When Ascendancy happened, they made the blonde super-good, so tons of people played her.
So, naturally, when the next league was about to start, they fucked the blonde, hard and deep.
Now almost no-one plays scion because her ascendancy is crap.
And right now in PoE what ascendancy you choose is super-important.

Getting tired of this "gamepads are evil" tirades that kids these days like so much to spew. Grim Dawn has gamepad support, and let me tell you, for some classes it's awesome. It feels like Gauntlet on steroids. I would love if PoE would also bring gamepad support to PC, but obviously it won't, because then crybabies like you lot would infest PoE forums claiming the game was dumbed down. Like if it's a very smart game to begin with.

I am currently playing my most expensive build. Trypanon Cyclone Berserker focusing on chaos damage and poison. I am using 5L Trypanon, 5L Cospri's Will and Abyssus as expensive items (also enchanting rings with bonus chaos damage costs 13c per ring). Also using Marlene's Fallacy for free 220 % crit multi and free culling strike. I am getting bonus chaos damage from jewels.

I expect my DPS to be around 25-30k in mid 80s without taking into effect Poison damage. Life will be 5000+, not sure how much yet, probably around 5500. This is a BSC character so I don't need to go full defense mode.
Both Berserker and Abyssus will make me receive more damage so I am using Fortify, 5 end charges and Enfeeble to stay alive.

EDIT: I was also thinking of trying this as CI with Assassin or something but I cannot use Cospri's Will which gives me free poison and and don't get life and mana leech as part of ascendancy. Also Abyssus does not work with CI as you need that slot for ES gear. It would be all around less damage.

With your main gear you're pretty much forced to go life.
However, with your defensvie set-up you should do good, just stack shitton of life.
What are your links? cyclone + added chaos + void manipulation + inc aoe/conc effect + faster attacks + 6th link?
A purely chaos damage spec? Getting extra flat chaos dmg from both rings?
I'm not entirely sure you can stack enough base flat damage.

I had a nice idea with trypanon, but it was a crit ele inqusitor, with base damage coming from anger + wrath + heralds + some juicy flat ele damage rings. Bonus points for being able to use kaom's heart and not having to use abyssus (dat crit multi tho).

Cyclone+FA+Added Chaos+Void+Fortify (6th would be Inc AoE/Conc). I don't need Inc AoE as 5th as Maul + dualist weapon range (+2) + 10% increase from passive nodes (and q20 Cyclone) so far gives me good AoE. Increase of base weapon ranges in 2.5 did good for Cyclone.
I am also using the chaos boots: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Alberon's_Warpath
Two rings I have not enchanted yet. I am also using 5 frenzy charges and stacking attack speed wherever I can to counter the Trypanon speed penalty. My crit multi is 700% I think. I will get more on jewels.
Dps is 15k atm and that is without Berserker's 40% more damage with lvl 16 or so added chaos damage with q0% and only one jewel in use (but damage is when I got 5 frenzy charges on but also without potions).

Ok, I did the merc lab and now I have 21k dps and 25k with potion use.
I need to shop for good jewels and better rings.

HUGE NEWS:

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1823777

Self-enforced Solo Self-Found play is an increasingly popular choice for players who want to have a more challenging experience in Path of Exile. In March's Content Update 2.6.0, we plan to add formal support for this mode so that players who enjoy SSF can prove that they reached certain levels without outside assistance. We have written a Development Manifesto post about our current plans.

This is basically what i started playing since like 1,5 year. Fuck yes.

Huh, nobody posted it here already? Its like a week old news.

But yeah, it made a few people happy. It basically allows you to play Solo Self Found with an official leaderboard for bragging right.

I might even try it later on, for a challenge.

It would be fuck yes if they made drop rates better and let you get build enabling uniques without 1000h spent solo farming.

Then this mode would lose the point.

Whole point of SSF is to play with what you find. Not research builds and shit before you even start game.

Once i started playing SSF i never even once researched builds online. On other hand if i found some interesting unique i myself spend time bulding character instead of looking online. Because without trading online builds are worthless.

edit:

This also means i don't watch what new Uniques are there in game once new patch lands. I genuinly feel good when i find some new unique i didn't know about and my mind start to race with ideas for a new build.

Something imo what was common for everyone back in Beta. Back then there weren't that many people playing and you couldn't trade. So finding some fine unique was amazing.

Yes, SSF puts a damper on a ton of T1 builds, but also on a good deal of quirlky builds that require a unique or two to function properly.
But, it also will make you to THINK (like in the past) on how to cover your build's weaknesses with ascendancies and keystones.
Going CI and can't guarantee yourself eye of chayula? Well, pff, just pick unwavering stance! Or make a different char first and then farm merciless izaro for that "avoid stuns" boot enchant.
And IF you manage to find a build-enabling (remember that word?) unique - you can just put it in your SSF stash and make a char for it later.

