Note: This update does not cover any Baldur's Gate 2 content and is not connected to the rest of LP storyline-wise. If you are not interested in Pillars of Eternity beta and/or do not want ANY spoilers from that game, feel free to skip it. I will encase all dialogues and other spoilers in additional spoiler tags, if you want to check out the gameplay without seeing the story, although bear in mind that this is a quest-driven game.

Special Update #01: A Glimpse of Eternity

codex_10.jpg
Where am I? Wait... WHO am I?

You are a death-godlike cipher, drifter from Old Vailia.

bg2_up65_001.jpg

You have arrived in village of Dyrford with four of your trusted companions.

codex_10.jpg
Wha-? Companions is hard to believe by itself. TRUSTED companions just does not compute.

bg2_up65_002.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So, my STAM and HLTH are 74, my Acc is 42 and my DT is 9. I don't know what any of these mean.

I like how the game counts time spent in character creation as 'in party' (you can also hear ambient sounds from this location when creating a character).

bg2_up65_003.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, I do look pretty badass, which is what counts the most, I guess.

Born as child of Bhaal, The Codex is obviously a death-godlike. Makes sense, right?

bg2_up65_004.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And you are...?

bb_fighter.jpg
Heh, Greetings.

Do not mind them, they are just placeholders, without any personality.

codex_10.jpg
Okay...

bg2_up65_005.jpg

bb_priest.jpg
Greetings.

codex_10.jpg
Are their stats any good?

I have no idea.

bg2_up65_006.jpg

bb_rogue.jpg
The pleasure is mine.

codex_10.jpg
Why do all these guy have more Stam&Hlth than me?

bg2_up65_007.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seriously, even the wizard.

bb_wizard.jpg
Hello.

bg2_up65_009.jpg

In this update we will be playing on Path of the Damned difficulty. Unfortunately, because of general bugginess of the beta at the moment, I was not able to keep playing at this level, so future updates (if there are any) will be on Normal.

bg2_up65_008.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I guess I'll talk to Medreth, then.

bg2_up65_010.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I must have missed that, but I don't even know how I got here, so...

bg2_up65_011.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Should I know who Crucible Knights are?

Just roll with it.

codex_10.jpg
'k

bg2_up65_012.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Gotta go.

bg2_up65_013.jpg

Aha, new quest! I mean, task.

codex_10.jpg
What's the difference?

Uhm... Quests give more XP...?

bg2_up65_014.jpg

Quest log notes all the additional info (like what we got from the Int check), which is pretty neat.

bg2_up65_015.jpg

We start our adventure by robbing the temple.

codex_10.jpg
I approve.

bg2_up65_016.jpg

Scroll of Protection we picked up changed its name to Fireball in our inventory, although it sill works like protection, it seems.

codex_10.jpg
That's a pretty crucial difference.

bg2_up65_017.jpg

Going to the edge of the map one of the pre-determined map exit points shows us we have access to one additional area, but we will not be going there just yet.

bg2_up65_018.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't remember meeting anyone on the road, or even being on the road, for that matter.

bg2_up65_019.jpg

New quest - yes, a quest!

bg2_up65_020.jpg

Robbing random houses. TAB lets us highlight interest points.

bg2_up65_021.jpg

Alt-tabbing has accidentally put our party into scouting mode (which is a combo of stealth and search, I think) and we found a hidden object (purple shape in the grain).

bg2_up65_022.jpg

Velune is one of (too) many crafting materials in the game.

bg2_up65_023.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I wonder if the missing girl is connected with lack of healthy births...

bg2_up65_024.jpg

Character portraits are PNG files. I do not know if the game supports other formats, but the transparent background I set in The Codex' portrait is actually transparent in the game, which is a nice effect.

bg2_up65_025.jpg

codex_10.jpg
[Clever - Minor] WTF is this shit?

