Did anyone make a successful use of daggers? I have a guy with good stats but he's less useful than I hoped. Useless vs shields, sometimes he nukes a double-gripper in one turn but it's rare. Fatigue cost is insane too.

I'm mostly with Sarissofoi. Dagger specialists can be pretty decent, but if you've got a viable bro for it, twohanders are likely to be better.

Daggers are, however, quite good as a secondary weapon on all your frontliners. If you find yourself against a (hedge) knight in impressive armor, and you gain an advantage, shank the knight and pry his shell off him.

Fearsome+Duelist+Berserker+Overwhelm+backstabber+fast adaptation+dagger mastery and you have a nice debuffing-killing machine that can strip enemies of valuable armor. Useful to get more money

Speaking of prying a shell, i did that with a bandit leader. Just picture it, the bandit leader was the last one left and he's in a circle getting poked by 5 dudes round after round...

Nothing in this game is fatigue efficient.
Other than 2hand spam.

A lute has 40% ignore armor and 10% vs armor according to the (probably outdated) wiki. Seems ideal. :shittydog:
(Aside from the ignore armor part of the dmg being reduced by part of the armor, that is.)

12.5k for a unique 1-hnd warhammer with much less durability and 1 less max fatigue compared to a regular warhammer, otherwise identical. Thanks, but no thanks.

Is there a reliable way of getting intact equipment from bandits that doesn't involve daggers and their low accuracy? I know flails can pass shields and aim for the head, so you could just destroy the helmet and leave the shield and armor intact, but that seems fatigue inefficient.

You're supposed to aim the Flail secondary attack exclusively on targets with no helmet.
I've killed so many bandits in one hit in this manner. Raiders tend to forget their hats at home. And you can collect a lot of 110-130 Armor this way.
Doing that constantly is inefficient.

When fighting Goblins, wolves and such that offer very little incentive to go for the head - I switch to swords.

How are weapon drops handled? Pure luck?
Ran into some brigand raiders with 3 longaxes very early, would have loved at least one but got zilch.

Armor drop is purely deterministic though, if it's not destroyed in battle you get it?

Compared to daggers and puncture flails are super efficient if you face someone without/with a bad helmet. 1 hit is almost guaranteed injury and morale drop, often kill, 2 hits is a pretty much guaranteed kill and most bandits (including raiders) have bad or no helmets. Remember that puncture has a penalty to hit, can't crit and daggers have low damage, a hit to the head always crits. Daggers are better vs wiederganger in nice hats, bandit leaders, knights and such.

Yeah I killed 4 marksman before and only got 1 crossbow.
So you can assume it's luck - but armor seems consistent. Cause I encountered a bunch of brigands in wolf armor and I ran out of fatigue after killing 5 with headblows.
Ended up with 4 wolf mail and 1 wolf leather armor.
My advice is to have the best melee guy (60-70) handle the flailing. Slowly adding more and more flail from weapon drops. Brigands can be destroyed consistently in this manner. And you end up with more loot to sell.
The best part is even if you face shielded brigands wearing padded leather, you often times need not bother with destroying their shield - just go straight with regular attack that ignores shield. Or if you want a guaranteed kill , net him.

It should increase the chance on your character sheet.

Do you fail the mission if the 4 caravan guards die but the donkeys stay alive? Sometimes I have issues reaching the rear marksmen in time, and they usually snipe the guards because crap equipment, and crap guard AI doesn't know how to take cover or join the fray so the marksmen get LOS blocked by their own team.

It should be okay.
Imo for guards and your men all dead and donkey alone bringing supplies to starved city.

I get so good map in my last sadly failed run and now I roll 15 times and it is the same old bullshit.
I was just lucky this time?
Or maybe adding codex in company name give better maps?

What make me even more angry (on myself) that I actually did not backup this map on day 1.

Okay, fucking ancient legionaries and honor guards. Just met eight of them. Lost four bros. Four! And I thought I was doing everything right, more or less -- shields, hammers, reach axes, the works. Damn thing is a steamroller. I'm feeling for those poor Germanians. Any tips?

Mess with their formation. I'm usually send my weakest man to flank them but keep safe distance, so they can't reach him.They often start to regroup and pursue him. Then lead them somewhere with favorable terrain. 1-2 well placed trees can change things in your favor.
