What game are you wasting time on?

Not my favourite in the series (I really like RE 4 and 5, though I haven't played 0, 2, 3 or Code Veronica)

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Play them all in the PSX 1/2 emulators ( 0 isn't a mandatory or very important for me. It has interesting semi-coop mode). You will have no glitches or crashes and have a nice options for graphic boost. And find Code Veronica X which is an enhanced version of the original Dreamcast title.

Just finished The Black Mirror II, now it is off to Black Mirror III. Not really expecting much for III though, but I got this whole series for cheep and so far it at least has been enjoyable.

Currently playing through the first Resident Evil again (DualShock version). Should've left it alone - I loved it when I played it for the first time, but now it's barely enjoyable.
Puzzles weren't challenging back then, but now they're too easy to solve. Scripted sequences pose little to no challenge, music is not as captivating as before, and some tracks are just plain shit.

Some codexer complained that Chasm: The Rift have one dimentional level design. And damn he was right. No jumping from cliffs or else, only enormous amount of corners and corridors.
Game feels like Quake.
That would be me, and 2D.
The levels seem to be literally stored as 2D maps, much like the ones in Doom engine games were. Unlike Doom engine you can have stuff like floating platforms and stuff, but also unlike Doom engine there were no attempts to make any effort to circumvent that limitation in Chasm (compare Hexen).

Still, the weapons are fun to use, texturework crisp, special effects impressive, enemies quite diverse and you can blow heads and limbs off to your heart's content - a good game, even if not great.

Unreal Gold
I picked this up on the recent GOG weekend sale. The first thing that stunned me was ofcourse the music (although I prefer A. Brandon's work on Deus Ex just a tiny bit more) and surprisingly the graphics and atmosphere. I remember I could barely run this game when it came out and it looked amazing but the looks still hold up. This game is just full of great visual design. Next came the weapons and enemy encounters. It usually boils down to couple of enemies instead of a dozen but their agility paired with almost every weapon being projectile based (with different trajectories and speeds) including the player's creates an excellent gunplay dynamic. Unfortunately weapons don't feel like they pack a punch, there's just something missing in their firing sounds and animations aren't as explosive as I would like. Level design is interesting but levels seem a lot smaller compared to Doom and secrets (if they can be called that) usually boil down to finding the right place to jump on/from with ocassional puzzle like elements which include switches and inventory items. Other than that, encounters are well designed and force you to use appropriate weapon for the right situation since the ammo is balanced just to be scarce enough. Did I mention the atmosphere of levels? It's amazing!
Currently I'm on ISV-Kran Deck 1

You're lucky, Unreal is one of the best atmosphere-fests to ever exist.

Although I can't agree in regards to levels - some are massive.

The only thing I don't quite agree with is level size. We remember many Doom levels as larger than they actually are, many of them are actually quite small, but they are PACKED with items, enemies, traps and secrets, so they seem larger and longer. Unreal has some very large ones (Sunspire and the citadel are my favourites). That said it's a very different approach to level design. Doom's relies on density of content, lots of enemies, lots of secrets, fast pace. Unreal's relies on heavy atmosphere, encounters are less frequent but individually more tactical due to all the elements you mention, and there's much more a sense of the level being a real place. Not that I think one is better, I love both designs and both games dearly.
Wholeheartedly agreed.
Also, which citadel?

Both are great, 2 + notr is a definite improvement but the first one is worthy as well.

Well, I guess it's like Sceptic said, Doom levels are packed with content. I'm playing on Hard, was thinking that I should've started on Unreal instead but game really picked up on difficulty... I'm still on that same level. Oh and I'm playing this without saving inside levels, really makes the game more tense.

K... KotOR 1

Surprisingly enough, it's less terrible than I remember. Although, my expectations may have been lowered by Bio's later games.
I was craving for some decently-SWish setting with Jedi ass-whooping that's less actiony than Jedi Knight series, and to that extent the game does well enough. The dialogues, on the other hand... And Carth. Jesus fuck.
Still, it does make me wish for a KotOR 3 - just by someone who's got their shit together better than Bioware or Obsidian.

Naturally, I'll be sure to keep you updated when I hit 7th playthrough.

Bros, is it cool to skip Gothic 1 for the sequel. Or are both worthwhile?
I enjoyed Gothic 1 more than the sequel. Definitely play it, then if you want more, play Gothic 2.

I suspect that whatever you do, one of the games will be spoiled a little, depending on which you play first and your playing style. I'm pretty sure NotR was more fun for me because I came to it as a total Gothic noob. The game is designed in such a way that avoiding monsters is a good (and fun) strategy for the first half of the game. When you have to start dealing with monsters a little more is when the game starts getting weaker and less interesting anyway regardless of your playing style. If you want to have max fun with NotR, play that first.

But when I played Gothic 1 after playing through NotR a few times, I did play through it but it didn't impress me much. The challenge and sense of novelty weren't there anymore. I used to get cold shivers from blood flies in G2 but there was obviously nothing terrifying about G1.

Thinking about it more, G2: NotR does seem like a lot better game with a lot more content and perfectly designed maps. I can play it over and over again and it's always a marvel how good it is.

Playing Ass Creed 4, best action pirate simulator ever. Story is so so, assassination missions meh but oh boy sinking ships doesn't get old.

Resident Evil 6. It's really good, except those moments where game switch from core gameplay and try to be a racing simulator or something.
Plot is nothing special, but not too bad by videogame standards either. And I really like how they presented it as 4 parallel intervening campaigns. I can't remember anyone else doing something like that.

Mercenaries are kinda botched. Elements that were supposed to make it fun turned it boring instead. Combo counter forces you to play super conservatively, and +5sec for melee forces you to kill nearly everyone in exactly same way: headshot-melee. Even pure melee is not really an option, because you run out of stamina too fast.

Playing DarkXL version of Star Wars: Dark Forces.
First three levels on Hard made me go :smug:.
Then turrets appeared.
I like this game so far, and it may quite possibly become one of my favourite FPSes of the Doom to Quake era. Not quite as good as Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, but better than Strife, Shadow Warriors and even Quake, IMO.
It really captures that Star Wars feeling too.
Only drawback with the DarkXL version so far is that secondary fire has not been implemented, making the game less tactical than it could be (and grenades more prone to blow up in my face).

In the process of getting FONV up. Done with textures and overhauls for the most part, now getting as many new guns and gun textures in as possible for a proper gun porn experience.

Completed Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Now on to Assault on Dark Athena.

EFBB was a tiring experience. Same environments over and over, same vent crawling, same bloom, lots of shooting where the aiming and mechanics always feel a bit off. Bugger all story, barely any dialogue. Characters seem to magically know what to do without communicating this to each other. Levels are basically escape, get caught, escape again, get caught.
