You've got to be fucking kidding me!

And now, let's get back to trolling.

Update #14: Troll Hunter, Part II - Trolling Hard

bg2_up13_140.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So, I'm casually walking around this castle, hidden in shadows, because you know, why not. And suddenly, I see a troll!

Distressing.

bg2_up13_141.jpg

codex_10.jpg
So, I do what I always do in cases like this. I stab him.

Makes sense to me.

bg2_up13_142.jpg

codex_10.jpg
After that, I only have to make sure he does not stand back up. With acid.

Let's hope they have good carpet cleaners.

bg2_up13_143.jpg

codex_10.jpg
These ice trolls are so weak it's insulting.

It's not their natural habitat, maybe they're bigger and stronger above the ice cap?

bg2_up13_144.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This guy has his back against the wall, so no stabbing.

He must be an apprentice of Thufir Hawat.

bg2_up13_145.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Did not help him much.

bg2_up13_146.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Geez, this place is really infested with trolls.

Yeah. I think that is kind of the point.

bg2_up13_147.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I only have a limited number of these fire and acid spells, you know.

Oh no, what will we do then?

codex_10.jpg
Use one of the bagillion fire arrows I'm carrying?

That could do the trick.

bg2_up13_148.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Just stabbing trolls. Nothing to see here.

bg2_up13_149.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Flare Arrow!

Flame Arrow.

codex_10.jpg
Whatever, if it burns troll flesh.

bg2_up13_150.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Loot, awes- Wait a minute, this kind of sucks.

bg2_up13_151.jpg

codex_10.jpg
More troll stabbing goodness.

bg2_up13_152.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And again with the fiery arrow thingie.

bg2_up13_153.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Arrows of piercing. I like these.

Many a Drizzt have fallen to them.

bg2_up13_154.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yes. This is a spell.

bg2_up13_155.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There still are some people in this castle?

bg2_up13_156.jpg

codex_10.jpg
My lack of in-breeding, you mean. :smug:

bg2_up13_157.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Why don't you go away already?

bg2_up13_158.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A cache of gold, you say? Interesting...

bg2_up13_159.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Who in their right mind would set a trap to a fireplace?

bg2_up13_160.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Well, to be honest I am kind of surprised not to find a wand of fire.

What a twist!

bg2_up13_161.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This castle has more secret doors than a swiss cheese has holes.

bg2_up13_162.jpg

codex_10.jpg
22 damage? Disappointing. We'll have to adjust that with Lilarcor.

lilarcor1.jpg
Just point me in the right direction and I'll do the rest!

bg2_up13_163.jpg

That reminds me. Do you prefer Your trolls rare or well-done?

codex_10.jpg
Dead.

bg2_up13_164.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Insert obligatory Admiral Ackbar reference here.

bg2_up13_165.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Acid arrows.

It's as if the game is trying to tell us something.

codex_10.jpg
That nobles tend to collect all sorts of weird shit?

You tend to do that too.

codex_10.jpg
Of course. Obviously, I'm more noble than anyone else.

bg2_up13_166.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Another survivor.

bg2_up13_167.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh, you can try.

bg2_up13_168.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The Codex is not defeated easily!

bg2_up13_169.jpg

Easily or not, defeat is a defeat.

Death Count: 83

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
Who the fuck was that?

Maybe he's an avatar of RPGWatch?

codex_10.jpg
He'll die!

bg2_up13_170.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ow! Fuck! Ow! This guy packs a punch! OW!

bg2_up13_171.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Whew, that was close!

bg2_up13_172.jpg

Close indeed.

Death count: 84

Load game.

codex_10.jpg
I think, we need to put some thought into this.

Good idea.

bg2_up13_173.jpg

Let's put some of Your thoughts into his mind.

codex_10.jpg
Not what I meant, but whatever.

bg2_up13_174.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Huh. It broke the charm he was under. Who would've thought.

Not me. I'm honestly surprised. Nice touch.

bg2_up13_175.jpg

codex_10.jpg
A multi-headed... flail. It could become my signature weapon.

