You mean Starcraft has anything other ot offer, expect an over hyped RTS game? 40K may have its flaws, and indeed it has many, but in the end there are 7 editions, specialist games, hundreds of books, a movie a ton of video games (of varied quality, albeit DoW is magnificent).

Nah mang, I wasn't comparing the two. But Gee Dub has been on a serious fucking decline for years now. We've gone from Marneus Coolguy and the Ultramans, to the assfucking of Necron fluff, and now the total sacking of Fantasy Battles for this Age of Sigmar autism. And let's face it -- most of those products you've mentioned are total shite (you REALLY want to hold up the Ultramarines "movie" as an example of the HEALTH of the property?) As I said, I'm a huge huge 40k fag and I wish GW stopped trying to ruin the setting I adore so much.

Also, StarCraft is a phenomenal game, silly lore aside. It's just really not comparable to 40k as a setting in ANY appreciable way -- not in depth, or breadth, or anything else.
I agree WK40k lore is deeper and better but Starcraft is still better known name in the world due to Blizzard being such a well known gaming giant.

Starcraft games have earned more money than whole 40k in its whole history and I am pretty sure Starcraft brand is way more known in the world that WH40k.

The rest about quality of each setting is your opinion.

I'd like some proof of that. Given the ammount of products and decades of existing, I'd say that 40K leaves SC far, far in the dirt, but ok - prove me wrong.

As for the quality, it's really about what you like more - space rednecks or space nazis. I'll go with nazis.
StarCraft Series
StarCraft (including Brood War expansion) 9,500,000 $437,000,000
Starcraft II : Wings of Liberty / Heart of the Swarm / Legacy of the Void 8,600,000 $542,500,000
http://www.statisticbrain.com/blizzard-entertainment-statistics/

Now you find some revenue numbers for WH40k (also these above numbers don't count in all the other stuff like figurines, Tabletop games and others).

Also wiki says: "As of December 2010, the game has sold nearly 4.5 million units"
so probably those numbers above are not even big enough. I doubt with two expansion it only sold additional 4 mil in 6 years when it sold 4.5 in first 6 months. Especially since both expansions sold more than 1 mil in first 24h.

I don't really get what the hell has been GW doing during the last few years, unless they've been trying to ruin themselves on purpose. From the insane model prices to the age of shitmar ruining the fantasy setting... a toddler with a coin would be a better at decisions than they are.

Blizzard will just continue spewing its cartoony faggotry desgined to make the players feel awesome about themselves, a sure way to success these days.

How reliable are these numbers? For SC2 this would mean an average revenue of $63 per copy, which seems unlikely, even with Blizzard prizing and lots of direct sales on their own store.

40k is a 100M per year business.

Find numbers. I doubt it. Also these above numbers is only revenue from copies sold (and I think it does not cover both digital and physical ones) with everything else.

How much of that 100M goes to Games Workshop and how much is just other people using their world?
Because if you use latter then Starcraft has lots of merchandise that is sold in big numbers.

Also this beats anything ever made for WH40K:

100M is just the revenue of GW, additional revenues for companies which license the IP aren't included.

Still it strikes me unlikely that Blizzard has a revenue of $63 per copy sold. That's more than their Deluxe Edition costs.

I agree, the UM movie wasn't good, but it was entertaining in this "so bad that it's good" kind of way. AoS and the canning of WFB is the biggest shit show that GW ever managed to do. Closing down the specialist games (which they'll be bringing up again, but that's not important right now. The damage is done) was also a dumb, fucking move. GW is making some very good stuff, but in the last few years it seems that they're constatntly shooting themselves in the foot with a Boltgun.

Damn, forgot about the championships... I know, when someone else is right and I'm wrong, so I'll give this one to you. Kudos for the research.

Starcraft 1 lore is actually pretty great but whatever, you didn't play it or read the manual and you just try to fit in.

Oh boy if somebody did "Fall of Tarsonis" ecranisation or RPG:bounce:

"My friends, this is our final hour. Not all of us may survive the coming conflict. Yet, death may be a blessing should we fail here. We seek now to destroy a foe that has ravaged its way across the universe consuming all in its path. And now it has reached the end of its long journey. The Overmind has come to destroy all that we hold dear and assimilate us into itself. And I say to thee, this shall not come to pass! Aiur shall not fall! Executor, I stand ready!"

It’s our duty—hell, it’s our calling—to liberate them creds to where they could do something that really mattered.
Like buying us drinks, women, and steak dinners.
That’s a good start.

"Openworld sandbox action RPG" now that's lots of red flags in one description, but it still looks good.

Third class still super secret - I think it will be a psyker.

They also will have "seasons" and release on consoles.

Still not sold on the persistent online MP and seasons, I just don't have time for that. I hope the SP is no afterthought.

Black Library should be paying US to read some of the utter shite they publish.

Looks completely boring and blunt. A shame that the only thing WH40K is used to is Space Marines and big shoulder pads powerarmor...
