So many battered wives in here: "he'll change if we just give him another chance! He promised he'd make a good RPG next time!" The problem with Obsidian is that they've proven themselves incapable

Wait, what? Incapable? I'm sorry, I don't think you know what that word means if you think Obsidian is incapable of producing a masterpiece of cRPG design. It's the most capable developer out there that we know of. (InXile has a shot with TTON, we'll see how that turns out, but I am more skeptical of them than of Obsidian.)

PoE was a lark and it was the market teaser to see if these games still could be profitable. It was made cheaply and safely, and it succeeded in todays market. I have no reason to think that PoE2 won't be at least 'Quite Good' and worth my $175 backing. If it only ends up being worth $50, that's fine for me too.

We will have to agree to disagree. I can piece quite a few different pieces of Obsidian's released work together and easily visualize how they can make a modern classic. Maybe even out of PoE2... but probably not. Tyranny definitely not.

Darth Roxor, since you keep asking for a citation, have you played White March? How about a review to compare to your earlier observations?

also

The guy responsible for the best areas and encounters in PoE (Raedric's Hold, Stalwart Mines, etc) is now PoE2's lead designer. People at Obsidian read Roxor's review, they really do seem to have gotten the memo on encounter design. It helps that they're in competition with Larian now.

jeez and here i thought it was a downright wrong biased unbalanced rant that no one would ever want to read and/or take seriously

It was an edgy unbalanced rant with some valid points.

And I know, White March and other changes might force you to change your opinion and we certainly do not want that.

The worst part of White March is that it strongly resembles Icewind Dale but has none of its charm. Some encounters are cool, though

It has a charm of its own though, but some people want exact clones of the IE games.

Obsidian is dead to me, their games are just too boring. There is a ray of hope that Cain and Boyarsky will change that though, assuming that Josh Sawyer won't step in to fuck it up. Call me when there will be fundraiser for Troika\{Anderson}

So, have you apologized to Darth Roxor yet?

Wasn't Raedric's Hold entire quest line designed by Eric Fenstermaker?

How cucked do you have to be to contribute to this?

If you dare to speak the truth about Bernie Obsidian, the cucks fanboys will call you racist butthurt, donate their college savings lowest tier of $29 and talk about a socialist utopia future game that might actually be good, despite the clear track record of failure.

It's comforting to see that the butthurt-brigade remains the most active posters in new PoE-threads
Says something about the game that disliking it inspires more emotion than liking it, does it not?

Not sure exactly what though.

Made the leap of faith and pledged the 29€ for a digital key in the fundraiser. I'm very reticent to preorder anything, but considering its for a good cause, why the fuck not.

The amount of joy POE brings to the codex it is a must.

POE 2 will be like sending coal to Newcastle.

I didn't donate to the campaign. I'm not sure why I have money allocated. Someone else must have made a donation on my behalf. It's enough to get a game key too

Whoever did that, rest assured, that key will be donated to someone else when the keys are fulfilled.

Nice of you to give a key to someone else if you don't intend to play it. Just wait until the game is released and give it to someone then. Why make more work for someone right now just to show how cool you are?