I keep turning these hints off in the options, but they reappear all the time.

bg2_up65_026.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This seems like a rather obvious case. Maybe TOO obvious.

bg2_up65_027.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Broken tower, check.

bg2_up65_028.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Bye then.

bg2_up65_029.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I guess I will have to ask that Trygil guy.

bg2_up65_030.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I never realized pigs knew so much about programming.

bg2_up65_031.jpg

codex_10.jpg
To be honest, I am eager to do that too.

bg2_up65_032.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Not all at once! I can't understand what you're saying!

bg2_up65_033.jpg

codex_10.jpg
FFS, woman what happened to you?

bg2_up65_034.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ouch.

bg2_up65_035.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fragile, got it.

bg2_up65_036.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Tell me more.

bg2_up65_037.jpg

She sells mostly crafting stuff, but also (seriously overpriced) potions.

bg2_up65_038.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Retrieving dragon eggs... Where have I...? Ah, whatever.

bg2_up65_039.jpg

codex_10.jpg
'Dracogen' name sounds like it would suit a corporation from Shadowrun more than an inn in generic fantasy village #14.

bg2_up65_040.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Not a bad looking place but I just can't get used to people not having circles around their feet...

bg2_up65_041.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This must be my next employer.

bg2_up65_042.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Subtle.

bg2_up65_043.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wait, do I want to hire an adventurer?

You do.

bg2_up65_044.jpg

We welcome Lady Meatshield to our party.

codex_10.jpg
Nice face.

12366.jpg
Thank you, and hello.

codex_10.jpg
Ah, she speaks?

12366.jpg
Of course I speak. And who are you and your friends?

codex_10.jpg
My who? Oh, these people? They just keep following me for some reason.

bb_wizard.jpg
Hello.

codex_10.jpg
I'm The Codex, by the way.

12366.jpg
I'm... Lady... Meatshield?

codex_10.jpg
Interesting name.

12366.jpg
Yes, I don't really...

codex_10.jpg
Whatever. Let's move on.

bg2_up65_045.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, this guy's not exactly a mine of information.

12366.jpg
You should look at this from his perspective...

codex_10.jpg
I wasn't talking to you... Forget it.

bg2_up65_046.jpg

12366.jpg
Oh, shall we talk to the bard?

codex_10.jpg
No.

bg2_up65_047.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hollowborn, you say...? As in, people without souls?

bb_fighter.jpg
...

bb_rogue.jpg
...

bb_priest.jpg
...

bb_wizard.jpg
...

bg2_up65_048.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What a dump of a place.

12366.jpg
Is it wise to insult the innkeeper?

codex_10.jpg
Oh, don't worry, he only hears the stuff I tell him in dialogue options.

12366.jpg
Dialogue options?

codex_10.jpg
Oh, come on! Why have you given me an NPC who does not see through the fourth wall?

12366.jpg
Who are you talking to?

codex_10.jpg
AAAARGH!

bg2_up65_050.jpg

bg2_up65_051.jpg

12366.jpg
There's a lot of history in this place.

bg2_up65_052.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I think he's approaching 'tear this place down' stage.

12366.jpg
A desperate parent is capable of terrible deeds.

bg2_up65_053.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I have no idea what you are talking about, and I don't care.

bg2_up65_054.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Maybe if your heavily armed men took care of the ogre threatening the village, they would look more graciously upon you? Have you thought of that?

12366.jpg
It would not hurt, I presume.

bg2_up65_055.jpg

12366.jpg
Have you noticed that missing girls are always beautiful?

codex_10.jpg
Not always. It's just nobody bothers to search for all the others.

bg2_up65_056.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Too many information! I shouldn't have asked.

bg2_up65_057.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Just a thought: what if Aelys did not want to get married in Eina's Rest?

12366.jpg
Are you suggesting she escaped?

codex_10.jpg
Let's not exclude anything for now.

bg2_up65_058.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I regret asking once again.

bg2_up65_062.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And we got some XP for this update. Sweet!

12366.jpg
What's expy?

codex_10.jpg
You'll know in a moment.

bg2_up65_059.jpg

12366.jpg
I feel like talking do Lord Harond has enriched me somehow.

codex_10.jpg
That's XP for you. Let's go upstairs.

bg2_up65_060.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Locked. You there, thief-girl, open it.

bb_rogue.jpg
The pleasure is mine.

12366.jpg
Should we be taking other people's stuff?

codex_10.jpg
It's an obligation of every hero to gain advantage in every way possible, especially when nobody can see it.

bg2_up65_061.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Money and a crappy weapon, so actually money and money.

bg2_up65_063.jpg

12366.jpg
How will we know who is telling the truth?

codex_10.jpg
I have learned that if one solution has more violence in it, then you're probably helping the bad guy.

bg2_up65_064.jpg

12366.jpg
I hope we did the right thing.

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, me too. They looked like they had some nice stuff to loot.

bg2_up65_065.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seems like we're not done yet.

bg2_up65_067.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wow, he actually bought it.

