There are people who are surprised that the combat is still just as shitty?

Well it appears to me that dodging is simply the better variant of dodge-rolling for evading sweeping melee attacks because it has a quicker recovery time and gives you the opportunity to land a counterattack, whereas the dodge roll is meant for evading big area of effect hits like fireballs or the crushing attack of that stone golem.

Only because some lousy youtube clown is spamming the dodgeroll button doesnt mean its a good way to fight.

But yes, a stamina system would have done the combat a big favour.

I'm kind of bummed out, that they put Cyberpunk 2077 on hold, in order to finish The Fitcher 3.

I kind of want a new SCI-FI RPG moar than another fantasy inspired action medieval RPG.

Oh well. Keeling monsterz wit big swords n shit is fun.

I don't get this either.

While I agree that the system is not great and can be exploited super easy, at least it works and achieves a somewhat fluid combat (even if not Darksiders fluid).
And what do you do with a working system? Exactly. Nothing major.

The Witcher games were always action games with some stat influence and some C&C. Nothing wrong with that.
Why people keep on expecting the game to suddenly change the genre to cRPG is slightly beyond me.

Could an english/polish speaker tells me his opinion on the dubbing in Witcher2? I'm tempted to play the game again with Polish voiceover for maximum kurwa immersion, but first i'ld like the confirmation that the voice acting is good.
Even if I dont understand shit except siema pl & kurwa, it's very important.
It's very good in both 1 and 2.

Should have removed rolling altogether. It's stupid that you can roll faster than you can run. People will roll around city.

Dodging seems to be usable to get behind someone closer than with rolling, so it's not completely useless, despite rolling. But why leave rolling at all?

W2 combat had a lot of issues, it was floaty with no feel of weight behind Geralt's attacks, (semi) randomness of attacks that had too long animations and would leave you exposed, overpowered rolling, targeting and hit box issues etc. now I still prefer it to the first one's combat because it's more involved and dynamic but fluid it ain't, they just didn't do such a great job of conveying the fact that Geralt is a master fencer (which is a separate issue from difficulty/challenge, the game's still fairly easy).

When a simple mod (Rise of the Sword) can improve the base combat a great deal, you'd expect professional devs to able to do the same in a high-budget sequel.

The Witcher games were always action games with some stat influence and some C&C. Nothing wrong with that.

Nonsense, people are well aware what genre the game belongs to (they're not expecting an isometric turn-based RPG), they just want better 3d person action combat (which like any type of gameplay can range from bad to good) that improves upon the previous titles in the series.

Mind you, from the videos I've seen combat does look better than W2 for me (inclusion of dodge, signs more fluidly incorporated into the combat, shorter/faster attack animations from Geralt, shorter stun duration when someone blocks his attacks, more gore and better sound effects etc.) though I can't know for sure until I play it myself. It looked better in official gameplay demonstrations compared to first impressions from youtube celebs but those people would make any game look terrible.

Combat looks like shit Witcher 2..

Doesn't matter.. I never play these games for the combat.. I endure it to enjoy the story / setting / dialogue / writing.. Witcher is the last Fantasy game setting that hasn't gone full retard with Witch Demon Dragon God Things and Ninja Wizards firing their staffs while spinning around doing back flips..

Or Athiest Jesus Protagonists disproving gods during American Colonization Era written by Edgy Hipsters :smug:

Combat looks worse than W2 tbh. From what I've seen it's even more floaty and jumpy and platformy. And with all the CDPR talk about how they wanted to "open up" the Witcher franchise to "new players" I wouldn't draw my conclusion about back flipping ninja wizards too soon.

I think their existing cast of Lesbomancers does that job just fine, even without backflipping.

I don't really get the point of these interviews because the interviewer just sets up softball questions that act more like segues for the CDPR guys to start talking marketing bollocks.
Seems you understand the point quite well.

Watch from 4:10. Combat system is still roll spamming. It looked nice on official gameplay videos, when CDPR wanted to show how dodge button works. But why do you need a dodge button when you simply can just roll your way out. Dissapointing.
Well, I was already losing interest in this, so I guess that's....

This only happened in TW2 when you got the 2nd upgrade. It looked shitty too, because the animation wasn't made for covering such long distance.

People really need to stop substituting "Witcher" with "Bitcher"

"The Bitcher" is a real pornographic CYOA flash game parody of the original Witcher, and using the titles interchangeably will only cause confusion.

It's a good moron detector, let them keep using it.

I played The Bitcher. Although it has multiple endings, the lesbians' quest doesn't have any sort of impact or reward. It almost feels like something Bioware would make.

The ebay price is roughly 10 USD cheaper than if you have the 1+2 Witcher discount on GoG.