Except You're not proficient in it.

codex_10.jpg
We can always sell it.

bg2_up13_176.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, so I have a REALLY BAD feeling about what is going to happen when I try to loot one of these containers.

But You'll try anyway.

codex_10.jpg
Of course.

bg2_up13_177.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah. As expected.

bg2_up13_178.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ouch. I am so going to die.

bg2_up13_179.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yup. Dead in the water. See you all after reload.

bg2_up13_180.jpg

And he did not even need clairvoyance for that.

Death count: 85

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
We need to put our superior intelligence into this.

We can run through the door. Iron Golem won't fit through.

codex_10.jpg
Great!

bg2_up13_181.jpg

You still need to defeat the clay one.

codex_10.jpg
I got this. FUCK-OW!

bg2_up13_182.jpg

Weren't Clay Golems immune to slashing damage anyway?

Death count: 86

Load game.

codex_10.jpg
That last punch reminded me that clay golems are immune to swords.

Yeah, I forgot too.

codex_10.jpg
You are lying.

You'll never know for sure.

bg2_up13_183.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I feel much better now. Surely, no hostage was hurt during these eight hours of rest.

Nalia's father hopefully also does not mind that we're prolonging his tortures.

codex_10.jpg
I'll offer an apology later. He'll understand that this delay was because of a greater need.

This greater need being to loot his castle's secret treasury?

codex_10.jpg
Details.

bg2_up13_184.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Alright, that takes care of the clay golem.

bg2_up13_185.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And Lilarcor's superior range allows us to get rid of the big one.

lilarcor1.jpg
It feels good to be so awesome.

bg2_up13_186.jpg

codex_10.jpg
These guys should be piece of cake.

bg2_up13_187.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Stoned golem. I could have just walked past and let him keep his treasure. But that was never a real option.

bg2_up13_188.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuckyeahdie! Man, that was fucking close!

bg2_up13_189.jpg

codex_10.jpg
All this effort for a hammer I remember being in the first game? And it sucked there too!

bg2_up13_190.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I hope this axe is better.

bg2_up13_191.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I have to admit I really like the stone skin spell.

bg2_up13_192.jpg

codex_10.jpg
It allows me not to feel a lot of pain I otherwise would have to experience.

bg2_up13_193.jpg

codex_10.jpg
That actually is much better. I wish I had like eight arms to be able to use all these cool weapons.

bg2_up13_194.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh yeah, we have all tree fail heads now.

We might have not shown picking up all of them. Sorry? Anyway, the second one was in Glaicus' possession and the third one was in the golem treasury.

bg2_up13_195.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I'm sure that the hammering noises will not draw anyone's attention.

bg2_up13_196.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This weapon makes carrying any fire or acid arrows completely redundant.

bg2_up13_197.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Snakes on a roof.

At least they're not on a plane.

bg2_up13_198.jpg

codex_10.jpg
You know, technically this is the first material plane...

Well, technically, these are Yuan-ti, not snakes.

bg2_up13_199.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I'm still saying it.

Suit yourself.

bg2_up13_200.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I HAVE HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERFUCKING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERFUCKING PLANE!

Happy now?

codex_10.jpg
Kinda. I just wish Motherfucker Shepard was here to see it.

bg2_up13_201.jpg

A quick trip to the city to make some room in the backpack.

codex_10.jpg
Gee, I wonder if I'll be waylaid by enemies on the way back.

bg2_up13_202.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I also wonder who these hypothetical enemies might be.

bg2_up13_203.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Like, for example, could they be a band of brigands identical to the two I already killed?

bg2_up13_204.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Because, you know, how many twin brigand groups can camp on the same road to d'Arnise Keep?

bg2_up13_205.jpg

codex_10.jpg
What are the odds.

We need a fitting soundtrack. Let me pull something random...

bg2_up13_212.jpg

codex_10.jpg
These guys will never learn.