12366.jpg
You seem pretty skilled at lies...

codex_10.jpg
The Codex never lies. Sometimes the true is just very hard to believe.

bg2_up65_070.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seems like we're done with this.

bg2_up65_068.jpg

12366.jpg
That tingling sensation again...

codex_10.jpg
You'll get used to it soon.

bg2_up65_069.jpg

12366.jpg
I feel like listening to your li- ah, deception, has improved my sneaking ability.

codex_10.jpg
Good.

bg2_up65_074.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's check out this ruined tower.

bg2_up65_071.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Nice find, bro.

bb_fighter.jpg
My thanks.

bg2_up65_072.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hmm...

bg2_up65_073.jpg

12366.jpg
Why would they hide a key like that?

codex_10.jpg
Good question.

bg2_up65_075.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Uh, tanneries. I hate tanneries.

bg2_up65_076.jpg

codex_10.jpg
History is not really my thing.

bg2_up65_077.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Write that down, will you?

12366.jpg
I have a good memory.

bg2_up65_078.jpg

codex_10.jpg
'I haven't seen nuthin'. Right.

bg2_up65_079.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now we know where to go.

bg2_up65_080.jpg

codex_10.jpg
My experience tells me that tanneries are good places to hide dark secrets in, because nobody ever wants to inspect them. Because of the stench.

bg2_up65_081.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Looks legit... OH WAIT THERE'S A TRAPDOOR HERE. HOW SURPRISING.

12366.jpg
You may have been right about the dark secret.

codex_10.jpg
I hope it's not as bad as the last one.

bg2_up65_082.jpg

codex_10.jpg
My sixth sense tells me this dungeon has something to do with the missing noble girl.

bg2_up65_083.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Skaenbone...? More crafting shit.

bg2_up65_084.jpg

12366.jpg
Blood!

codex_10.jpg

bg2_up65_085.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Of all the people in the party, it was the rogue who was noticed by murderous giant beetles. How ironic.

bb_rogue.jpg
Mistakes were made.

bg2_up65_086.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Cool that you managed to teleport away, but I think you're still fucked due to poison.

bb_rogue.jpg
I give up.

bg2_up65_087.jpg

bb_fighter.jpg
Lok'tar ogar!

codex_10.jpg
Sure, whatever.

bg2_up65_088.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What? Stamina recovery does not work on unconscious people?

bb_priest.jpg
My apologies.

bg2_up65_089.jpg

bb_fighter.jpg
Well played.

codex_10.jpg
Damn it!

bg2_up65_090.jpg

Your monk-girl fainted. Too much excitement for a first date, I guess.

codex_10.jpg
Where the fuck have you been?

You two seemed to be getting along, I did not want to disturb you.

codex_10.jpg
Why did you give her such a fugly face?

It is the only Aumaua portrait available at the moment.

bg2_up65_091.jpg

bb_priest.jpg
Not quite what was planned.

codex_10.jpg
FUCK!

Maybe you should try mind controlling another beetle? Your PSY points have recovered.

codex_10.jpg
What? Oh, they did!

bg2_up65_092.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Get them Blue Beetle!

bg2_up65_093.jpg

bb_wizard.jpg
My magic will tear you apart!

bg2_up65_094.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck yes!

bg2_up65_095.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh shit, it went hostile again!

bb_priest.jpg
By the Light!

bg2_up65_096.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright, we made it!

Next time: Let me know if you want any more of these special PoE updates, or if you consider the idea terrible. I can do one more, a few more, go through all the beta content, or forget about the thing entirely. Your call. However, if you choose to see more, they will probably only appear after the next patch, because our party got wiped the seventeen times I tried to get through next encounter.

Also, the beetles dropped nothing. :rage:

Regular schedule updates - votes so far:
1. Kuo-Toa [Azira]
2. Illithids [ALchymist]
3. Kuo-Toa [Storyfag]
4. Beholders [Insane Psychic]
5. Beholders [Abelian]
6. Illithids [Darth Roxor]
7. Illithids [Shadenuat] <- actually, no vote ((Shadenuat?)
7. Beholders [Nevill]
8. Beholders [Desmodus Rotundus]
9. Kuo-Toa [Erebus]
10. Beholders [Edward_R_Murrow]

More PoE pls. Keep alternating between BG2 and PoE. You can have PoE be Kodex's visions or something.

I did not want our hero to complain about stuff that is likely to change, but there will be some more comments on mechanics in future updates (if they happen).

You can have PoE be Kodex's visions or something.
My original idea was for The Codex to ascend in ToB and wake up in Dyrford ('what a rip-off'), but since that failed, as reality caught up to update schedule, I do not really care any more about justifying PoE updates narrative-wise.

