Yea , and from this point forward Impersonate is all over Assassin questline , tho often tied with charisma ( or streetwise ) in one check . My favorite social skill for boatman

can anyone recommend a build to go through the game as an Assassin?
One of the best: strength/dex 10, cha 8, start with 5 daggers, 2 dodge, 3/4 crit, persuasion/streetwise/disguise 2. After Teron: daggers 8, dodge 4, crit 6, disguise 4/5. And in Ganezar you need streetwise 5(or 6) for the last fun talky skillcheck.

Im looking for a way to access healing machine ( in maadoran ) and become aurelian praetor i guess thieves is the only path ( not sure if even possible too ) , just wanted to make sure before i commit to this playtrough

Assassin and Merchant can side with Lorenza at some point thus getting access to the machine but at the cost of Gaelius death

Iirc, only thieves, assassins and merchants get access to the broken healing machine.

Any character with the right skills can become an aurelian praetor, but daratan praetor can milk the most sp out of their main path beforehand I think.

I actually killed Gaelius and destroyed Maadoran afterwards to achieve my goal 0_o .
Which was to ascend , my build only had enough stats for 6 con at the start so i needed 2 machines and insted of becoming praetor of house aurelian i destroyed maadoran to get AlAkia quest ( 4/8/6/8/10/4 build loremaster-TG-work with meru-god )

Its all was easier than it looked before i started :
You just follow the quest line , steal the jar for Levir ( also you need Lore 5 at this point ) , after killing Gaelius , Levir will invite you to the sewers where you can kill him and use the machine , after that just go back to Maadoran as if nothing happened , go to Abyss and explode the city , i didnt expect to be walking around Maadoran after i killed my guild leader , oh well )

Finally finished the Assassin's questline in Teron. /salute you all
The last Assassin mission is one of my favourite moments in Age of Decadence (and that says something). The atmosphere is superb and the characters seem to be made from flesh and blood (especially the latter *wink* *wink*).

Assassin gets least of the main plot but critical strike dialogue and epic fights make up for it tenfold, also it has plenty of choices and backstabing possibilities , my favorite and most replayed background

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
how do you git gud with ranged build?

i started a new character which is a praetor with stats:

5 7 5 7 8 8

so far:

dodge 4
bow 4
etiquette 3
persuasion 4
streetwise 4
crafting 3

and others 0.

what should i do to not suck in ranged combat? my previous combat characters use melee (dagger + crits + poison + dodge for my assassin and gladius + shield + crafting for mercenary)

this is also my second hybrid diplomacy + fighting character. i keep getting killed because enemies get near me and always lose an AP because i have to keep walking away + their counter attack. it is hard to fight in enclosed space, and even at wide area, enemies keep catching up and surround me.

my previous melee characters were great and i'm already used to their general styles and strategy. ranged combat is new to me, so can i have any help?

you have low AP, you can't go first, low strength low damage from bows... not high enough perception thus you cant crit through enemy armor. how the hell did you expect to win?
no matter what you do, if you want to fight, always raise dexterity to 10, and minmax other stats

Never tried a bowman, but I kinda doubt ranged builds are well suited for hybrids in general. Even with crossbows and the bolter, your SP would probably be spread too thin to make it work properly.

Use Hand Crossbow , it allows you to attack from melee range ( you can still use it on this build , the difference between 5 in Bows or 4 Bow 4 Crossbow will be 10 Skill points and your crossbow skill will boost your bow rating too )

As makiavelli mentioned DEX is main stat for hybrid combat build, you want to have 8 , 9 or 10 depending on the weapon you use and AP cost of the weapon .
Dont put 5 Str 5 Con , either go 4/4 or 4/6 or 6/4 , i personally think that if you go for Crit Damage then 4 str , also you can always use alchemy to compensate for low STR .
5 Str is only good for climbing in Teron and as Praetor you wont have to do any of it .
Charisma either 7 or 9 , there are no uses for CHA 8

My usual ranged Builds are 4/10/4/10/8/4 or 4/10/6/8/8/4 or 4/8/6/10/8/4 or 4/9/4/10/9/4

Basically with a dodge build if you want to fight a lot in teron you will need 6 CoN , if you are fine with not killing everyone in teron 4 CON and you will still be able to murder every combat encounter in Maadoran . Rest of the Stats you spread on DEX/PER/INT , i always go for atleast 8Per 8 Int , as that opens up a lot of opportunities

Also use consumbales , i always end my playtroughs with stash full of stuff i should have used to make my life easier . However consumables are best used with very high dex and one handed dodge builds .

Your praetor build can just continue as Diplomat , you should be able to talk your way trough

Also if you go 7 DEX to use with Praetorian Armor then might as well start with 8 because Praetors can get Lightened Iron Praetor Armor in two Teron encounters , one you can loot from Sohrab's Escort , other you get after finishing your quest line in Teron

Charisma 7 Seems to be the breaking point for all the Charisma training ( Feng , Dellar , Antidas , Lucius for TG and some more later in the game ) also it opens you most of charisma tied conversation paths in Maadoran ( if not all of them , cant be sure about this tho as their mostly scattered trough different quest lines)

(For abyss explorers , you either need 8 Per 8 INT or 7 Cha 7 Per 7 Int and kill cassius for feng )

Charisma 9 is requirement for great scam of the chosen one which is a something you either choose to go for from the start or ignore and go with lower CHA

Other than that it will mostly be [Streetwise][Charisma] or [Persuasion][Charisma] checks that check the sum of CHA and speech skill those mostly can be passed with any Charisma score

7 Charisma can be really good imo , however in Praetor Quest line you can go Diplomat Route without any CHA and you wont have many problems .

I see. Is charisma that useless?
from my old post
You'll have to prove it to me with an example
ok, assassin's questline
10/10/4/8/4 vs 10/10/4/4/8
vignette: no def.
1st quest: needs persuasion 4 vs 2 to get reports
2nd: disguise 4 vs 0 to convince guards
3nd: none
4: impossible for 1st build to get to the Temple without a fight, for 2nd - disguise 4
5: none
6: disguise 6 vs streetwise 5 or streetwise 7 vs streetwise 3 or streetwise 5 vs persuasion 4
7: persuasion 6 vs streetwise 5

so, its something like disguise 5 streetwise 5 persuasion 6 vs disguise 4 streetwise 5 persuasion 2
+65 SP for charisma build for the basically same result
int bonus 20%..... I think its about +20-25 SP for whole AG
i don't remember much about training bonuses though
plus you need charisma for better ending

There is no gain to increase CHA to 8 from 7 , none . Im yet to find a Charisma check that i cant pass with 7 but could with 8 ( not counting checks that take sum of CHA and some skill as you can always increase the skill instead )
