Is Darn really needed anymore? Bethesda changed how they do UI on a fundamental level for Skyrim, and Darn's work was pretty much done for Oblivion-New Vegas anyway.

Nonetheless, I think I will use Revelation UI. I can't stand the vanilla UI art style.
Apparently there is a way to use both http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42483/?.
Well, will you look at that!

Also DalekFlay I initially thought you were drunk after having missed reading Gord's and Perkel's post. Turns out the only thing wrong with your post was that you misspelled 'UI'.

I don't use FOOK so I can't say much about it but those other mods should work fine. However, I think you should check MTUI/Interface mods & Project Nevada compatibility, since Project Nevada includes some new UI/HUD elements, so AFAIK you need some compatibility patch.

I found this great mod for F3 and I'm wondering if there's a New Vegas equivalent, though i'm really only looking for a mod that replicates its "automatic administration of drugs under player-defined conditions" feature. Anyone know?

I may do a similar one for Skyrim.

OK chobbes I looked over your mod list and you're missing quite a few mods which I consider either essential or to be great improvements to the base game. Here's a list:

Additionally, I have Boom to the Moon and Beyond Boulder Dome installed, but I haven't tried them out so I can't tell you if they're worth installing or not.

I'd try that out if you'd make a torrent of all these mods.
At the moment, have no intention to do one. Though I must admit that the fastest way to replicate my exact modlist will be to copy my entire Mod Organizer directory to another computer.

All mods are downloadable from Nexus. Some may even have been updated further, making it more feature complete and more stable.

All of my mods are designed to work in harmony, each mod improves upon one specific niche in the game so there is no overlapping or redundant mods. All this adds to greater strategic depth and overall flavour to the game.

I think you're really looking for this website: https://www.youtube.com/

Don't quite understand what you meant.
What i quoted sounds like what ~~youtube stars~~ say at the end of their videos. rate comment subscribe, that bullshit.
Have absolutely no intention to sound like that, it's just my way of expressing myself :)

Just wanted to share and report my mod research which is the fruit of countless hours spent vetting through all the mods.

I will look through your next post that details your recommended mods and reply to you in a more comprehensive manner later today. Thanks.

The major self-imposed constraint is that I can only select exactly 100 mods.
Therefore I will definitely not be able to take in all mods that may offer "value", value being in the eye of the beholder.

Mod selection is essentially a question of value judgement, since there is no absolutely quantifiable factor that decides what is in or out.
That is why I came up with my 5 Mod Criteria rules (see my previous post #58) , that I will abide by, when making the call.

Mods must obey the game's own logic and be consistent with its universe. I wanted to play FNV as it should have been.
Mods must add tangible value, however small, to the game, based on my own judgement calls.
Mods must adhere as closely to the base game as possible, essentially making it Vanilla v2.0 (this is my bottom line)

Generally speaking, based on my selection philosophy, my mods will not have new levels, new locations, new companions, new monsters, new items, new weapons or armor (save for a few exceptions).

Now with that in mind, please see my replies (in brackets) to your mods enclosed in the spoiler below.

Graphical Tweaks:
BLIND - Borderlands Inspired Numeric Damage (I've never seen this mod previously, it doesn't seem to add much value)
DYNAVISION (I don't find it necessary for my graphical enjoyment)
Enhanced Blood Textures (I play the game with blood turned off, so skipped this mod)
EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements (lags my game during heavy laser battles)
New Vegas Enhanced Camera (I used Centered 3rd Person camera)
NMC's Texture Pack for New Vegas (I used Poco Bueno and other minor texture packs)
SmoothLight - Pip-Boy Light Enhancer (I used Brighter Larger Radius Pip-Boy Light)
Vault 22 Flora Overhaul (too specific to one location, remember I can only have 100 mods, mods should have global impact)
Enhanced Shaders ENB (I don't use ENB cos of lag, see my Mod Criteria Rule No. 3)

Gameplay Tweaks
Advanced VATS and Fixed AutoAim and Improved Binoculars (I've never seen this mod previously)
CASM with MCM (I use quicksave and manual saves with no issues)
JIP Selective-Fire (good choice, can consider using)
New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open (I heard that it may cause CTDs or lag the game, I'm not taking any chances with only 100 mods)
The Strip Open (I heard that it may cause CTDs or lag the game, I'm not taking any chances with only 100 mods)
Realistic Weapon Damages (Project Nevada has some of its features I believe, my mods should not have overlapping features)
Sprint Mod (Project Nevada has some of its features I believe, my mods should not have overlapping features)
Wear Glasses with Masks and Bandannas (probably a good choice if your char uses masks and bandannas, I don't)

NPC Tweaks
New Vegas Redesigned 3 (I used Fallout Character Overhaul)
A Better Cass (too specific, wastes 1 previous mod slot, I don't use companions)
A Better Veronica (too specific, wastes 1 previous mod slot, I don't use companions)
A Better Boone (too specific, wastes 1 previous mod slot, I don't use companions)
Authentic Burned Man (too specific, wastes 1 previous mod slot, I don't use companions)
Light Step ED-E (too specific, wastes 1 previous mod slot, I don't use companions)
Hectrol ED-E Deluxe HR Retex EVOLUTION PACK (too specific, wastes 1 previous mod slot, I don't use companions)
Improved Cyberdogs Textures (I used The Book of Flesh and The Book of Steel as retex)
Improved Robots Textures (I used The Book of Flesh and The Book of Steel as retex)
Improved Super Mutants Textures (I used The Book of Flesh and The Book of Steel as retex)
Improved Deathclaw Textures (I used The Book of Flesh and The Book of Steel as retex)