I wouldn't mind more PoE, but not *too* often. Maybe alternate between 2 BG updates and 1 PoE update?
I will be waiting for at least one more PoE patch before trying to play the beta again. As for BG2, I will update as soon as I have some time to play the game (which has been more and more problematic recently).

EDIT:

Let us roll for it:

1. Kuo-Toa [Azira]
2. Illithids [ALchymist]
3. Kuo-Toa [Storyfag]
4. Beholders [Insane Psychic]
5. Beholders [Abelian]
6. Illithids [Darth Roxor]
7. Beholders [Nevill]
8. Beholders [Desmodus Rotundus]
9. Kuo-Toa [Erebus]
10. Beholders [Edward_R_Murrow]
11. Illithids [Shadenuat]

A roll of 3 means Storyfag has chosen Kuo-Toa for us (with no handicaps).

The second race to die is...:

1. Illithids [ALchymist]
2. Beholders [Insane Psychic]
3. Beholders [Abelian]
4. Illithids [Darth Roxor]
5. Beholders [Nevill]
6. Beholders [Desmodus Rotundus]
7. Beholders [Edward_R_Murrow]
8. Illithids [Shadenuat]

5. So: Beholders. ('Naked. Except for the Rod of the Lordly Might.' - Thanks, Nevill...)

No, but it is still in beta, so I am giving it the benefit of doubt. There is enough good stuff there to see the potential for a great IE-like game, but the end result remains to be seen.

Since it seems you have not been following the game's development, you might also be baffled by some controversial design decisions like characters getting XP only for quest-solving (and not for combat), characters' main attributes not being their most defining aspect (they only grant bonuses to various stuff), etc.

PoE have potential in term of battles. When I discovered that PoE use timed attacks like those in 7,62HC then it's good sign cause that game have best RTwP combat ever, period.
Not sure if should fund this or WL2, which is not so special, still.

codex_10.jpg
Gnoll? is that the best you have? :decline:

bg2_up65_008.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You shall be named Sharik.

bg2_up65_009.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stay here, I need to take care of a few things outside the town.

bg2_up65_010.jpg

Approaching the transition point, we encounter a lone illithid.

codex_10.jpg
Didn't I already kill this thing?

bg2_up65_011.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let me show you my swords. Here's one.

bg2_up65_012.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And here's another!

bg2_up65_013.jpg

This completely unreadable screenshot shows the transition point between this area and Kuo-Toa tunnels. Since it was Storyfag who won the roll, we are going with his suggestion of no handicaps.

codex_10.jpg
Cheers, mate.

bg2_up65_014.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So far, so good, no fish.

This will not last.

bg2_up65_015.jpg

Like I said.

codex_10.jpg
I hate that they see me despite invisibility.

They must have some kind of sixth sense.

codex_10.jpg
I have a sixth sense too.

bg2_up65_016.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I SEE DEAD FISH!

bg2_up65_017.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wait... This isn't right!

Needs pondering.

bg2_up65_018.jpg

While we were trying to come up with a tactical plan against beholders, another Kuo-Toa approached from the south.

codex_10.jpg
No big deal.

bg2_up65_019.jpg

codex_10.jpg
...

Fuck.

bg2_up65_020.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Time-out over!

bg2_up65_021.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You blew your chance.

bg2_up65_022.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Go, Dalzim, go!

I thought I made a screenshot of how much damage ADHW did to the beholders, but apparently not. It was in the 40-50 range.

bg2_up65_023.jpg

codex_10.jpg
They need more softening, IMO.

We are running out of AoE spells.

bg2_up65_024.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I will read them a book for goodnight then. :smug:

bg2_up65_025.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Boom, motherfuckers!

bg2_up65_026.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let me put you out of your misery.

bg2_up65_027.jpg

Funnily enough, the gauth took more hits to kill off, after all earlier damage.

bg2_up65_028.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Shit, I must kill it quickly before I get stunlocked worse than in Risen again!

bg2_up65_029.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Machine Gun Codex strikes again!

bg2_up65_030.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hi, guys, meet your doom. It is me. I am your doom. In case anybody had any doubts.

bg2_up65_031.jpg

The Codex suicide bombs the Kuo-Toas with his horn of blasting.

codex_10.jpg
There must a better way to use this thing.

bg2_up65_032.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Here, take a look at your intestines. Do you think you will die soon? (Hint: you already died.)

bg2_up65_033.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fish wizards are just not natural.

bg2_up65_034.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It is actually a bit disappointing that I can get away with running into the middle of their war party and killing everyone.