And right off the bat I can think of a whole lot of builds that work perfectly well as life-based (pretty much a requirement for a first time SSF char) with rare items only - spellcasters!
They don't depend on getting a good weapon drop, only on gem levels. A good spell will last you even on a 4L, and it's piss-easy to get a 5L these days even solo (lvl4 vorici 150 fus, or farm jungle valley for flora's gift card that gives a 5L staff).
Edit: hell, you can farm yourself a 6L tabula relatively easy in a4 cruel already!
Current crafting recipe and master crafting systems ensure that you can customise yor gear to a good extent.

I'm actually somewhat looking forward to this mode.

yup.
My only issue is that they probably will not remove vendor gem buying.
If you don't have access to all game from get go aside from very few you plan completely differently.

So you will be happy to hear that there will be some change to gem vendors. Chris said on reddit that they will "solve this problem in a particular way". Speculations are that the new characters seen in the X-box announcement staying where Nessa was is a gem vendor of some type.

It might be introduced already in 2.6, but I believe it is more likely to come with 3.0 later on.

Well my issue is that you get those gems at all.
Back before that you got them from quests only aside from finding them on your own.

That was imo perfect balance between fun and just another cog in your gameplay.

Though imo my biggest gripe currently with PoE is that since they increased pack sizes 2 years ago game is basically AoE the game. Single target spells don't matter anymore aside from few bosses.

PoE is too hard, so I am glad they will dumb it down for consoles. Who likes doing research outside the game, spending time trading, spamming crafting stones until you get the result you want?

Not even sure if entirely :troll:

Seems we are on complete opposite part of spectrum of what we want from PoE. You want some grindy MMO like game (but with no party) and I want a fun D2 level experience where I wasn't fucked over by the game at every step for not having specific gems, uniques or links.
Everything they added to PoE so far has made the game better. You might miss times when you grinded even more but I don't. I switched to playing Grim Dawn instead.

What I want is easier access to good items without trading. Currently you either get super lucky, or make 2 builds that can grind end game bosses (ED or EQ ) and go farm bosses that drop items you want. Forget about having fun without first grinding for 1000h. Yea fun, fun is for fools LOL

Even with trading and not going all in market specialist you can forget about many expensive uniques like Skyforth, Disfavor and others.

PoE has lots of cool build options, unfortunately most are locked behind a 1000h grind (or RMT which I am sure many are using including some streamers that have 100s of ex although they never (or rarely) get any whispers to sell stuff while streaming lol).

I still consider D2 by far the better aRPG. And I will probably try that Path of Diablo at one point when it is more mature. And if I can summon willpower to fuck around trying to fix all the problems Diablo 2 has on modern windows.

Yesterday we mentioned that we're holding a Press Tour next week in California! This was correctly interpreted as implicit confirmation that we'll be announcing some big new content quite soon. As you guys love announcements of announcements, today's news post goes into more detail on what dates you can expect to hear more information!

We're holding a press tour on the week of February 6-10. During this week, we're going to show dozens of media outlets an exclusive look at the upcoming content that we have been working on. So far our press schedule is the busiest it has ever been, as Path of Exile is more popular than it has ever been before.

With the help of these journalists, we will announce our long-awaited 3.0.0 expansion on Tuesday, February 14 (US time). Two days later, on Thursday the 16th, we will announce full details of our upcoming 2.6.0 challenge league, which will begin on Friday March 3 (US time). The release date of 3.0.0 is currently not decided, but it's likely that the Beta will start at some stage during the second half of the 2.6.0 challenge league.

We've been working on this 3.0.0 content since we released The Awakening in 2015 and are really looking forward to sharing it with you.

14 February - they will show 3.0
03 March - new league start and SSF option

Personally i am betting they will rework a lot Act1 aside from Act5

SSF doesn't really matter if there's no associated increase in drop rates. You can already choose to play the cookie cutter meta budget build without trading (or bothering to pay attention to gear or keep your eyes open) if you want to. I want SSF so I don't have to spend 50% of my 'play' time trading if I want to see all the content. This does nothing to fix that. Like half the endgame content pretty much requires trading (or playing for literally 20x longer) to even access, let alone win.

Anyways, even that isn't my biggest gripe with the game, which is that it's basically a fucking slot machine at this point. Walk forward while everything dies with no skill involved, until you explode from something you had no control over. Woo. That's not going to ever change because they're catering to people that think disconnecting is a valid defense mechanism.
