Mass Effect: Andromeda Pre-Release Thread

This might actually be a step in the right direction. Paragon/Renegade was always just too gamey.
Judging by that 45min gameplay video, no it isn't. The dialog looks like it just doesn't matter. At all.

So we've gone from a binary good/evil option to all roads lead to Rome? I guess the only way to go now is to eliminate the illusion of choice altogether and just have a "click to continue" button.

Those new aliens look fucking ugly, of course the human and Asari don't seem to be looking much better. Did they include any land whales? Well atleast they have Jaquan which is likely just a typical negro.

And spoil the flow? No, let's just have a continuously playing cinematic with occasional quicktime events. :negative:

I am noticing the lack of fat people in the ME universe.

Fat phobia much? :M
Probably wasted all of the budget on the shitty voice acting and dumb shit. Would laugh my ass off if some SJWs complained about it.

Character creator gives me the same vibes as the creator from Oblivion.

MP - Yeah, play as a team, support one another. Suuure. In ME3, multiplayer comes down to basically poaching enemies before anyone else can. I wonder ME:A reaches this level.

Yeah, no one will hear when aliens are going to fuck you with a bang:

What!?
Well it seems that plagiarism is alive and well in Bioware's studios
First Mass Effect 3 and now this, and if I recall correctly Bethesda studios also nicked art from other sources.

What the hell is it with these studios, they get ridiculous high budgets but they still resort to stealing art.
I don't call this inspiration any more, it is fucking theft.

In my own defense, I have never played any Bioware games other than MDK2 before the Mass Effect series, but I am not surprised to find out about this.

I godhonestly want to be a creator of original content and when I find out about cases like this it seriously makes me lose hope about artists and creative endeavors.

In fairness, every creative field does things like this. Why reinvent the wheel when you can imitate a proven success faster? In fact, imitation is how we learn how to make things to the level of someone with higher skill.

Especially when you are working with a budget, time is a factor. You don't want to spend 10 hours on a drawing that should take you 4 and end up with something that's unacceptable.

99% of people won't notice or care that some artist traced Viconia's face from an old porn magazine because it's only one part of a $50 game and not a privately commissioned piece of art or a comicbook whose art is its primary selling point.

But inexcusable is stuff like using fan art in the game, or taking an important character reveal like Tali's and just using some cheaply photoshopped stockphoto. :argh:

I remember in NWN one of the character portraits was basically a traced over picture of Angelina Jolie. It eventually got patched out.

Bio have been stealing art assets for ages.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Not to be a kill-joy but watched a preview that didn't paint the game in a total negative light. Kinda looked fun roaming the planet and driving over people. Space GTA  Looks a lot better than Inquisition which had this follow the minimap thing going. Sure there is still a radar at top, but hopefully it can get toggled off.

Thanks mate  I've been avoiding anything related to the game both on media and codex because I don't want to be spoil too much (and seeing a franchise that played a huge part in helping me get over depression getting bashed on my favorite site is kinda disheartening so I pretty much never checked this thread before ), the Nomad and combat in this footage looks so damn fun, hope we can pan out the camera a bit more, it's a tad too close to Ryder's back.

Reminder that Bioware dedicated more time and resources to designing Diana Allers, who served absolutely no purpose to the plot of ME3 and basically solely existed as pandering to IGN and Jessica "PSP Fellatio" Chobot, than to designing Tali's actual face (which fans of the series had been curious about since the first game, and which you don't even see unless you get the Quarian bad ending).

Odds are, something you like very much sucks. Why? Because this is RPG Codex.
If Codex didn't like Biowares games these threads wouldn't be this long. Interestingly many in threads have said that ME1 was good and in later ME's are shit. Yet Codex opinion on ME1 when it was published was that it is utter shit and part of decline. So in ten years Codex opinion will be that ME4 was quite qood and ME7 is utter shit.