The whole story can be found below.
bg2_up13_206.jpg

bg2_up13_207.jpg

bg2_up13_208.jpg

bg2_up13_209.jpg

bg2_up13_210.jpg

bg2_up13_211.jpg

bg2_up13_213.jpg

The bad news is that corridor trolls have respawned when we made our trip.

codex_10.jpg
:rage:

bg2_up13_214.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Good thing I kept the flail.

bg2_up13_215.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't think my backstabbing has reached its full potential yet.

bg2_up13_216.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And stay down!

bg2_up13_217.jpg

Look out, this one is bigger.

codex_10.jpg
No biggie.

bg2_up13_218.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck, fuck, FUCK!

Actually, yes. A biggie.

bg2_up13_219.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Casting failure!? What do you mean, casting failure!?

bg2_up13_220.jpg

That was some serious trolling there.

Death count: 87

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
'Killed by a random troll' will not look good on my resume. I must quickly remove this creature from existence, so its very presence does not stain my reputation.

Well said.

bg2_up13_221.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now I will show you that your victory was just pure luck!

bg2_up13_222.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There!

bg2_up13_223.jpg

Floor completed!

bg2_up13_224.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Time to go downstairs and kick even more troll ass.

bg2_up13_225.jpg

codex_10.jpg
But first - looting.

bg2_up13_226.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Codex rule number one: never say no to magic arrows.

bg2_up13_227.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Codex rule number two: always expect a trap.

bg2_up13_228.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Codex rule number three: if it glitters, take it!

bg2_up13_229.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Yeah, no. I'm not taking off my anti-vampire amulet even for a second.

bg2_up13_230.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now to the meat of things.

bg2_up13_231.jpg

codex_10.jpg
These trolls will be defeated by a sophisticated tactical manoeuvre known as "kiting".

bg2_up13_232.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Because, as everyone knows, fighting multiple trolls at a time can be hazardous to your health.

bg2_up13_233.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Instead you should lure them one by one, into a dark corner, and kill them when they are alone and vulnerable.

I'm starting to feel sorry for them when You say it that way.

bg2_up13_234.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The final troll can be defeated with the usual means. Backstab first, then some swordfighting

bg2_up13_235.jpg

codex_10.jpg
And finally a touch of acid or fire. Or both.

bg2_up13_236.jpg

codex_10.jpg
The fuck is this shit!?

Umber Hulk.

codex_10.jpg
How do I kill it?

How do You kill everything else?

bg2_up13_237.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Oh.

bg2_up13_238.jpg

codex_10.jpg
After the room with three trols, there is a room with five umber hulks. What's next? A gelatinous cube?

bg2_up13_239.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I don't feel like playing around with you bug-boys, so.

bg2_up13_240.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hahaha- Um... Fuck.

Damn, this looks a bit like...

codex_10.jpg
Yeah.

Moving on!

bg2_up13_241.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Loot!

bg2_up13_242.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Not bad, but I'm not really seeing anything replacing my Robe of Vecna.

bg2_up13_243.jpg

This is where we could have used the dog stew to lure away the umber hulks.

bg2_up13_244.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There is something left here.

bg2_up13_245.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ewww, fuck! Why did you make me pick this up?

bg2_up13_246.jpg

codex_10.jpg
No gelatinous cubes here, so at least we're clear with that.

bg2_up13_247.jpg

codex_10.jpg
'Stronger'? The plot thickens.

bg2_up13_248.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Three trolls? Is that all?

bg2_up13_249.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Piece of cake.

bg2_up13_250.jpg

To be honest, we owe everyone a screenshot there. TorGal proved highly resistant to magic and was not slowed down.

Death count: 88

Loading.

codex_10.jpg
Obviously, rushing in head-first was not the smartest thing to do.

bg2_up13_251.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's call some allies.

berserker_small.jpg

Blood!

bg2_up13_252.jpg

We also cast a couple of buffs.

bg2_up13_253.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's try this too.

bg2_up13_254.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Nope, not this time.

