I hope this will be a good lesson for other game developers in the industry.
If you focus on SJW bullshit and forcing everything to create the most "diverse game" you are going to fail at everything.
These weird people think games are some sort of capture point. If you really wanna change something, go political but frek off from games.

Destroying shit is kind of their goal. They don't really want to do real work in the first place or they would not get on the justice train.

Never would have thought that Obsidian would outlast Bioware.

Mmm? I'm not displeased with the result, its just Bioware was working on all these original properties and Obsidain was squeeking by with Alpha Protocol, always on the cusp of closing. From an industry perspective it is somewhat of a reversal of fortunes.

It would have made for a good story, but I don't think SJW or "diversity" had a lot to do with the bad sales and especially with the bad reviews. If the game had witcher 3 caliber NPC models, animations and dialogue, no amount of LGBT characters and painted hair would stop people from playing it and praising it.

So unless you can argue that it is impossible to write a good story with gay characters in it, or to make a lifelike animation of a transsexual NPC, I think that Andromeda is another case of a game hurt more by its neglected production values than by its actual gameplay.

The word you are looking for is societal control point. When the movie industry (a major control point) started to go down, I watched them start to go after games in the 2000s. The reason they do it is because they want access to the kiddies, because people are easier to brainwash when they are young. After a certain age you can't do anything with a person who has been conditioned, so you have to get at them young.

To them its all about enforcing The Narrative, and no other narrative is permissible but theirs. Hence the purging behavior they engage in, in politics, business, the media, the universities, and the Internet. We are seeing them cutting the funding of right wing commentators on Youtube now. Politics isn't a game to these people. It is everything. So they aren't just going to "frek off".

lol of course the humorless scolds here immediately resort to reductio ad SJWam

BioWare's fate was written on 11/11/11, the date of Skyrim's release. Despite endless budgets and years of time, they failed to successfully adapt to the open world RPG marketplace. They're dinosaurs.

:retarded:

You must have the shittiest business sense of any jew alive.

That's like saying you went out of business because your competition moved to another country and went into another industry

Yes, having a niche all to themselves with no competition at all drove them out of business. Genius.

People don't play typical shitgames for the graphics, mainly just for the story shit and to pop a few moles. And that's what these are, I don't see how they are even as much of RPGs as Deus Ex or Bioshock for example. They are just kinda general gamez.

So if the story is weird shit no one cares about except 2% of the population who are gay tranny or pedo then obviously it's gonna flop. And that's exactly what happened.

Sure you can have a good story about someone who just happens to be gay, but you can't have a story that's basically an excuse for a gay porn simulator and have broad appeal. You have only to look at all the complaints people make which got stronger and stronger with each game to know where it was going.

Andromeda itself only had a much smaller budget otherwise it would have had better art. That is 100% about money, and the money they get depends on the money they make, and they have been making less and less over time for obvious reasons.

The same goes for the Democrats in the last election. If your strategy is demonizing an entire race (in this case white people) and this race happens to be the majority of your target audience, then of course you're going to lose. Bileware had this muslim guy for the longest time who said thing like white people should be killed, etc. I think he eventually was fired, but the fact they kept him on board and tolerated his views for as long as they did speaks for itself. And yes, those sorts of views will impact the design of a game - even if only subconsciously. The gaming media didn't really cover this as much as they perhaps should have, but word of mouth still got around, so people did know. That's probably why they eventually fired that guy... not because they had a problem with his views personally, but because other people did and they were probably getting blasted for it. This game and its agenda would have been perfectly fine if its target country was Mugabe's Zimbabwe, but not here.

Grumpy Grognard there's a new explicitly canon Dragon Age comic that just debuted a couple of days ago. Not the sign of an intellectual property on hiatus.

Also this guy seems pretty confident it's happening

Depending on how long "after that" is, it could at least be on a shorter hiatus. :M

Of course it's equally funny that Dragon Age ended up with the upper hand between the two. Not what the conventional wisdom was just a few years ago.

The punishment will come down on every wretched servant of the decline! Let's hope that Bethesda is the next one to bite the dusto!
