So apparently that happened during their crusade for equality and socialism. From what i gathered on the forum Russia got hit the hardest with double prices. It must amazing to wake some day and find that your buying power have doubled during the night. One of their guys came out and wrote this:

Hey gang,
As you have noticed prices for our products have increased in certain regions around the globe and this is something we've intentionally done. The reason for this is to make our prices match the purchasing power of those areas, as well as create a more equal price point for our products across the globe.

Our prices have remained pretty much the same for several years and it's only natural for us to re-evaluate price points at regular intervals based on the strength of various currencies, fluctuations in world markets and many other factors. This is something that all publishers do and we are no exception.

Sadly this means that the price has gone up for certain regions and whilst this is something we'd like to avoid, it's necessary to keep our price point more in line with our other markets. We sincerely apologize for any frustration this may cause and hope you can understand why we are doing this.

Now when you go and click on the reviews in steam you will see that at least the top 100 recent reviews are all negative.
Here a link to the the forum if someone wants to read a lil bit of fun:

It's not like they release anything worth buying anymore.
Last thing I bought from them was EU4 and even that had to be salvaged by a fuckton of DLCs and one of the overhaul mods.

BUahahahahaha i am just reading the paradox forum comments and the reviews and i am laughing out loud. The story as whole is that PE had decided to pump up their prices in the poor regions around a month ago so that the summer sales at steam were around their original price and a lot of people were/are pissed.A few days ago (14.06.2017) they released two crappy dlcs for two of their games (HoI4 and EU4) so they could milk those cows.It was all fine and dandy until the users reviews begin piling up and they are mostly negative(such a surprise right?).So in their infinite wisdom the kuks at paradox decided to begin flagging stupid negative reviews as "abusive" and "off topic",thus a forum topic was made at their forum. After the mods/developers saw that their fanboy paladins were in minority and mostly retarded they decided with even greater wisdom to lock the topic.
Here is a link if someone wants to read and have a good laugh. There is button "show only devs responses" if you only want to see the paradox majesty:

Yeah they have really gone to shit. I'm kinda surprised they allowed the big thread about the price increase to be honest.

Edit:

From that thread:

Hey folks! Just a heads-up that I may lock this thread soonish. We read you loud and clear as far as the thoughts and feedback we've received so far. If we think of a group of people that are willing to cut the crap and say how they feel, it's our Community, and although sometimes it may be not what we want to hear, it helps us grow! We love you all for that!

The reason I'm thinking of closing the thread is that this is fast becoming less about the OP and more about arguments between our "supporters" and "detractors", again, we are touched by the enthusiasm, but the last thing we want is for you to be arguing amongst yourselves.

At the same time, I don't want to stifle discussion! Although I feel you've been clear in your thoughts and your message has been received, you are of course allowed to continue talking about the topic. I just don't like this circular arguing that's going on, we don't want to cause a divide between people who have a shared love of the same game! At the end of the day, we're all here for the same reason. :)

In perhaps an hour from now I'll lock the thread, please do feel free to write any closing comments you want to. There will be no penalisation for opening a new thread on this topic, I just feel it can be healthy to "reset" things. Again, we don't want to be the cause of arguments.

Have a great weekend all, and again, thanks for always being true to us!

/Escher

Ok, closing this now. Again, thanks so much for being open and honest with us. Unlike our normal policy where we forbid reopening similar threads, you are welcome to in this case.

Again the goal here is not to stifle discussion, but rather "reset" it, you folks should not be arguments my amongst yourselves, even though again, the enthusiasm from both points of view is touching. :)

Have a great weekend all!

Aren't the only people in those countries actually buying games the beneficiaries of corruption money, with everyone else pirating? This is just a form of socialism, which I hear is popular in poor places.

With a game like Pillars of Eternity with the expansions costing R$ 183,00 while the minimum wage is R$ 937,00 a month, they are just pushing with those prices, this is 1/5 of a minimum wage. For comparison, a game like Pillars with the expansions is costing like 40 USD, with 11 dollars a hour on some states on the US, if you work 40 hours a week, you will get $ 1720 dollars a month, 40 USD is 1/43 of a minimum wage, the minimum wage of a brazilian in dollars is 283,93 dollars right now. A doctor gets paid around here from 10 to 15 minimum wages on an average, a whooping 4258,95 dollars, so two Mcdonald's hamburger flippers earn more than a Brazilian doctor, taking in mind that a brazilian doctor is from the "elite", so the goverment tax your ass until probably a single Mcdonald's hamburger flipper earn more on the US than a brazillian doctor.

So, yeah, at those prices, only the guys that stolen money from Petrobras and other state companies have the money to pay for this shit.

You think the reason they're doing this is to prevent key selling from those countries?
If that is their intention, key reselling must be a bigger problem than losing entire markets for piracy then, because that is what is going to happen. I'm not a bottom of the barrel poorfag here on Brazil but I'm already feeling the heat of those prices. No game on the world is worthy 1/5 of a monthly minimum wage, they are just killing their market here with those prices.

At least some of the keys are region locked, just checked a few EUIV DLCs on Nuuvem. That doesn't prevent activating them if you use a VPN of course.

They usually have such giant discounts periodically that the overall undiscounted price hardly matters. I think I bought Victoria 2 for a couple of dollars, and CK2 for some laughable sum. The key point is not to buy games while they are still new.

Most likely and that makes it very stupid move from their part. They are shutting not only the Russian market, they got hit harder but that doesn't mean that only they got hit.Brazilians are having only like 50% increase in price. As for key selling.... why should people stop selling them???They may make less money but they still make money from it and people that buy it still save money on it.From what i read they are hitting all they markets except Freedom land,Broken union and the Ozzies. Most likely it have something to do with them being on the open market(Borsa?) and Tencent owning some part of them. But as a whole they were always greedy lazy incompetent swedish gay communists.I do hope that Obsidian break all ties whit them.I don't know if the fuckers did anything publishy in PoE.

Hahahahahaha poor people hate socialism, they are all capitalist because they want money.Rich privilege people that live in ivory towers are communist like say sweden. It is really amusing thing to be honest.I am from former communist republic and my grandfather was in a work camp for a time and when i talk to all those scandinavian liberal communists i am baffled how they are so far gone that they don't even know that they are communists and how brainwashed are by their propaganda.

:nocountryforshitposters:

So that is why a Swedish company want more money... because they are communists and not capitalist like everyone else in the west. Its the marxist theory that is fucking up this country.