Armor Mods
Caesars New Regime (not lore-friendly, armor looks weird, not to my taste)
Colossus t49xv (never came across this previously)
Gas Masks of the World (my rule - Vanilla v2.0- no new armor)
Drag's New Armor Pack (my rule - Vanilla v2.0- no new armor)

Weapon Mods
Classic Fallout Weapons (I used Fallout 3 Weapons Restoration)
Cowboy Repeater without Peep Sight (too specific to one weapon only)
Weapon Mods Expanded (Gun Runner Arsenal provides weapons mods, will suffice)
Homemade Grenades (my rule - Vanilla v2.0- no new weapons)

Sound Mods
Ambient Wasteland 2 (I've tried this before, the new SFX are too distracting and doesn't add to atmosphere, IMO)
ED-E The Random Sounds (too specific to one companion and I don't use companions)

Additional Content:
Warzones (it has the potential to lag the game, I'm not taking any chances)
Monster Mod and Monster Mod Additions (it has the potential to lag the game, I'm not taking any chances, also see my rule - Vanilla v2.0 - no new monsters)
More Perks (there's more than enough perks to choose from in the game)
New Vegas Bounties I and New Vegas Bounties II (my rule - Vanilla v2.0 - no new levels or locations)
The Courier's Cashe (my rule - Vanilla v2.0 - no new levels or quests)
Fallout - Project Brazil (my rule - Vanilla v2.0 - no new levels or locations)
RTS - Real Time Settler (maybe a good choice if you wanna play FNV for a long time)

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've only a few comments to make:
New Vegas Enhanced Camera (I used Centered 3rd Person camera)

The two can be used in tandem. NVEC only modifies the first person viewpoint.

NMC's Texture Pack for New Vegas (I used Poco Bueno and other minor texture packs)

They do not retexture the same stuff, i.e. they can be used together.

New Vegas Redesigned 3 (I used Fallout Character Overhaul)

I use both together.

They do not overlap.

In my view you're needlessly limiting yourself when you only use 100 mods. The game can handle about 134 ESMs and ESPs in your load order without affecting the game, and that's only for mods that require ESPs or ESMs. In other words, retexture mods and other mods which don't require ESMs or ESPs have no drawbacks. Finally, your criteria for excluding several of my recommended mods -- that they have the potential to cause lag -- is arbitrary given that several of your mods have just as much potential (flora overhaul, texture packs, nevada skies, FCO), if not more, to induce lag. Furthermore just because they have the potential to cause a loss of framerate doesn't actually mean they do.

Of the mods listed in the Additional Content section, I really only think Warzones is a must-have, since it really transforms the wasteland into an unstable region caught in the midst of a multitude of warring factions. Without it, it seems unnaturally calm for what it is supposed to be.

I used DFB Random Encounters instead of Warzones.

Yeah I may be unnecessarily harsh against some mods but not others. I didn't have the time to properly test some mods for potential lag cos some issues may only pop up late into the game. I don't wish to restart the game again just because one troublesome mod crashed my saves 80 hours into the play through.

Pleased to have met you, someone who takes time and effort to research the promising mods. The codex is certainly a good platform to share such niche interests.

Are the texture packs really worth it? Or should I just go with a good lighting mod and use the ENB shader?

Just an update: I found a mod called The Medical Injection System which does what I'm looking for in New Vegas. I also found an alternative to VAPS, PIMP - Pip-Boy Integrated Medical Package Mk VI, which only does the auto drug injecting.

Are the texture packs really worth it? Or should I just go with a good lighting mod and use the ENB shader?

NMC's pack is probably the most important texture pack IMO.

Only tried a couple mods so far, really like 'Nevada Skies' so far.<3

EDIT: Wanted to try out a couple more mods, which necessitated downloading various other mod-related utilities and I came to the conclusion that I HATE THIS FUCKING SHIT!

after years of modding i came to only few ones that are essential. Rest are usually crap or they get boring really fast.

Ui
- DarnUI - fixes horrible PC ui and fixes font size aka more lines in dialog visible at once
- Dynamic Crosshair - changes according to spread value. (bit harder to install than traditional mods)

General gameplay
- SPECIAL overhaul - makes every point count
- hardcore values doubled
- hazardous radiation - fixes weak radiation
- more perks

Locations
- TTW - yeah F3 story is shitty as well as quests but you can always go there and kill everyone
- NV interiors

Weapons
- EVE & IMPACT - changes visual FX side of shooting guns. Especially impact is fun (lot of particles)
- Realistic bullet speed. Fixes weapon bullet speed
- Weapon Retexture Project - improves a lot textures for weapons
- improved guns sounds - fucking amazing mod

Enemies
- XFO enemy AI - fixes dumb enemy AI. They will now try and hide or use stimpacs if they have them
- Enemy use ammo
- companions use ammo
- companions de-equipable

What those changes do...
- Gunplay thanks to EVE, IMPACT, new sounds and realistic bullets feels way better and more fun.
- Enemies no longer are ultra retarded. They are just retarded they also use ammo so you can wait out their bigger guns.
- special overhaul, radiation, more perks, double hardcore values improves gameplay without changing it.
- UI is mostly fixed
- TTW gives second world to kill everything in it.

It's incredibly buggy and unbalanced. The guy that made it simply deleted references to the characters in the game. Be careful if you use it. You need to use a couple other mods to make it enjoyable really.