Trust me, complaining about having it easy will bite you in the arse soon, so you might want to avoid that.

bg2_up65_035.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hey, if I killed your lieutenant just a moment ago, does that make you the new lieutenant? Ah, nevermind.

bg2_up65_036.jpg

Kuo-Toas drop some nice spells.

bg2_up65_037.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Funnily enough, it was the fighters who had these, not the wizard.

bg2_up65_038.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Another lone gunman, I mean crossbowman.

bg2_up65_039.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, I was wrong.

bg2_up65_040.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Save me, stone skin!

bg2_up65_041.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's see if this thing is worth anything.

bg2_up65_042.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Booyah!

bg2_up65_043.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I cannot let you live, because you could spawn more magic-wielding fish.

bg2_up65_044.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And I cannot let you live either, because you are worth XP.

bg2_up65_045.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Again, one of the warriors had this, not the wizard. Was this a prank day, when everyone stole a scroll from one of their spellcasters? Bizarre.

bg2_up65_046.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There is a suspicous lack of fish in this corridor.

bg2_up65_047.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, this makes absolutely no sense. How can a group of drow be here, in the middle... Ah, fuck it.

bg2_up65_048.jpg

codex_10.jpg
'Taint of gold'? Is you fo' real?

bg2_up65_049.jpg

You can actually bribe them and skip most of the Underdark, if you want to sacrifice 5000 gold and hours of fun (or are doing a speedrun).

bg2_up65_050.jpg

codex_10.jpg
My odds aren't looking particularly well here...

bg2_up65_051.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Bad news: half of my health is already gone. Good news: I still have my stone skin!

bg2_up65_052.jpg

One of the drows panicked when hit for 50 damage. Cannot really blame him/her.

bg2_up65_053.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Shit, it was a mislead!

bg2_up65_054.jpg

We manage to kill the real wizard and not die, but not before he/she summons a skeleton warrior.

bg2_up65_055.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That's all the living ones slain, I think.

Run away! I mean, retreat!

bg2_up65_056.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Shooting a skeleton with arrows does not seem like the best of ideas.

Stop complaining and kite that fucker!

bg2_up65_057.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That's some nice damage!

bg2_up65_058.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Shit, too close.

bg2_up65_059.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright!

bg2_up65_060.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ah, shit, I will have to kite this one too.

bg2_up65_061.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This one actually has some damage reduction.

bg2_up65_062.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Good thing this is a quiver of INFINITE arrows.

bg2_up65_063.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And done.

bg2_up65_064.jpg

Some typical drow loot.

bg2_up65_065.jpg

And some BG1-style loot...

codex_10.jpg
:decline:

bg2_up65_066.jpg

Killing the drow guards means we cannot get through here any way other than concluding Adalon' quest (or killing her), or at least I do not know of such a way.

bg2_up65_067.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let me guess, another Kuo-Toa war party?

bg2_up65_068.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, I thought so.

bg2_up65_069.jpg

codex_10.jpg
No more stone skin, and I'm, kind of running out of gimmicks here.

Endure. In enduring grow stronger.

codex_10.jpg
Fuck you! I am going to use a spell. You can't stop me.

Fine. Whimp.

bg2_up65_070.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Chill out!

bg2_up65_071.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Much better than chain lightning, IMO.

bg2_up65_072.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Another one bites the dust!

bg2_up65_073.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck yes, progress!

bg2_up65_074.jpg

codex_10.jpg
No acid spitting!

bg2_up65_075.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I survived!

bg2_up65_076.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Seems like the captain sent all his men fish to fight me and stayed behind himself. Good thinking.

bg2_up65_077.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I am relieving you of duty, cap'n.

bg2_up65_078.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, hey there. Enjoying your quiet guard duty?

bg2_up65_079.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I bet this guy did not expect to die today.

bg2_up65_080.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, great that I know all of that.

bg2_up65_081.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This bridge looks suspicious for some reason...

Stop being paranoid.

bg2_up65_082.jpg

Whoa.

Death Count: 237

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
Anything else you want to say?

Okay, okay, I guess you were right.

bg2_up65_083.jpg

codex_10.jpg
FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK, I'M ON FIRE!

On the second try, The Codex manages to not die.

bg2_up65_084.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A door, really?

bg2_up65_085.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This looks like a completely different place.

bg2_up65_086.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, sounds like something I'd want to do... Not.

