week.

Warren Spector is now among the hundred or so people who have so far backed this game. That has to be an encouraging sign!

Interesting.
I do have a few books of him here, but they are all in Czech (which I cannot read).
Will need to dig deeper and educate myself, maybe he is a potential candidate for one of the great persons in the game.
