Recommend the highest of classical high fantasy cRPGs or near enough subgenres

I was browsing Gog today, what with the Black Friday sales on combined with me being in between games at the moment. I felt like buying something high fantasy. Something really high fantasy in that classical sense of bonkers spells, bonkers creatures and outlandish loot, preferably in a game with so much colour variation it makes a rainbow look dark and moody.

I've just come off playing a triple dose of Vogel with Avernum 1, Geneforge 1 and Avadon 1, so no Vogel please, and, as a result, something with much, much, much more pleasing eye appeal and music would be apt.

No IE games please, it's not a replay those kind of mood. No King's Bounty, same issue of it not being time enough to replay those again. Same with Age of Wonders/HoMM. Same for nothing NWN. And don't even think about typing anything Dragon Age, this isn't a decline thread (hopefully).

It doesn't have to be a modern game, but anything DOSboxey likely wont meet the eye/ear appeal agenda, unless its more HoMM1 than Ultima1. Also, not in a blobber mood, so no Wizardry, M&M, Xulima etc. Preferably nothing First Person full stop.

Also, preferably no jRPGs, but if I can't find a wRPG then I might be tempted, but nothing real-time or grind-based pls.

Preferably made prior to 2014 and/or with a recommended requirement of 1GB or less mbRAM.

Preferably RPG, but any other genre if my criteria have completely stumped you but you know a good strategy/roguelike/action/adventure/sim which would fit the bill etc. Squad tactics would be my first choice of subgenre.

I'm looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (that's Japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (that's Japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (Korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i don't want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)

Torchlight?
Ultima 4 -7?
Dungeon Siege/mods?
Freedom Force? Colourful, bonkers abilities, weird enemies but not really high fantasy.

Oh Nox might do an all.

Grab Stonekeep, dungeon crawler with square-grid movement, with real-time combat system being the only drawback.

Anyone would think you're asking a specialist question on a specialist forum... Bento Box forum is that'a way... twat.

Oh Nox might do an all.

fukken was abouta say that

Yeah, I remember looking that up last year during a gap and taking suggestions. It's full-on aRPG which is the only thing holding me back, as in real-time, Diablo inspired, but not in a DivDiv way as its very corridor, including character creation which isn't even very Diablo. It's definitely a possibility, so thanks for reminding me about that one.

Thanks for the suggestions so far on the others, including Stonekeep, I'll look into them later, when hopefully there's some more suggestions and I can binge research when in the mood.

Torchlight - 2009 Diablo Clone. Not a fan of Diablo.
Ultima 4 -7 - 1985, 1988, 1990, 1992, the latter ones look tempting.
Dungeon Siege/mods - 2002. This game has never appealed to me.
Freedom Force - Not classical high fantasy
Nox - 2000 Diablo Clone, but enemies don't respawn in the single player campaign, so very tempting.
Stonekeep - First person.
dark sun - 1993 D&D game, looks fun, thanks for highlighting it. Maybe one day.
Chaos Gate - Not classical high fantasy, it's Warhammer.
Invisible Inc. - Not classical high fantasy.
Adom - 1994, roguelike apparently. Possibly one day, but doesn't meet the OP's criteria with regards to something a bit more produced.
Rage of Mages - 1998 kinda funny looking RPG, they sure like the colour brown. Possibly one day, in a different mood.

Hmmm, Ultima 7 or Nox...

Definitely Ultima 7. Haven't played NOX but U7 is to this day my favorite game. The combat sucks but everything else (exploration, great NPC's/companions, interesting story, the world feels fleshed out, unique spell system and more) is fekkin wizard. Best of all it has one of the most legendarily good sequels of all: Ultima 7 Part Two The Serpent Isle. Get it!

PS
As far as "highest of classical high fantasy" goes- get ready to be fluent in ye olde english as imagined by a guy from Texas.
Thou art warned.
Fare thee well!

Ultima 7 is a must play, really. One of the games where you can clearly see where TES was taking their ideas from. NOX is still pretty cool, but it's more of an arpg... A very good one though. I've ended up liking Nox and Torchlight more than Diablo, weird.

If you're down for Nox, you might consider Divine Divinity and if that works for you maybe Siege of Avalon or Prince of Qin.

You, kind sir, want Divinity: Original Sin, followed by other parts of Divinity series (less colorful, less bonkers spells, and worse gameplay, but superior writing and much better humour).

Divine Divinity - I was going to include that in the OP but forgot, been there a couple of times and Beyond + 2 etc.
Divinity: Original Sin - see above & DivOS is slightly above the 1gb mbRAM limit...
Revenant - If it respawns as ERYFKRAD suggests, then that's a no for me I'm afraid.
Realms of Arkania HD - 1992, Dark Eye. Looks good at first glance, but the deathly slow version of turn-based action plus Dark Eye's reputation for combat in games does put me off.

I've bought Nox and am currently in Chapter 4. No deaths all game except for one complete dumb of walking in a fireplace with no enemies around, then suddenly 10 deaths in a row facing off against the Necromancer for the first (?) time. It's turning into a platformer/aRPG hybrid, quite surprisingly interesting. I am going to have to play Ultima 7 at some point, both parts, I'll save that for when I'm in the mood for some serious concentration and after working out whether I'd like to play earlier ones first or not.

That's what you get for using "preferably" - the OP effectively describes this game.

Yes, that's what you get when you mention a game that wouldn't be my preference. The OP effectively describes an awful lot of games.