We do not have a proper spell prepared anyway, so we will be back later.

codex_10.jpg
We will?

Loot.

codex_10.jpg
We will!

bg2_up65_087.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Do I wish to take them?

Yep.

codex_10.jpg
Ew.

bg2_up65_088.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I hate this job sometimes.

bg2_up65_089.jpg

codex_10.jpg
How does this work exactly?

bg2_up65_090.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Great, let's do that. I don't want them in my inventory any longer!

bg2_up65_091.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Intant effect, just add tadpoles.

bg2_up65_092.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hi, prince.

bg2_up65_093.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Bye, prince.

Well, that was anti-climactic.

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, it was.

So, let us try that again. This time without using the tainted tadpoles.

bg2_up65_094.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What the hell? He looks like he's from Limbo all of a sudden.

bg2_up65_096.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, this is definitely a much more even fight now!

bg2_up65_097.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Time to end this!

bg2_up65_098.jpg

codex_10.jpg
WTF? How is he still alive?

bg2_up65_099.jpg

Fully-powered prince proved more than a match to our hero.

Death Count: 238

Load game.

codex_10.jpg
Time to bring out the big guns.

bg2_up65_100.jpg

codex_10.jpg
DIE MOTHERFUCKER!

bg2_up65_101.jpg

codex_10.jpg
DIE, FUCKING DIE!

bg2_up65_102.jpg

codex_10.jpg
No way he could live through all this!

Keep trying.

bg2_up65_103.jpg

codex_10.jpg
JUST DIE ALREADY!

bg2_up65_104.jpg

My tooltips say he is 'barely injured'.

codex_10.jpg
You have got to be kidding me!

bg2_up65_105.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This stinker regenerates faster than those fucking greater wolfweres.

bg2_up65_106.jpg

codex_10.jpg
DIE!

bg2_up65_107.jpg

codex_10.jpg
:rage:

bg2_up65_108.jpg

codex_10.jpg
For fuck's sake!

bg2_up65_109.jpg

codex_10.jpg
ARGH!

As amusing as it was, at this point I have decided to reload and try a different approach.

bg2_up65_110.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I need to double my damage output.

codex_10a.jpg
Look no further.

bg2_up65_111.jpg

codex_10.jpg
codex_10a.jpg
DOUBLE WHIRLWIND!

bg2_up65_112.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Taste, the meat-grinder, bitch!

bg2_up65_113.jpg

codex_10.jpg
FFS, he is still alive!

codex_10a.jpg
I'll take care of it.

bg2_up65_114.jpg

codex_10a.jpg
Oh yeah, I'm the best!

codex_10.jpg
Fuck you.

bg2_up65_115.jpg

The most disappointing aspect of this fight is that the non-neutered prince gives as much XP as the weakened one. Laaaaaame.

bg2_up65_116.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Looting time!

bg2_up65_117.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That's actually nice.

bg2_up65_118.jpg

codex_10.jpg
One down, two to go.

bg2_up65_119.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't suppose you have an animal summonning spell handy?

codex_10a.jpg
Nope.

---

Next time: Our hero shall take on the beholders handicapped, and will suffer a lot. A LOT. Like, you have no idea.
Only illithids are left, but we need to know whose handicap suggestions we will follow, so let's roll!

1. Illithids [ALchymist]
2. Illithids [Darth Roxor]
3. Illithids [Shadenuat]

EDIT: We rolled a 2:
Do it naked, like Sawyer would want it :troll:

We can certainly try...

I must be going senile. I would have sworn I edited the links.
Sorry for that. Check now, bros.

EDIT: Of course, this would not happen if I could actually see what I am posting, but even photobucket does not go through this fucking firewall any more. :(

As for the handicap, same suggestion as before : use nothing but the Rod of Lordly Might. You still have it, right ?
Yeah, we have tried that. It did not work out so well, as you will see in the next update, which will be quite big, because I do not want to split the beholders into multiple posts, and there are a lot of screenshots.

Keep up the good work. Also, I'd like to apologize* for making the Rod of Lordly Might suggestion in the first place for laughs. I thought you would personally choose the limitations rather than sticking with the die roll (really lives up to its name this time, doesn't it).

*This does in no way imply that I won't be looking forward to the next update, nevertheless.

Not sure if anyone cares, but I have put the special PoE update source video on Youtube, in two parts: first and second.
As there is no commentary, it is probably completely pointless, but whatever. Also, be warned that they are monetised, so ads.