The elemental was offed. Of course, we forgot about the ability to charm earth elementals (the magic ring from previous update).

bg2_up13_255.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Wait, I'm not ready yet!

bg2_up13_256.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Casting failure!? Again!?

I wonder what is causing these. Also, our berserker died already.

bg2_up13_257.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Whew.

Good thing we're not playing Amnesia The Dark Descent, so the doors are actually able to stop them.

bg2_up13_258.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Time to summon my godhood.

bg2_up13_259.jpg

We can also use a scroll, because why not.

bg2_up13_260.jpg

As you can see in the screenshot above, second attempt has not gone as well as I expected. Our summoned creatures were quickly killed and the trolls burst into the room, forcing us to retreat again.

codex_10.jpg
I'm starting to get irritated.

bg2_up13_261.jpg

bg2_up13_262.jpg

Good thing we have more scrolls to use.

bg2_up13_263.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Let's see what they say to that.

bg2_up13_264.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck yeah!

Using the door as a choke point, we manage to defeat one of the opponents.

bg2_up13_265.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Not so tough now, huh!?

TorGal falls soon after.

bg2_up13_266.jpg

The last troll was just a formality.

bg2_up13_267.jpg

codex_10.jpg
This is the loot I get from this battle? Really?

bg2_up13_268.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I guess he was not that indifferent to me taking a nap upstairs after all. Oh well.

bg2_up13_269.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now that's more like it!

bg2_up13_270.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Hey, I found that spell you are permanently under.

Very funny.

bg2_up13_271.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Now I can turn everyone into a letsplayer. Neat.

bg2_up13_271a.jpg

Area completed!

bg2_up13_272.jpg

codex_10.jpg
We will leave through the main gate, the proper way.

Of course we forgot to screenshot the very moment of leaving, but whatever.

bg2_up13_273.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Why did I even bother talking to you...?

bg2_up13_274.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Your father died. Sucks to be you. Also, I've looted everything and destroyed your golems. They were probably expensive.

bg2_up13_275.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Get to the point, willya.

bg2_up13_276.jpg

codex_10.jpg
There is a follow up quest to this? Assassination. That would be kind of cool.

bg2_up13_277.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, that works too.

bg2_up13_278.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Fuck! Why did I destroy the golems? They would be mine now!

bg2_up13_279.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Watch your mouth, Nalia. The Codex serves noone!

bg2_up13_280.jpg

codex_10.jpg
500 per week? I can earn more in a day! I just did!

bg2_up13_281.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Nothing? I am disappointed.

bg2_up13_282.jpg

codex_10.jpg
No settlements at all? Who is farming the farms then?

bg2_up13_283.jpg

codex_10.jpg
Ok, enough with this bullshit, give me the money.

bg2_up13_284.jpg

codex_10.jpg
I'm sure they will. Also, I will be back for more. Soon.

bg2_up13_285.jpg

Quest completed!

----------
Next time: Well, I don't know. We've had three suggestions so far:

1. Unseeing Eye
2. Kangaxx
3. Mae'Var's Guild

Let's roll a die and see which one of these fate picks for us!

EDIT: The die has decided. We're going for the Unseeing Eye next.

codex_10.jpg
Is that good?

No, but it could've been worse.

Bros, I started screenshotting the Unseeing Eye quest (100 screenshots in, still wandering the sewers, will need to edit that), but I will want to post on the next page of this thread, if You know what I mean.

Remember when You mentioned 500 screenshots for this quest Shadenuat? Well, You weren't wrong there.
This thing will have to be posted at least in three parts, but four are more likely at the moment.

Ok, bros, I finished this fucker of a quest. I hope my writing wil be up to par with the epic events that took place. If so, these could prove to be some of the best updates of this LP. Now wish me luck with finding some free time to post them. Hopefully they will start appearing this week.

Don't make us post homoerotic Irenicus fanart. You know it exists somewhere. Only many and frequent updates will appease the beast.
