So today I joined the console peasantry and bought a ps4 pro. I bought Bloodborne for me and last guardian for the woman. Do we have a recommended list of other ps4 games I should look at, specifically games that are ps4 only? I already have nioh on my watchlist but am not up to date what else is good.

Nothing unfortunately, the PS4 library is utter shit.

Pretty much the only exclusives (outside Japaneseru anime games) are Uncharted 4 (which I've heard sucks) and Horizon Zero Dawn which just came out and looks like a decent Oblivion/Skyrim type akshun RPG.

Bloodborne's the big one and you already have that covered.

I don't know if you had a PS3, but if you did and liked the inFamous series, Second Son follows right in their footsteps. I like the game but it's short. Iit's really cheap now though. Not an RPG, but I assume thats okay.

Dragon Quest Heroes and Builders, but those will depend on how you feel about Dynasty Warriors and building type games. Also, I'm not sure but think aren't true exclusives, so much as eExclusve to various Sony systems. Heroes was on PS3 too, but only in Japan. Builders was on Vita, I think even outside of Japan.

the PS4 library is utter shit.
I wouldn't say it's shit, just lacking in exclusives. If you don't Xbone and your PC is made of duck(t) tape and broken dreams and mainly only good for porn in 2017, PS4's library is okay if not spectacular.

Until Dawn might be worth it if your girl is into slasher movies and doesn't mind quicktime event gameplay.

God of War 3 and TLoU remasters are must play if you haven't already. Outside that and the ones you already bought, there are this year's games like Horizon, Persona 5 and Yakuza, which i can't personally recommend because i didn't play yet but they're all highly rated.

(Moved Final Fantasy XII to upcoming games)

Released games:
Digimon: Cyber Sleuth
Might not have the best story and writing, but it's a decently fun jrpg, especially on hard.

Dragon's Crown

Fun but repetitive beat 'em up with rpg elements and loot by VanillaWare. Can be played in co-op, online and offline.

Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky

If you have played and liked the Valkyrie Profile games, you should give this a go. Not as polished, but still fun. There aren't really any games like it. It's made by the same developers.

Yakuza 0
I don't know if you've played any of the Yakuza games, but this is probably my favorite series on PlayStation. Action rpg style gameplay with fun story and sometimes, over the top side quests. Think of it as a soap opera that isn't for housewives.

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir
Extremely good looking beat 'em up rpg that lets you play as different characters for different scenarios. Gets a bit repetitive, but this remaster improves a lot of things people complained about in the PS2 version.

World of Final Fantasy
Artstyle might be offputting, but the turn-based combat is fun. I had more fun with this games' demo than I did with the ones for FFXV.

Ratchet & Clank
Gravity Rush 2

I don't mention any games that are also available on PC. That includes released games like Nier Automata, or upcoming games likeYs VIII and more.

Potentially good upcoming games games:
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory
Dragon Quest XI
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III (i don't remember if a PC version was announced)
Ni No Kuni II
Persona 5
Tokyo Xanadu eX+
Yakuza Kiwami
Yakuza 6

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Final Fantasy XII is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. It has its flaws, but it had good writing, voice acting and if you didn't grind levels, it was the most challenging game in the series for me on my first playthrough. This version has a fast forward option in battles, removes the damage limit and also adds a job system. Your character gets to pick a job and is then locked into that role for the rest of the game. This isn't released yet. I must have been high.

I recommend a general gaming site for all of you. This site is supposed to be for people who like rpgs.

Did you get it yet? I just bought it a few days ago and it's pretty damn good. The last two days have been a mess 'cause I've been getting to work after only sleeping for like 4 hours or so. All that forging stuff is fucking time consuming. :negative:

Atelier Sophie is good fun. I hear that Atelier Firis is better, but I've yet to play it. I'm going to pick it up today after class so we'll see.

I liked Digimon World: Next Order a lot more than Cyber Sluts, so I recommend you go with Next Order. Maybe the new Cyber Sleuth spinoff will be better if they fix the broken gameplay, but I'm not banking on it. Cyber Sluts has absolutely dreadful machine translation with several lines of nonsensical text and feels like a very low budget game in general.

Edit: So far I'm loving Atelier Firis. This may be my favorite Atelier game yet.

And there's a reason. You misunderstood lack with protection. As if your doctor says to you "you lack of viruses", no, "you are healthy".

Yes already have it but I rarely play outside of weekends and decided to play bloodborne first. I also spend a night playing until dawn with the woman.

Play Until Dawn with your girlfriend. It's really fun with non-gamer people. My wife started "What? You want me to play his with you? You know I don't like videogames".. then half an hour later she was "Don't stop, let's see if Sam will survive to the end! (And that bitch Emily dies horribly)". We are half way into it and will continue tonight.

*edit: shit, you already know Until Down. That's what happens when you type without reading the thread. Allow me to suggest Alone with You, then. Its similar to SOMA regarding sci-if existential questions. I think it's exclusive though I ain't sure.

And congrats on Bloodborne. Don't forget getting Old Hunters DLC, as its frigging Artorias of the Abyss level goodness.

Since I bought the ps4 I cant claim the most prestigous taste but wasnt last of us just one step away from being a walking simulator and a boring, cliched, bad, one at that? i Remember trying Uncharted years ago since everyone was telling me how great it was and was bored five minutes in.

No, it was a beautifully rendered post apocalyptic game. A realistic moving story, not cliché ,even the end was quite unexpected and highly satisfying. It's anything but boring, i an all seriousness its THE ps3 title. Now with HD graphics it can only get better.Of courseit depends on your taste one man treasure is another's garbage, i liked uncharted too , a completely different kind of game in my opinion. I guess you should get an used copy for cheap and resell it after , if theres still some brick and mortar shops in your area doing that.

+ The story is great.
+ The characters are very well done, not just the main characters, the side characters are also fleshed out and interesting.
+ The stealth part is really fun, and it's possible to ignore a majority of enemies by using it.
+ The world/atmosphere is amazing. From sneaking through apocalyptic cities while dodging scavengers, to running through forests, watching the wildlife.
+ The Graphics are great.
+ The voice acting is superb.
+ The gameplay is fun and satisfying.
+ The change in scenery (Summer - Autumn - Winter - Spring) is beautifully done and feels very real.
+ The ending forces you to really think about your choice.

- The 'zombies' can get a bit bland at times, it's not that bad as you face other types of enemies.
- The start can be a bit slow.
- There is a place in the game where they force you to change character for a while, some people love it others hate it, I enjoyed it.
- If you're going to go guns blazing and ignore stealth, certain parts can get a bit long.
- There are parts of the game where the difficulty spikes.
-/+ There are bosses that require stealth and brains to kill.
- There are many cutscenes, but they're all interesting and well done, nothing like Final Fantasy X where you're playing a movie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfdtzfV2sow <- A short scene from the game, no spoilers.

You mentioned in your original post that you brought The Last Guardian for your woman. I played through The Last of Us with my girlfriend, and I think she enjoyed it even more than me. Metacritic (95 /92 user) is not wrong in this case, it is a 9.5 game.

It isn't a walking simulator but the story is predictable with good writing.

The gameplay could do with some heavy improvements and mechanical overhaul. The stealth isn't all that good and the AI is as inconsistent as MGSV.

I enjoyed the Last of Us more than Uncharted 4, TLOU has more gameplay sections and upgrading weapons and shit, U4 has far fewer gameplay sections and they're more linear and give you set weapons to use, no progression from mission to mission. Way too much climbing too which takes no skill since all jumps are done automatically like in Assassin's Creed or something.
